This bug exist for the Asturian variant (ast_ES code). The width of phrase Spain (Asturian variant with bottom-dot H and bottom-dot L) in the GDM for choose the variant keyboard is very large, exceeding the width of screen. Could be shortened to Spain (Asturian)? I just tried in Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic alpha 6. I described a similar usability problem and proposed having a bubble/on- hover message displayed to wrok around it a while ago, see Bug #43185.
