[Bug 42506] Re: Problems caused by raw mode files on target device

2007-04-23 Thread Stuart Young
I'd sort of given up on this at the time and just lived with the erratic
behaviour, but since you asked

Further notes:
Tried on a seperate box running Dapper: Same issues (so not the USB port).

Upgraded seperate box to Edgy: Bug not present. (Fixed!)

Tried on another seperate box that is running Feisty: Bug not present.

When I run gphoto2 -L under Dapper and it's working I get (something
like) the following:

There are no files in folder '/'.
There are no files in folder '/store_0001'.
There are no files in folder '/store_0001/DCIM'.
There are 4 files in folder '/store_0001/DCIM/100CANON':
#1 IMG_3160.JPG 3538 KB 3504x2336 image/jpeg
#2 IMG_3161.JPG 3778 KB 3504x2336 image/jpeg
#3 IMG_3162.JPG 3943 KB 3504x2336 image/jpeg
#4 IMG_3163.JPG 4052 KB 3504x2336 image/jpeg

When it fails, it only gives:

There are no files in folder '/'.
There are no files in folder '/store_0001'.

I'm guessing it's either a timing bug, or (IMO much less likely)
something related to the packet size when using the USB PTP protocol.

Notes:
Ignore the raw mode stuff in the subject. This happens with only jpeg files on
the device as well.
gphoto2 -L seems to either work or not work (depending on what I have no idea)
whereas something like gthumb doesn't work then works once or twice, then stops
working again.

Did you have a chance to test this on Dapper or even Edgy?

[Bug 42506] Re: Problems caused by raw mode files on target device

2006-08-07 Thread Stuart Young
Sorry I've been busy with things like work and looking for a place to
live lately.

Upgraded to Dapper. Same result as Breezy.
It doesn't matter if the device has RAW files on it or not. It's just buggy at
working. Sometimes it works, more often than not, it doesn't. Same is present
using gphoto2, so it's definitely libgphoto2 issue and not gthumb.
It just refuses to see the image store on the device some times, and sometimes
it works. Sometimes it comes back after a few invocations and sometimes it
refuses to work at all. Plugging it into another USB port doesn't seem to help.
I could not find any correlation at all (time since shooting or turn on, camera
modes, Ubuntu uptime, free memory, nada).

I'm guessing this might be related to a similar issue with the Canon EOS
20D's and Firmware 1.0.2 I saw at
http://www.teaser.fr/~hfiguiere/linux/digicam.html

Thanks for your bug report. Which version of Ubuntu and gthumb is that?
Can you start gthumb from the terminal and post the output here?

[Bug 42506] Re: Problems caused by raw mode files on target device

2006-05-03 Thread Stuart Young
Package: gthumb
Architecture: i386
Version: 3:2.6.5-1ubuntu3
Ubuntu: 5.10 (Breezy)

Running gthumb or gthumb --import-photos from the terminal gives no output
whatsoever. Looking through the man pages and the docs revealed no debug-like
switches to enable any extra output or logging.

I think this may actually now be a gphoto2 bug, as I can't list any files on
the device with any regularity using gphoto2 -L either.
