*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 376145 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/376145 Hi i have the same problem in xubuntu 9.10 where the CD ROM is listed in dmesg and device manager however media inserted in the CD cannot be accessed and the drive appears to not be mounted. Mount -a does nothing. it appear ubuntu see the drive and correctly identified it however renders it useless??
