Further testing reveals that the bug: - is not ubuntu specific. This bug affects all my Ubuntu Karmic machines, both i686 and x86_64 architectures. Steps to reproduce: $ mkdir test $ cd test $ touch dummy $ gedit ... or any other program using gtk save file dialog. in this screenshot, I've realized that this bug also sometimes affects dialogues where directories are are the top item.
