Last comment from upstream: I confirm this behavior. Nevertheless, this is absolutely normal. You should consider this issue as a 'feature'. Dealing precisely with borders is quite tedious and most of the people do expect theses borders to be here when they print in 2x1. Closing this issue as 'WONTFIX'. Closing as won't fix, too then.
