Thanks for the response. I am glad someone has taken notice of the bug
that I have reported.
Well, I will try and reproduce it if I can, but cannot guarantee. This
is what I have encountered.
Whenever I switch on my laptop everyday in the morning (boot up - I
always shut it down when I leave for the day), the evolution works
perfectly for some time. When I start reading emails and start replying
(more so when I am replying to emails), this error comes.
Then suddenly I see several messages in my outbox. When I do a Send /
Receive, surprisingly - SMTP first tries to send email before it POPs.
My setting for SMTP is POP login before sending. But now suddently it
will start SMTPing before POPing and this message will come. "Welcome
response error"
I use my corporate email id, Gmail and
hotmail - all in POP3 configuration. I use hotmail & gmail only for receiving
emails. i dont use the accounts for sending emails out. I use my corporate
email account for sending emails out.
I am attaching the screenshot. I tried the whole day and I encountered
the issues twice - on both occassions it was only for mails to which I
had to respond back and both mails came from MS outlook and both users
used Microsoft Windows Vista & 7.
This is the maximum info I can give. I dont know how to reproduce the
error.

Bug description:
Binary package hint: evolution
Sending mail through evolution needs a lot of effort.It gives an error as:
Welcome Response error: Operation now in progress. Ironically, sometimes it
works and sometimes it does not work. So configurations and settings are not an
issue. Restarting the mail client does not resolve the issue. Restarting the
machine helps. But it is painful to start & restart the machine. It was working
a day before and has started giving problems now.
Version details:
Operating System: Ubuntu Karmic 64 bit
Laptop: Dell Vostro 1220, 3 GB RAM, 250 GBB Sata HDD
Evolution version is: 2.28.1
