[Bug 510073] Re: take screenshot of current window doesn't work properly

2010-03-13 Thread ssbastos
I have the same problem...

I wonder if the Grab the current window option isn't actually grabbing
a reference to itself, and since that window disappears when you take
the screenshot then no screenshot is generated.

Trying to take a screenshot of the firefox window with borders -
application dies. Without borders - similar results as in screenshot
attached to Post #2. Adding a delay makes it work correctly.

[Bug 510073] Re: take screenshot of current window doesn't work properly

2010-01-20 Thread Bruno Girin
I can confirm that. I have intermittent behaviour when it comes to
taking a screenshot of the current window that includes the window
borders: if the take screenshot window doesn't overlap the current
window, it fails completely; if the take screenshot window overlaps
the current window, it works but also includes the overlapping area of
the take screenshot tool while fading out (see top left corner of
attached screenshot).

As a result, the Alt+PrtSc shortcut only works intermittently as well.

Well, now this package was correctly reassigned and sent to upstream, I
will mark this like triaged.

[Bug 510073] Re: take screenshot of current window doesn't work properly

2010-01-20 Thread eddified
Bruno's problem sounds slightly different than mine. ALT+PrintScreen
always works for me. And when a window only screenshot is taken using
the menu method (as opposed to ALT+PrintScrn), if it works at all, it
always gets the top left corner of the desktop, whether the screenshot
tool's window is overlapping the current one or not (I just tried it
both ways). (I don't have problems with fading because I don't have
those nice effects turned on)

I have found that if I add a short delay, say 5 seconds, that it will
work normally on my systems.

Awesome, thanks jimbob! That worked perfectly. I'm not sure why I didn't
try that option before... but I think the first time I saw the dialog,
my eyes skimmed over that option and promptly dismissed it as
unimportant, so I never thought about using it after that. :)
