[Bug 528044] Re: file browser display problem

2010-02-27 Thread Bruno Girin
@frlet888: the fact that you can set the side pane to zero width is
already the subject of bug 296564. I just created a new bug 529005 for
the fact that the View -> Reset View to Defaults menu item has no effect
on the side pane. If you can confirm that the details of that bug are
correct, I can then forward it upstream and we'll see if anything comes
out of it.

[Bug 528044] Re: file browser display problem

2010-02-27 Thread frlet888
OK what happened was the following : The side pane width got to zero and was
not visible.
So I thought that this was a display mode from which I could not escape. I
tried the different options
for about 45 minutes over and over again.

In my opinion allowing zero width side pane is a bug. Not restoring
normal display when the width of sidepane is 0 and when the "reset the
view defaults" is selected is another bug. I understand if they are not
considered as bugs.

Thank you for your help Bruno Girin.
When I toggled the sidepane selection I saw a flashing effect on the display
and understood what was happening.

2010-02-26 Thread Chris Coulson
Thank you for taking the time to report this issue and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Examining the information you have given us, this does
not appear to be a bug report so we are closing it and converting it to
a question in the support tracker. We appreciate the difficulties you
are facing, but it would make more sense to raise problems you are
having in the support tracker at https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu if
you are uncertain if they are bugs. For help on reporting bugs, see
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#When%20not%20to%20file%20a%20bug.

[Bug 528044] Re: file browser display problem

2010-02-26 Thread Bruno Girin
@frlet888: can you try the following please: in the file browser menu,
select View -> Side Pane. Or alternatively, press F9. This should
display the side pane with the directory structure in it. You can do
exactly the same to hide it again.
