This is due to a crash in upowerd which is inturn caused by a bug in libusb, marking as dupe against bug #427805 -- No battery level indication https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/85 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-power-manager in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 555585] Re: No battery level indication
I can confirm this with a MacBook Pro 5,3. It was working fine in Karmic, best I can remember. The battery indicator does not show. If I select 'Always display an icon' in the Power Management preferences, a 'plug' indicator appears showing that I am charging even though I am running on battery. A number of people confirm the same issue as mentioned in the previous post and in the forums: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1469819page=2 ** Attachment added: Contents of /proc/acpi/battery/BAT0/* http://launchpadlibrarian.net/48044198/battery.txt -- No battery level indication https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/85 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-power-manager in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

The battery indicator applet had been working, but right now it isn't. I see the indicator applet, and I can open its About dialog and preferences, but I get no information about battery status. Instead it shows the power-plug-like image. There is no tooltip. - The problem may be related to some failed suspend attempts I made just - now; the system was probably still trying to suspend as I unplugged the - power. + The problem may be related to some failed suspend attempts I made just now; the system was probably still trying to suspend as I unplugged the power. + --- + Architecture: i386 + CheckboxSubmission: 7131a2e6825aee6420636214396358b3 + CheckboxSystem: 7e42599bda39ea7ff8b528272b6ef52b + DevkitPower: + Error: command ['upower', '-d'] failed with exit code 1: + (upower:28421): libupower-glib-WARNING **: Couldn't enumerate devices: Message did not receive a reply (timeout by message bus) + DistroRelease: Ubuntu 10.04 + GnomeSessionIdleInhibited: No + GnomeSessionInhibitors: None + GnomeSessionSuspendInhibited: No + MachineType: Apple Inc. Thanks for the report, could you run apport-collect 85 ; it will attach the required logs for the report. would be nice as well to grab some using : killall gnome-power-manager gnome-power-manager --verbose 21 | tee gpm.log ; try to reproduce the issue and attach that resulting log file to the report, thanks Jeroen. ** Changed in: gnome-power-manager (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = Low ** Changed in: gnome-power-manager (Ubuntu) Status: New = Incomplete -- No battery level indication https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/85 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-power-manager in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
