Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-applets
System Specs: Ubuntu release: 10.04 gnome-applets version: 2.30.0-0ubuntu2 STEPS TO REPRODUCE: 1. Add the Disk Mounter applet to a panel 2. Mount a USB drive to your computer 3. Click the drive on the applet, then select Unmount EXPECTED RESULTS 4. The drive is unmounted from your system 5. Running ls /media in a terminal confirms that the device is removed from your system ACTUAL RESULTS 4. The drive is unmounted from your system 5. Running ls /media in a terminal indicates that the device is in fact still attached to your system 6. Attempts at removing the drive via sudo through either a terminal or nautilus results in the return of an error stating "Error removing file: Device or resource busy" ADDITIONAL INFORMATION I've recently started noticing that when I mount my iriver E100 DMP it is mounted with an increasing number of underscores in the label. After finding Bug #101845 Automounted Volumes mount points change I opened /media in a sudo nautilus window to try to delete the E100 drive and all of the newer instances I was able to remove all of them with the exception of E100______, this morning's instance. When I try to delete it I get "Error removing file: Device or resource busy", even with the device itself is no longer connected to my computer. When I reconnected my E100 to my system it mounted as /media/E100 so at least manually deleting the mount points allows me to get back to the proper identity. When I unmount the drive via nautilus the mount point is completely removed, so the issue seems to be in the applet itself. I believe the problem initially appeared after updating awn-applets- python-core-trunk to version 0.4.1~bzr1311-1.10.04 from the AWN Testing Team's PPA, although closing AWN does not allow me to manually remove E100______ either. ** Affects: gnome-applets (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Unmounting USB drive with Disk Mounter applet doesn't remove the device from /media https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/590411 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-applets in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
