The following comment from the GStreamer Base Plug-ins 0.10.31 release notes may be relevant: * typefinding: detect avc1 ftyp as video/quicktime This should appear in the Ubuntu 11.04 Natty Narwhal archives soon. Also, the newly released GStreamer Good Plug-ins 0.10.26 might help. I'd postponed the maverick upgrade to this weekend, since I didn't have much time last. I can confirm the issue (at least in my case) seems to have disappeared with the maverick upgrade. I'm having the same issue.
