[Bug 610131] Re: Facebook contacts cannot be added to groups
Two years and still no decent reply about this problem? I found that the most annoying thing on this bug report is that you CAN create groups and you CAN add people to them, and empathy silently screw things up when you restart it. Why is not possible to save groups locally? I'm sure the data structure is not coming from the Internet, but being created locally with remote data. Is it that hard to simply save locally the assigned groups for Facebook contacts? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to empathy in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/610131 Title: Facebook contacts cannot be added to groups To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/empathy/+bug/610131/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 610131] Re: Facebook contacts cannot be added to groups
Honestly, how is this bug classified as Won't Fix? Facebook is one of the most utilized protocols regardless of which client someone uses. The whole point of using an IM client such as empathy, pidgin, or digsby is to combine multiple protocols into one EASY TO USE interface. If the empathy developers really don't have the time or want to put in the effort to fix an issue associated with one of their biggest protocols that is fine, but they should also expect to lose users in the process. Again, the reason most users want to use empathy, or clients like empathy, is to group contacts from multiple sources into a single, easy to use interface. I hope that this is fixed soon, or I will be turning to a different client that fixes issues like this. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to empathy in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/610131 Title: Facebook contacts cannot be added to groups -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 610131] Re: Facebook contacts cannot be added to groups
I have the same issue concerning facebook groups. The obvious solution is that Empathy should maintain the groups locally. This is no problem in other clients such as Digsby, which simply saves the group allocations itself, independent of the protocols. -- Facebook contacts cannot be added to groups https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/610131 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to empathy in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

Re: [Bug 610131] Re: Facebook contacts cannot be added to groups
Is there some place (url) to ask the facebook ppl to allow this? The thing is that we don't need Facebook to do anything. We just need to be able to create local groups in Empathy to organize contacts. Re: [Bug 610131] Re: Facebook contacts cannot be added to groups
the normal grouping that empathy does for other networks is not done locally. it happens on the protocol servers(?) as facebook doesnt allow that.
