Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gdm
I have a laptop screen with a resolution of 1366x768 and an external monitor connected via VGA, the external monitor has a resolution of 1280x1024. Graphics card is ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4570 using the default open source driver. When Plymouth loads, I get a cloned splash screen on both monitors at their correct resolutions. This is really nice. Once GDM starts the monitors remain cloned but the resolution of both screens drops very low. This is not very nice. While logging in the correct resolutions are set again and screens move into extended mode. This is really nice. Expected behaviour: Resolution should be consistent throughout the startup process. I have also tried 10.10, the issue remains ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 10.04 Package: gdm 2.30.2.is.2.30.0-0ubuntu4 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.32-25.45-generic 2.6.32.21+drm33.7 Uname: Linux 2.6.32-25-generic x86_64 Architecture: amd64 Date: Thu Oct 21 13:12:33 2010 EcryptfsInUse: Yes InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 10.04 LTS "Lucid Lynx" - Release amd64 (20100429) ProcEnviron: PATH=(custom, user) LANG=en_GB.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash SourcePackage: gdm ** Affects: gdm (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug lucid -- Dual monitors, bad resolutions in GDM https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/664451 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gdm in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
