Is this related to bug 672770? There is a ppa noted there which has
been reported to fix the problem.

apport information

** Tags added: apport-collected

** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager

  Hardware: Sony Vaio F series
Problem: Estimated charging time is extremely wrong in
gnome-power-statistics. It's often estimated for several seconds while there is
still more than 20 minutes to complete charging. Power-manager indicator shows
"estimating..." during the whole process of charging. The battery is only few
weeks old and the charging time is estimated properly in Windows.

[Bug 686078] Re: Battery charge time is not estimated properly.

2011-01-14 Thread Lukasz Olszewski
OK, as I think this bug is also mainline kernel related and I posted it here:
https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=26662
If it's confirmed then I think this bug can be marked as Invalid or something.

[Bug 686078] Re: Battery charge time is not estimated properly.

2011-01-14 Thread Lukasz Olszewski
I've done some testing against the mainline kernel 2.6.37-999-generic
#201101121009 SMP Wed Jan 12 10:10:37 UTC 2011 x86_64 (logs attached)
and the problem seems to be partially fixed. The power statistics graph
for both charging and discharging processes seems to be ok with the
newest kernel so I don't get "low battery" warnings all the time (while
running kernel version 2.6.35 the battery status was marked as very low
right after disconnecting form AC adapter). What is still missing are
the battery charge and discharge time estimations. They both are marked
as 0 minutes which is weird because power-manager receives proper
percentage statistics... I think there might be a problem with proper
detection of battery specs. - it is reported as "non-rechargeable" in
/proc/acpi/battery/BAT_0/state
