Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

When inserting a media device, e.g. USB flash drive or harddisk or a CD the
following happens:

- all open nautilus windows stop responding and close 6-10 seconds after
insertion.
All icons disappear from the Desktop.
- after 3 to 5 more seconds the icons reappear and the media is properly
mounted. I can open a new nautilus and access the media.

For this to happen I have to have the media_autorun_never key set to false.
ps: the time measures above may vary from one machine to another. This is on a
Thinkpad T42.

Workaround:
- set key /apps/nautilus/preferences/media_autorun_never to true in
gconf-editor.

cheers.
