In my oppinion favorite contacts and 'appeare offline' are two different things and you cannot use the same function that. I've always used favorite contacts to see directly, when my favs come online, because they appeare on the top of the roster. But now this group is always closed, because i don't want to appear 16 offline contacts in front of the first online one. I've unmarked nearly all favorite contacts again and this function became really useless to me. Please undo this and instead of using the same option add another one "Show offline". I want the old functionality of favorite contacts back, and i think there are a lot other who would apreciate this, too.
