Public bug reported:

This happened previously with the places menu in the desktop, if I
selected anywhere (home folder, documents, pictures) all would result in
the movie player opening empty instead...this was rectified by a
previous update but I recently found if I select a folder to open in my
ubunutOne control panel (while accessing from my own laptop, it opens
totem movie player instead of requested folder.

  totem movie player opens when requesting access to unrelated products
