I'm also getting this error, when investigating the mount problem by calling gnome-mount manually. Timeout for waiting for cleartext device... Exiting. The mapper device is set up correctly by gnome-mount. As root, i am able to mount the mapper device without any problems. However, gnome-mount does not mount the filesystem. This had been a long standing issue in udev that has been fixed just recently. Can you please upgrade your system to the latest Feisty packages and test again? I did the debugging instructions after an update. At best, automounting encrypted partitions work inconsistently, sometimes they mount and sometimes not. Here are the logs when it did not mount.
