Yes, I still get the bug exactly as before.  But now I noticed another
problem:  my root partition is a little corrupt.  For
example, one of my emacs packages now doesn't load because what used
to be the /usr/share/emacs/site-lisp/semantic/ directory is now a
file.  I just found out about the corruption recently but it could be
the problem.

I say we close this bug as WONTFIX. :) What do you think?

Would require debugging of somebody getting the bug, we get hundred of
new desktop bugs a week and there is only 3-4 people working on them,
might take some time before we can work your bug

I rebooted, tried the same command, and got the same output (below).
What else can I try?  Btw: If anyone would like to VNC or
ssh(1)+kibitz(1) into my system to try and troubleshoot, I can arrange
that.
