You have been subscribed to a public bug: I submitted my login credentials to enable recommendations in the ubuntu software center. While it was processing the login, the error message window popped up to suggest submitting the bug.
i would actually guess that this is just some oversensitive error detection. (but then again, i don't have much know-how on what is happening in the background) Note that: 1. login was successfull nonetheless 2. i was able to just continue using the ubuntu software center 3. it was the only application running (in foreground, there may have been background processes) 4. i connect to the internet over vpn feel free to mail me to help resolve this by providing more info (though i cannot think of anything else) or to test some reproduction scenarios (or anything else that may help) finally, to provide the 4 needs: 1. release: 12.04 LTS beta (downloaded and installed about a week ago) 2. version: no clue. (don't know package name of the software center to get the version info for) 3. expectations: for me it is no issue, i could just continue. just reporting in case it may be of interest (since this is a beta release) 4. happened instead: well, nothing weird happened Kind regards, Michiel ProblemType: Crash DistroRelease: Ubuntu 12.04 Package: gvfs-backends 1.11.4-0ubuntu1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.2.0-18.28-generic 3.2.9 Uname: Linux 3.2.0-18-generic x86_64 NonfreeKernelModules: wl fglrx ApportVersion: 1.94.1-0ubuntu2 Architecture: amd64 Date: Sat Mar 10 10:24:49 2012 EcryptfsInUse: Yes ExecutablePath: /usr/lib/gvfs/gvfsd-http InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 12.04 LTS "Precise Pangolin" - Beta amd64 (20120301) ProcCmdline: /usr/lib/gvfs/gvfsd-http --spawner :1.5 /org/gtk/gvfs/exec_spaw/2 SegvAnalysis: Segfault happened at: 0x7f953cfd5bfe <__nscd_get_mapping+718>: lock xadd %eax,0x18(%rdi) PC (0x7f953cfd5bfe) ok source "%eax" ok destination "0x18(%rdi)" (0x00000017) not located in a known VMA region (needed writable region)!
