Forgot to mention: I see this bug regularly on 2 PCs, both use nvidia-glx-new driver (FX5700LE and 7600GT). I confirm this bug. This screensaver often freezes system. Compiz.real process eats all cpu and X become unresponsive. This issue is pretty old -- it was reproducible with old compiz or beryl. System is not dead after hang: it can be recovered by logging in via ssh/telnet and killing compiz.real process. Rarely system can be recovered by switching to console (C-A-F1-6) -- you have to wait few minutes for that. Seen this bug in Ubuntu Dapper-Edgy-Feisty-Gutsy. I have this issue with Ubuntu Feisty + amd64 (on Core2 Duo) + Beryl. Other screensavers do not seem to have the issue. I confirm, total system lockup (can't even switch TTY) when just clicking on Braid in gnome-screensaver. I have also a freeze with Braid screensaver on a Nvidia Geforce Go 7600, the Nvidia drivers and an i686 architecture. I can see the first second of the screensaver (in thumbnail or full screen), then the system freezes. It freezes only with Beryl or Compiz and theses drivers. Ctrl + Alt + backspace has no effect, I have to riboot with the Sys Req.
