Public bug reported: I tried to install the 12.04 64 Bit Desktop version of Ubuntu on my machine and the LiveCD / or LiveUSB would stay on the purple screen for several minutes. I actually lost count since I just went to do other stuff hoping that it would start sometime. It did start but after about 20 to 30 minutes later.
The problem happens right after selecting "Try Ubuntu" from the LiveCD or LiveUsB menu. It starts to load up and then it just stays for many minutes loading or waiting for something. I even removed in the menu (by pressing F6) the splash and quiet flags from the kernel line before starting to see what was happening. For the first 4 seconds, I could see the output on screen and then, nothing. Just a dark purple background that stayed there up until Unity appeared but this was about 20-30 minutes later. This also happened with the LiveUSB. I even downloaded the image again via Torrent and checked the MD5. The hardware I am trying to install it in is: Intel DZ68DB Motherboard 16GB DDR3 RAM Intel i7 2600 CPU Samsung Spintpoint F3 1TB HDD Sata Broadcom Wireless RaLink Wireless Intel Integrated Ethernet Gigalan Realtek PCI Ethernet Gigalan Nvidia GT 440 The DVD from which I tried to install Ubuntu is an external USB unit. I also tried the USB from the front and back USB connectors. Same goes with the external DVD unit. I did a memtest on the memory just to make sure. In all cases It was the same.
