[Bug 83621] Re: [Feisty] increase volume on keyboard

2007-02-16 Thread quinnman
This seems to be resolved now. There is no longer problem with
increasing the volume on keyboard, also the OSD works. This puzzles me,
I don't know where could have been the problem? Anyway, now it's OK.

[Bug 85521] gconfd-2 doesn't stop for previous user logged into GNOME

2007-02-16 Thread Ivailo Stoyanov
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: libgconf2-4

After a user logged out of a GNOME-session (is-1 in the example
below), the next user that logs in (is) may experience very high CPU-
usage caused by the unstopped gconfd-2 process for the first user.
Although I experience this behaviour quite regularly on a up-to-date
Ubuntu 6.06 LTS system, I cannot provide a mechanism for replicating it.
Therefore I'd appreciate help/hints about debugging/investigating such a
condition.

that might be fixed with the new versions of Ubuntu edgy or feisty, that
doesn't mean that the new version of the distribution has better
stability than the one you are using though, you should probably not
update only for that. New versions are not better supported than dapper,
no

[Bug 73513] Re: GNOME panel unresponsive after upgrade to Feisty

2007-02-16 Thread Corrado
Happens to me, too. Every time i use the panel without pppd running is working
well. As soon as i have pppd running (connection to internet throught eth0,
f.i.) if i have mouse over the gnome-panel it freezes or if i try to open a
menu(right mouse button) gdm freezes. I need to either kill gnome-panel or
restart gdm (usually CTRL-ALT-BT) and go to emergency terminal and killall
gnome-panel to have it work again.
and then start all over every time i connect.
Hope this would help!! :-)

[Bug 85549] gnome-panel freezes when pppd is running

2007-02-16 Thread Corrado
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-panel

[feisty uptodate on 16 feb (about a couple of week that this happens)]
login correctly with gdm.
(happens with or without the windows decorators (beryl, etc)

Everything works perfectly if i don't connect to internet (throught eth0 and
ethernet modem - rp-pppoe)
As soon as i connect (pppd running) 2 things can happen?

1. if i go over any menu with mouse pointer in gnome-panel taskbars it
freezes. every else continue to work but it. if i disconnect and killall
gnome-panel and restart it, everything come back to normality. (I can
kill it becouse i have a terminal opened)

2 if i want to open a contextual menu with right mouse button or on a
window with left or right mouse button gdm freezes. i need to restart it
(CTRL-ALT-BS) open the emergency terminal, killall gnome-panel,
disconnect and login again and everything come back.

Need to do this every time i connect to internet with pon.

Hope this would help!

[Bug 85521] Re: gconfd-2 doesn't stop for previous user logged into GNOME

2007-02-16 Thread Ivailo Stoyanov
I'm glad that I still haven't rebooted since then to get rid of the
annoying situation and the observed anomaly still eats almost all of my
CPU cycles, so here is the requested info.

First of all, I am unable to do successfully (gdb) attach PID as
described in the wiki -- I get no permission. Is it safe to run the
gdb commands from the wiki as root?

sudo strace -p 5771 was more straightforward and resulted in a
continuously scrolling ( 3000 lines until a CTRL+C) message:

[Bug 85521] Re: gconfd-2 doesn't stop for previous user logged into GNOME

2007-02-16 Thread Ivailo Stoyanov
Well, I have tried to run the described steps (for an already running
program) with sudo and here the output is attached.

It is interesting that after issuing attach 5771 the CPU usage dropped
to normal levels (2-3%), but when I said quit at the gdb prompt and
exited anyway, the CPU was again at 100% use by the same process.

[Bug 85521] Re: gconfd-2 doesn't stop for previous user logged into GNOME

2007-02-16 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thank you for the work on that. That's normal that the CPU usage stops
when gdb attach the process because it stops it. The backtrace looks
like a problem, it lacks details to be useful though. Could you try to
build a debug package for gconf2 as explained on
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProgramCrash?

[Bug 25106] Re: evolution-exchange: unable to setup exchange account

2007-02-16 Thread cfrein
I have the same problems in dapper/edgy/feisty with the setup of an
exchange-account in evolution.

Access per OWA per https://owa-server/exchange/username ist still
possible.

My workaround is to directly call exchange-connector-setup-2.x, which
creates the account. I enter the same information as in evolution (which
doesn't work!) and it works well.

Thanks for the responses. I've just installed the Gstreamer version

that might be fixed with the new versions of Ubuntu edgy or feisty, that
doesn't mean that the new version of the distribution has better
stability than the one you are using though, you should probably not
update only for that. New versions are not better supported than dapper,
no

[Bug 85420] Re: gnome-cups-manager settings ignored

2007-02-16 Thread Chris Conway
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 67164 ***

I can't confirm or deny whether this is a legitimate dupe---I'm not
using feisty and an attempt to build the backport of evince/gtk+2.0
failed, so I don't know if the patch for the other bug resolves my
problem---but I will note that my problem is not implied by the other
bug report. As I understand bug #67164, options chosen in the Print
dialog are ignored when the job is sent to the printer. In my case,
defaults chosen in gnome-cups-manager are ignored in the Print dialog.
If I change the options in the Print dialog, the job will print as
desired.

When I use exchange-connector-setup-2.8 (in 6.10) and provide:

[Bug 76632] Re: screen does not unlock after locking

I can confirm it as well. How I solved the problem was I went into

gnome-power-manager, and then I disabled lock_on_blank_screen,
lock_on_hibernate, and lock_on_suspend. This disables screen lock, which
is only a shoddy, temporary solution, but hey it works. Hope this helps.

[Bug 85594] gnome-terminal has scrolling problems when using screen

2007-02-16 Thread Roland Dreier
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-terminal

I'm using feisty, and since the update to gnome-terminal 2.17.91, I see
some very annoying problems when using screen with a status bar at the
bottom (so that the scrolling area is not the full terminal display
window). To reproduce this:

- start screen in a gnome-terminal window (screen)
- after the screen splash screen, set up a status bar: hit CTRL-A :
(control A followed by a colon) to get a screen command prompt,
  and then enter hardstatus alwayslastline

this should produce an inverted line at the bottom of the screen.
- then run a shell command that will produce enough output to cause
the screen to scroll, something like

clear; for i in $(seq 100); do echo $i; done

On my system, this causes the gnome-terminal window to go completely
blank, until I press a key, which causes the screen to refresh.

Changing the value 100 to 50 in the above command causes slightly
different (still broken) behavior -- some of the intermediate output is
displayed instead of a blank window, until I enter something, which
causes the display to refresh to the correct state.

Dia on Feisty don't create menu item.
Calling dia from command line is ok.
Restarting X or Gnome or pc don't resolve it.

2007-02-16 Thread Jelle de Jong
is this the same bug:

In some pdf files there are links to websites and emails that someone
can clink on an the webrowser will open this link. When a website land
email inks in a pdf file opened with evince-gtk in xubutu 6.10 are
clickt they do nothing. They are not working. When run from the
commanline no information is given when the website links do not open a
browser. How can we solve this problem?

It is the purposes that the link can be automatically open. There for
the functionality in evince when right clinking on a link en select open
link is there. but this is not working in my xubuntu. how can we solve
it (not asking for alternatives)
