[Bug 789624] Re: nautilus can't open files until its statusbar updated

2011-06-02 Thread u-foka
Hy!

I've checked .xsession-errors with tail -f and there were no new lines
when I double clicked on a picture and it refused to open.. (However
there were messages when the file opened but those should be irrelevant)

Can I send debug information any other way?

This is happening to me too and it's really annoying. It's like the

doesn't work (and yes I've enable it in compiz settings).

[Bug 787582] Re: styles disappear, gnome-settings-daemon hangs, must force kill and restart it

2011-06-02 Thread Markus
I just noticed something else! Here is a series of screenshot which show
the problem happening:

01 - This is how it looks like right after logging in, before the styles
disappear
02 - When it happened
03 - When I killed and restarted gnome-settings-manager AND nautilus

(in 01 and 02 I erased some desktop icons, so do not wonder about that)

In the last screenshot 03 I marked the symbols in the top bar - they
look different than those at 01!

So when I log in an the symbols look like 01, I am sure the crash will
happen. When I log in and it looks like 03, I know the crash won't
happen. Maybe this helps?

[Bug 765514] Re: printing certain pdfs (samsung 1660, pdf generated using lyx/latex) works using pdftoraster but not pdftoraster-poppler

2011-06-02 Thread adamreichold
I think that I have the same or at least a related problem: When
printing djvu files to my Samsung ML-2010R using the SPLIX driver, I
repeatedly got session timeouts and and a very high CPU utilization due
to pdftoraster-poppler. Replacing /usr/lib/cups/filter/pdftoraster-
poppler by a symlink to /usr/lib/cups/filter/pdftoraster solves the
problem. The printer is fed as fast as possible and the CPU utilization
does not skyrocket.

Could it be that the SPLIX driver triggers a bug in the poppler code?
(Maybe this interesting: The problem goes away as well by using the
foomatic/GDI driver instead of the SPLIX driver. But in my opinion the
foomatic/GDI driver lacks features and printout quality is lower.)

[Bug 791739] [NEW] language selection list in GDM contains duplicate and unwanted entries

2011-06-02 Thread spi
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gdm

I updated Maverick to Natty and added to the German locale a Russian
one. Russian is the system wide locale, one user uses German locale by
choosing German in the GDM language selection list to get German menus
and messages. The LANG/LANGUAGE/LC_* variables are all set
appropriately.

In GDM in the language list the users now unfortunately get the following list
of languages presented:
1) Unspecified [ANSI_X3.4-1968]
2) German (Germany)
3) German
4) Russian (Russian Federation)
5) Russian

The 'other' entry only lists Russian and German.

The current 'locale -a' is
C
de_DE.utf8
POSIX
ru_RU.utf8

The LANGUAGE environment variable for the German user is set to
'de_DE:de:ru'.

I've tried several times to clean up the locale and start from scratch
only with a Russian one but I can't get rid of the additional entries in
the GDM language selection list. I can't either find a list of GDM
maintained languages I could delete the unneeded languages from.

To sum up what I've done so far is:
- set up locale from scratch - didn't help
- checked the file system for cached GDM files - no one found
- checked with 'gconftool -g /apps/gdm/simple-greeter/recent-languages' the
language settings - the key is empty
- run gdm in debug mode - didn't find anything

Any help would be appreciated.

[Bug 791451] Re: unit for Kelvin is just K

2011-06-02 Thread Marcel Stimberg
Thank you for your bug report. I can confirm gcalctool is using degree
Kelvin but K instead of °K would be correct.

BTW: The German translation file has the following comment, stating that the
original string is nonsense ;-)
# Ist eigentlich Quatsch, Kelvin wird schon lange nicht mehr als »Grad Kelvin«
bezeichnet, weil es ja eine absolute und keine relative Temperatureinheit ist.

[Bug 785784] Re: error in Polish translation: volume

2011-06-02 Thread Marcel Stimberg
Thank you for your bug report. Reporting translation bugs is perfectly
fine, it just needs a task for the ubuntu-translations project (I'll add
one now). More information here:

I can confirm the wrong translation, wikipedia translates volume as

[Bug 697358] Re: Regression in window list applet (wnck-applet) behavior

2011-06-02 Thread Matthew
This bug affects me. The only workaround that works for me is the
changing-background one. Something else to add that no one else seems
to have noticed: The window buttons automatically rearrange themselves
in order of activity - if you use a window more, its button moves
rightwards in the list. This is not caused by a Compiz plugin - I
disabled plugins in turn and still experienced the behaviour. As a side
note, the trigger for the workaround stopping working is the buttons
rearranging themselves...

[Bug 791787] [NEW] gnome-appearance-properties not installing themes correctly

Public bug reported:

I'm on Ubuntu 11.04 64bit, and am having difficulties installing new
themes from GNOME-Look.org, where they would not install succesfully as

[Bug 624755] Re: to remove a pen drive have to use safely remove drive twice

2011-06-02 Thread Olivier PONCET
Same behaviour (on natty 11.04) for me on my ASUS M2NPV-VM motherboard.

Using safe remove remounts the usb key a few seconds after the action.

I think that there is a little problem with Nvidia's USB chipsets.

I always have this message on my dmesg:

[10420.100709] WARNING! power/level is deprecated; use power/control
instead

Does anybody knows how to switch on power/control instead of power/level
(to see if the problem persists) ?

[Bug 791823] [NEW] Closing opened subfolders after moving a message

2011-06-02 Thread Veger
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

When moving a message to another folder (using the mouse), folders
automatically show their subfolders when hovering above them (very
convenient). But after the move was completed (or canceled) all opened
folders stay open instead to reverting to their original (closed)
states.

So when moving slowely over the folder list, they are all opened and it
is quite some work to close them all again

[Bug 788537] Re: Evolution dies on startup pthread

2011-06-02 Thread Pedro Villavicencio
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is either missing or
challenging to deal with as a .crash file. Please follow these
instructions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can
be dealt with by the automatic retracer.

If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable
apport in /etc/default/apport and restart.

Now open your file manager, navigate to your /var/crash directory and open the
crash report you wish to submit.
If this fails you will have to open a terminal and file your report with
'ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash' where _my_crash_report.crash is
the crash you would like to report. If you get an error that you aren't allowed
to access this report you will have to file it with 'sudo ubuntu-bug
/var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash'.

I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will
automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more
efficiently. Thanks in advance for your cooperation and understanding.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu

enough information. You may find it helpful to read How to report bugs
effectively http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be
grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem.
We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures.
At a minimum, we need:
1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the
problem,
2. the behavior you expected, and
3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).
Thanks!

When reporting bugs in the future please use apport, either via the

it will attach all the required files to it, thanks and i'm closing this
