[Bug 994949] Re: When nautilus opens it is not the active window

2012-05-05 Thread Javier P.L.
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. I could reproduce it with Ubuntu 12.04 in the amd64 and
the i368 architectures. Please answer these questions:

* Is this reproducible?
* If so, what specific steps should we take to recreate this bug?

This will help us to find and resolve the problem.

[Bug 995038] Re: Libre Office monopolizes focus in Unity

2012-05-05 Thread Javier P.L.
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 994949 ***

Hi, thanks for taking the time to improve Ubuntu, I can confirm this bug too,
however it only happens with nautilus, so, I'll reassign the bug to nautilus,
and will mark it as duplicate of bug #994949. Please look at the other bug
report to see if there is any missing information that you can provide, or to
see if there is a workaround for the bug. Additionally, any further discussion
regarding the bug should occur in the other report. Feel free to continue to
report any other bugs you may find.

[Bug 994949] Re: When nautilus opens it is not the active window

2012-05-05 Thread Javier P.L.
Thanks for the response (and the video!) I can confirm it, however I
believe that the problem must be in the nautilus lack of focus instead
of libreoffice, or chrome, I was able to see the same performance with
firefox, however coudn't reproduce it with the «software center» .
Summarizing I'd say that the steps to reproduce it would be:

1.- Open LibreOffice/Firefox in a precise installation
2.- Open Nautilus
3.- See how nautilus doesn't take the focus

[Bug 58941] Re: omit Album information for files w/o album information

2012-11-06 Thread Javier P.L.
Gnome bug #328971 is about tags, this one (Gnome bug #556828) about
album entries, both reports are open and seem forgotten, probably they
wont be fixed upstream in a close future, the attached patch never was
accepted in upstream and isn't applicable in ubuntu anymore.

It's present in 2.98-0ubuntu1 (raring) and there is also a report in
Debian #680584 (which may indicate they also have it).

I'm not programmer, however, maybe someone in the ninja papercut team
knows C and can provide a patch.

[Bug 1113648] [NEW] Add a context menu entry to create a new blank file

2013-02-02 Thread Javier P.L.
Public bug reported:

Release of Ubuntu: Raring, 13.04
Package Version: 3.6.3-0ubuntu5
Expected Results: Be able to create an empty file from the context menu
Actual Results: There's not possible till I create manually an empty file in
$HOME/Templates

There is no easy way to create 'new blank' files in Files, you can do it
by creating a file in $HOME/Templates/new or by installing an extension:

http://www.webupd8.org/2012/11/add-new-empty-file-entry-to-
nautilus-36.html

I don't think normal people will be interested in doing any of those
procedures, exist a Gnome bug about it:

https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=687139

But it's closed, so I'd like to see this fixed in Ubuntu at least, what
about providing some default files so people using Ubuntu can create
empty files since the first boot?

[Bug 1115570] [NEW] The authorization windows goes blank if idle for a short amount of time

2013-02-04 Thread Javier P.L.
Public bug reported:

Release of Ubuntu: Ubuntu Raring - 13.04
Package Version: 3.6.3-0ubuntu2

The authorization windows goes blank if idle for a short amount of time,
the steps to reproduce it are as follow:

1.- Open Empathy
A new 'Online Account's window is displayed
2.- Select Google in the right-hand pane from the 'Online Accounts' window
The Google sign-in box appears
3.- Idle for 1-3 min
The application goes blank

What I'd expect is that the google sign-in box still stay there if I
take some minutes to log-in

Did you even read the report Bilal?, there you'll find the steps to
reproduce it one by one, you should stop marking bugs as Incomplete |
Invalid just for the sake of triaging.

Anyway the ping made me retry the steps and the bug has just changed
from leaving the window empty to getting back to the main menu of the
Online Accounts app, which btw is where the bug lives, I got the
package wrong. I'm marking this bug as duplicate of bug #1129697 which
as been marked as confirmed.

It also fails if you try to execute gnome-control-center on a headless

something, probably will take them a reasonable effort (or hack) to make
an exception for --version.

[Bug 60448] Re: .xsession-errors file grows out of control saturates disk space

2014-07-10 Thread Javier P.L.
I became affected by this bug after passing control to /etc/X11/Xsession
from ~/.xinitrc with Slim as login manager, since I barely log
out/reboot I started looking for a way to fix it and I found a quite
clean way to do it in this post:

http://www.mail-archive.com/debian-edu@lists.debian.org/msg14226.html

By creating a /etc/Xsession.d/05noerrfile file.

I think it should be considered to be the default behavior.

I'm running Ubuntu 12.04, slim, i3.
