[Bug 258936] Re: lists standard mounts as picture cds

I don't think this has anything to do with Brasero as such, because I've
seen those nautilus top-bars also with other programs, IIRC.

[Bug 175191] Re: f-spot changes timestamp in an incorrect way

2008-11-18 Thread Marcus Sundman
I believe we have actually two bugs here:
1) some dates aren't converted correctly when displayed, and
2) the EXIF DateTimeOriginal is modified even though f-spot should never modify
it automatically.

Now, 1 is annoying but not really that bad, whereas 2 is what corrupts
the user's data and is thus quite bad.

[Bug 123492] Re: Most applications can't access "Connect to Server" mounts

2008-05-13 Thread Marcus Sundman
Ross, that's not how it's supposed to work. However, it doesn't work the
way it's supposed to work either. E.g., if do I Places -> Connect to
Server... -> SSH, and then try to open the file with xine (using
nautilus) then the correct path is used (~/.gvfs/sftp on ...), but if I
try to open the file with vlc (again using nautilus) then the "wrong"
(gvfs-aware) path is used (sftp://...). There seems to be some problem
with detecting which apps are gvfs-aware and which need the gvfs-fuse-
path.

I just disabled and re-enabled the desktop effects and now the metacity themes
don't have a left border on maximized windows! There still seems to be a
1-pixel border on the right border, though.
(Also, all gtk themes using the smooth engine seems to have a border for
maximized windows hardcoded into them. At least I can't find any parameters
that would affect the border when I try to modify existing themes' gtkrc files.)

[Bug 42690] Re: Nautilus list view calls non-empty folders "empty" while they load

2007-02-02 Thread Marcus Sundman
Low importance?!? I've lost so much stuff because of this bug! I switch open a
folder and it says "(empty)" so I Shift-Delete it (instead of normal Delete
because the bad implementation of the trash-thingy make it so utterly useless)
and I just catch a glimpse of my files appearing in the list immediately before
they disappear to the great bit-bucket in the sky. This bug causes data loss so
it's damn close to "critical"!
And don't say that people should wait and see if a folder will show files,
because there is nothing indicating that it's still loading (which is a problem
even efter it starts showing files, one doesn't know when it has finished
scanning the folder).
And yeah, I should have backups. Still, because of this bug I just LOST the
backup of one of my DVDs, and I needed it (the DVD was a very expensive
instructional video)! I'm so mad right now that I could kill the moron who made
nautilus say the folder is "empty" when it really contained very important
files.

[Bug 118892] The side pane tree doesn't expand

2007-06-05 Thread Marcus Sundman
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

- Make sure nautilus defaults to list view and displays a side panel tree.
- Create a folder "foo" with a subfolder "bar". (I've made a ramdisk at
/tmp/ram0 and the path /tmp/ram0/foo/bar/)
- Bookmark "bar" in nautilus.
- Select Places->bar in the panel (this should open a window displaying
foo/bar/).
- Select "Home Folder" in the side panel tree.
- Collapse the parent of "foo" in the side panel tree (this hides foo and bar
from the tree).
- Select Bookmarks->bar from the menu bar.
BUG: Now "foo/bar/" is displayed, but the side panel tree is not expanded
showing foo or bar.

At this point you can make the tree behave weird in different ways. If you play
around with it for a while you will not be able to select any directories in
the tree (although you can still expand and collapse them). I don't know an
exact procedure to make that happen, but here's another thing you can do:
- Expand the parent to "foo", so that "foo" is visible in the side panel tree.
- Collapse the parent to "foo", so that "foo" is no longer visible in the side
panel tree.
BUG: Now you can select any folder from the side panel tree _except_ the parent
of "foo". It stays "semi-selected" somehow. (Hiding and re-showing the side
panel will fix it.)

This is not a duplicate of bug #32589, which is about directories not
displayable in the side pane tree. In my case the directories are not special
and could be shown in the tree.
Bug #32589, OTOH, seems to be similar to a bugreport I was just about to file,
namely that the dir in the tree is not deselected when entering a hidden dir
(which can't be shown in the tree).

[Bug 32589] Re: Selection doesn't change when visiting a special location

2007-07-19 Thread Marcus Sundman
This also happens for non-special locations that can't be shown in the side
pane tree. E.g., if you configure nautilus not to show hidden files (which also
hides hidden dirs) and then enter a hidden dir the previous dir isn't
deselected in the side pane tree.
Hiding are re-showing the side pane "fixes" this (well, actually it always
deselects the dir even if it shouldn't, so it's actually another bug, but one
that works well together with this bug).
