[Bug 1775881] [NEW] Every time I boot up ubuntu, the login screen looks like a static TV screen. This does not occur with other login manages, only gdm3
Public bug reported: Ubuntu Version 18.04 LTS gdm3: Installed: 3.28.0-0ubuntu1 500 Package name: /etc/gdm3 Whenever I boot Ubuntu following installation from the official install ISO, the boot screen appears, but the login manager appears as static, scrambled graphics, making me unable to login without opening the VT and installing lightdm and switching to that login manager. Expected Results: Login manager appears with login field, background, and menu while I am able to find, click, and enter information into the login text fields. Actual Results: Scrambled noise appeared on my screen and I am unable to leave without force-shutting down my Gateway PC, or opening a VT and installing lightdm, rebooting afterwards. [Bug 1775955] [NEW] I get an "Unable to install "IDEA Community": forbidden" error even though clicking the install button initiated the download and installation sucessfully
Public bug reported: When I attempted to install "IDEA Community," gnome-software gave me an error saying "Unable to install 'IDEA Community': forbidden," and then less than a second later, I was prompted for my password, and upon entering it in, the installation started without issue. The problem is that the error occurred even though the download and installation happened successfully WITHOUT my having to click on the "install" button again, so this is a false error. Steps to Reproduce: 1. Launch GNOME Software Center 2. Click on IDEA Community 3. Click on the Install button 4. Notice that a "forbidden" error is raised and then you are prompted for a password. Enter the password and find that the installation proceeds without issue. Expected Results: Installation begins without any "Unable to install" messages Actual Results: "forbidden" error appears even though an authentication window appeared, and entering the password correctly initiated the download and installation. [Bug 1775881] Re: [radeon] Every time I boot up ubuntu, the login screen looks like a static TV screen. This does not occur with other login manages, only gdm3
Mr. van Vugt, Thank you for taking the time to respond: The only way I was able to do so was using nano in a VT. After I uncommented the line and saved the .conf file, I rebooted the machine. Uncommenting the line seemed to so appears to resolve the issue. However, the problem is that the installation disc was able to do it manually while the installed OS did not. Public bug reported: When I attempted to send a bug report for gnome-control-center via terminal, the Apport window appeared saying "Collecting information". This issue occurred at around 11:54 AM, EDT, on December 15, 2019. [Bug 1856479] [NEW] Document Viewer displays the first page on the right side instead of the left when I select "Dual" in the view menu, despite the PDF being multiple pages (more than 2)
Public bug reported: When I opened a PDF in Document Viewer, and then set the view mode to "dual", I noticed how the pdf application put the first page on the right side, which does not look as good as putting the page on the left side and page 2 on the right side. Steps to Reproduce: 1. Open the attached PDF in Document Viewer 2. Set the view to Dual 3. Notice the odd number page is to the right when it should be to the left by default. [Bug 1856710] [NEW] Gnome's window manager put Firefox's window on the left half of the screen when Firefox was on the right side of the screen when I gave the PC a reboot command via the Menu Bar

Public bug reported: When I searched in Gnome for settings related to printing, I had a result that said "Settings - About", and so I clicked on it expecting to be able to go to Settings' main menu. However, the back button only took me to the submenu and then BACK to the About page, which makes going to the main menu impossible. One can reproduce this issue by searching for a setting in Gnome, clicking on it, and then clicking the back button only to be in a loop. [Bug 1855491] Re: Terminal text ends up overlapping with I attempt to push the up button while another command is running, such as ubuntu-bug
I expected the next command to start on the next line underneath the "^[[A^[[A^[[A" text (actually, it would be nice if the "^[[A^[[A^[[A" text did not appear at all. However, if that is not feasible, then the former applies). What happened instead was terminal displaying characters from the line while garbling the text as I went though my bash history. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-terminal in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1855491 Title: Terminal text ends up overlapping with I attempt to push the up button while another command is running, such as ubuntu-bug To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-terminal/+bug/1855491/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1855495] [NEW] Ubuntu Software is unable to install a package for drivers for my Radeon HD 6450
Public bug reported: Whenever I attempt to install a .deb package for radeon for ubuntu 18.04, instead of installing, Ubuntu Software goes to 100%, but then reverts the Install button back. Not even a warning or error. [Bug 1853783] [NEW] Nautilus crashes whenever I attempt to format a USB with a partition table
Public bug reported: Whenever I attempt to format a USB I previous used for a live install back into a regular FAT disk, nautilus reports "gtk_widget_set_visible: assertion 'GTK_IS_WIDGET (widget)' failed Trace/breakpoint trap (core dumped)" and then crashes. I ran "ubuntu-bug nautilus" right after I clicked the Format button, right before the crash itself. To reproduce the issue: 1. Insert an ubuntu live usb 2. Open Files 3. Right-click on the USB 4. Select Format 5. If the format menu appears, click the red format button Expected Results: Either the USB partitions are cleared and the entire disk is formatted to be FAT (preferred), or if that is not an option, Files should warn me it has a partition table and close instead of opening the Format Menu and then crashing later. Actual Results: Gnome-Disks alerts the USB cannot be formatted, and then nautilus crashes. Public bug reported: Whenever I boot up ubuntu and attempt to format a plugged-in or mounted USB, the Format button has no effect when clicked on; not even an error message. If there is an error, Ubuntu should let me know or not allow me to format by disabling to format option. Steps to Reproduce: 1. Boot up Ubuntu on the hard disk with a live-usb of ubuntu plugged in (this will be the USB to attempt to format) 2. Log in and open Files 3. I was forced to open a tty session and reboot. Expected Results: The command runs but the screen does not turn black until I initiate a shutdown/reboot Actual Results: The screen turns black and the startup tasks and status appear over a black background, as it would when I push the up key when ubuntu starts up. [Bug 1853860] [NEW] Nautilus will show two paritions as mounted for a USB even after that USB had a new image written to it.
Public bug reported: When the startup disk creator writes a new image to the disk, it still displays the partitions of the USB prior to the image being written, which is problematic because after the image is written, nautilus changes all of the partitions on the sidebar to the first partition on the USB, and attempting to click on any mounted drive other than the first one listed causes nautilus to give a disk error saying there may be a bad superblock as the drive could not be opened. Steps to Reproduce: 1. Insert a USB Drive with multiple partitions 2. Mount two of those partitions 3. Write an image to the USB drive via Startup Disk Creator 4. Notice how Nautilus shows the drives as accessible 5. Wait until the image writing is complete 6. Go back to Nautilus 7. Notice how there are two entries for the USB with the new image on it 8. Click on the second entry Expected Results: 1. Nautilus should not show USB drives that are having its entire contents formatted and repartitioned 2. Even if 1. was intended behavior, nautilus should only have the first partition of the usb with the new image written open 3. There should be no superblock error, as nautilus should not have gotten to the point in which it reports the error in the first place. Actual Results: Nautilus says it is unable to access the 2nd partition even though it is not even mounted because it displayed the partitions of the usb prior to the ubuntu image being written to the USB and did not update its UI to show the USB has a new name and only has one partition mounted (the first one with the OS info on it).
