[Bug 1754425] WifiSyslog.txt
apport information ** Attachment added: "WifiSyslog.txt" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1754425/+attachment/5080493/+files/WifiSyslog.txt ** Description changed: If I open the lid, it seems that the computer flat-out doesn't wake up. HOWEVER, if I wait patiently more than 20 seconds, and press (not hold) the power button, SOMETIMES, the computer will "snap out of it" and come back to my desktop. Although RAM is 25% used, and CPU usage is around 25-50% or less (depending on apps), mouse will regularly freeze up for some seconds every 10 seconds or so. Wifi will claim to be "on", but there aren't any networks in the "select network" dialogue. Turning wifi off and then on does not fix this problem. So I'll be in this terrifying state of non-responsive every few seconds computer, with no ability to reconnect to networks and report bug. I force restart. The first restart, upon login, will hang indefinitely on a purple screen with the cursor in the middle. I will have to force restart again. Upon 2nd restart, it will boot "normally". [Bug 1754425] Re: Lots of pcieport and nvme kernel errors - system non-responsive
Today, it behaved similarly after closing the lid. Weird cycle of black screen, power button turning off, screen momentarily flashing the cursor low and in the middle of screen. However, unlike before, after patiently wading through the mire, after about 90 seconds, I was able to enter my password, and the system so far isn't hanging every few seconds, and it connected to wifi almost immediately upon waking! Ran apport info diagnostics above. Maybe it's the new kernel that came out last night? [Bug 1754425] Re: Lots of pcieport and nvme kernel errors - system non-responsive
Very bizarre development. Woke from lid close 3 times perfectly in the past few days. Today, blinked black and barely-visible-for-an-instant cursor for over 60seconds, so i force reset. attaching apport logs. ** Description changed: If I open the lid, it seems that the computer flat-out doesn't wake up.
I think I've solved the mystery. I was very bothered that I was the only/first one having it, given the ubiquity of my hardware. I believe this theory also explains why it sometimes awoke just fine from lid closed, but sometimes was all broken. I believe my setting for "what to do when lid closes" got lost in upgrade to 18.04, so it wasn't suspending, and maybe wasn't doing anything at all! Then, if I happened to place it on good surfaces, it'd be fine and "wake up". When I placed it on bad surfaces, like bed sheets or other cloths, it'd overheat and cook itself into insanity, so when I opened the lid, it wouldn't "wake up" because it was cooked into a fever dream. This is my best guess. I'll let you know if I experience the issue any more, now that I've explicitly chosen "suspend" for "lid close" in Settings. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-shell in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1754425 Title: Lots of pcieport and nvme kernel errors - system non-responsive To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell/+bug/1754425/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1852053] Re: Nautilus Crashes when opening search field and entering first character
Ok, maybe some progress. It appears I can search among a maximal number of hits. So that depends per folder. And as soon as Nautilus start to crash, I have to start all over by rebooting, as even small searches then crash. (Logging out/in does not make a difference.) This bug is proof. Got to report a bug. Click "I don't know" radio for "In what package did you find this bug?" Optional: delete the package in unselected radio button below "I don't know" Bug will still be filed under a package; in this case, evince. [Bug 1969140] Re: Window minimize animation flickers and appears in the wrong place in Xorg sessions
After using GNOME 43 Xorg with Debian Bookworm 5.19, I rebooted into Ubuntu 22.04 Xorg 5.15, did some checks and found out that on my Ryzen laptop this was caused by the amd_pstate scaling driver which lowers the minimum CPU frequency down to 400 Mhz instead of the 1400 Mhz default on the acpi_cpufreq which Debian uses. Debian (acpi_cpufreq) behaved perfectly on both Xorg and Wayland, so I enabled the amd_pstate scaling driver and this issue came up the exact same way as in Ubuntu: it seems that scaling down a much lower cpu frequency and then back up all the times can cause some performance penalties and glitches. To me it's fine because in the Xorg session I disabled the animations and the battery life is noticeably better with the amd_pstate scaling driver, but as usual ymmv! -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to mutter in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1969140 Title: Window minimize animation flickers and appears in the wrong place in Xorg sessions To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/mutter/+bug/1969140/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 126057] Switching visualisation screen in fullscreen mode doesnt work correctly
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: rhythmbox I have a two screen setup. When using the visualtion plugin, there is a little combo box for picking which screen to appear on (i dont know whether this exists or not on a single screen setup). Having the visualisation running in fullscreen, and then switching the option to change screens doesnt work correctly. There are at least 2 ways it fails, on switch on my setup will cause the window to move to the correct screen, but it wont be fullscreen, and the visualistaion becomes invisible. Switching the other way just causes nothing to happen. However it is possible to workaround by switching to embedded mode and back to fullscreen. [Bug 119213] Re: Icons in GNOME Panel 2.18.1 change order
Adding some more info, mine was closed as a duplicate and didnt realise you needed more. The problem i am having is that right justified panel applets are rearaning order on login sometimes, the worst two offenders being the clock and notification applets swapping, and the waste bin/workspace switcher swapping. This is without desktop effects enabled, so even though that is mentioned in the first report i dont thing that matter. Also, this only started happening on a gutsy upgrade. On some logins, they are displayed in the correct order, and other times not. Attached a screen shot of the trash/workspace switcher being the wrong way (by default the trash icon is on the right, with the workspace switcher on the left, in this instance they have swapped for no reason). ** Attachment added: Screenshot.png http://launchpadlibrarian.net/8642189/Screenshot.png -- Icons in GNOME Panel 2.18.1 change order https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/119213 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

You have been subscribed to a public bug: Binary package hint: xchat-gnome After starting xchat-gnome, as the server output reaches the point where it asks for nickserv authentication, xchat-gnome hangs for a short while. While it is hung, it doesn't respond normally to anything. Mousing over the text box at the bottom of the screen causes the mouse cursor to disappear while in that box. Any typing in that box is no further displayed, even if you're in the middle of typing in the customary /msg nickserv identify whatever - it simply stops accepting input at the time of the hang.
