2009-01-06 Thread dotnetCarpenter
Hi Jason.

Do you think it would be foolish of me to try your workaround for my problem?

Sorry a noob when it comes to linux/ubuntu

I get 4 lines that says something like:

ah I found it in kern.log:

at least I think its it. The time is about right so...

I'm contemplating installing uswsusp but I hope that there will be a fix

How many bytes do Ubuntu need to swap for hibernation? Or how can it be
measured? I mean, if its a matter of freeing up space, I can always
repartition my hard drive. Sorry for not getting the basics here - I'm
really just guessing.

[Bug 527271] [NEW] Changing password is out of sync with passwd

2010-02-24 Thread dotnetCarpenter
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 307019 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/307019

Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-control-center

After changing password and reboot, I could not login with my new
password. The old password worked but I Ubuntu was unable to mount my
directory, consequently rendering Ubuntu unusable. I saw two error
messages and then just the desktop background with no menu. tty did work
but I don't know how to use Ubuntu in that mode.

Looks like this bug was fixed in my current release 9.10 according to
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-control-center/+bug/307019 but
I just had the same issue.
Basically it happen as described in bug 307019

I think importance should be set to high as I as a newbie used 2 weeks
to find that I could use passwd (I couldn't use my computer).

2010-03-01 Thread dotnetCarpenter
@Milan Bouchet-Valat: The 2.9 series? What do you mean? It can't be
Ubuntu so I guess you mean Linux, but that has never been a problem
because you can use psswd which always works. This bug is about the
gnome-control-center (Ubuntu) that has a bug.

Are you sure about your categorization?
