There is no 'pre-join' so you need to join them as the irc gateway is to
the entire gimpnet. So do something like:

/join #_gimpnet_#nautilus:matrix.org

similar to gnome-photos.

The bridge is for a whole network, not per room. The rooms that appear
in the directory are just the ones for which at least one Matrix user
already joined (so they are “known”). You can join any room as Matthew

Matthew, anything blocking the bridging on our side?

Nothing blocking at all; it's all on our side, which has ended up
blocked on FOSDEM - we've had to prioritise a sprint to ship new
releases for FOSDEM and are currently all on trains to Brussels. It's
top of the IRC bridging backlog and we should get to it early next
week. Sorry for the delay...

Hi all,

We've finally set up a bridge hosted by matrix.org that links GIMPNet into
Matrix (as per the earlier bits of this thread). Sorry that it took so long to
happen: FOSDEM ended up being even crazier than we expected, and we've spent
the last month handling the traffic increases and operational excitements that
came off the back of it.

The bridge has been set up to provide access to all of GIMPNet through matrix
room aliases of form:

#_gimpnet_${channelname}:matrix.org

e.g.

#_gimpnet_#gtk+:matrix.org

The easiest way to use the new bridge is probably through Riot, the current
flagship Matrix client: URLs for direct access to a room via riot-web are of
the form:

You can also join using "/join #_gimpnet_#gtk+:matrix.org" style syntax, or
using the graphical room directory (button linked from the bottom left).

We haven't turned on guest access on the bridge, so users are forced to
register an account (and go through a captcha) before joining channels.

You can spot folks connecting via Matrix as by default they have a [m] suffix
on their nickname.

Feedback very welcome! We are still in beta, and very interested in making sure
it fits the bill for communities like GNOME :)

I don't know how soon it'll be. The Flatpak manifest goal is a small
goal (the files are even already written, it's just moving them and
doing small edits). If it's useful during 6 months or one year, that's
already worthwhile. It's easy to remove the Flatpak manifests once (and

GNOME 3.23.91

2017-03-02 Thread Matthias Clasen
Hi,

GNOME 3.23.91 is now available. This is our second beta release on the
way to 3.24. Please try it and let us know how well it works for you.

With the second beta our Freeze continues and deepens:

 - API/ABI Freeze (No API or ABI changes should be made in the
   platform libraries),

 - Feature Freeze (No new features can be added anymore, let's focus
on stability and give the documentation team time to document it all),

 - UI Freeze (same idea),

- String Freeze (Our translators are working hard to give us great translations
in more that 50 languages, but they can only do that if we stop changing
  strings for a while).

As always, you can request a freeze break if you think your change should
be committed before 3.24. Details are available on the wiki:
  https://wiki.gnome.org/ReleasePlanning/Freezes#The_Freeze
  https://wiki.gnome.org/ReleasePlanning/RequestingFreezeBreaks

To compile GNOME 3.23.91, you can use the jhbuild modulesets published
by the release team (which use the exact tarball versions from the official
release):

   https://developer.gnome.org/jhbuild/stable/

WARNING!
-

This release is a snapshot of development code. Although it is buildable and
usable, it is primarily intended for testing and hacking purposes. GNOME
uses odd minor version numbers to indicate development status.

For more information about 3.23, the full schedule, the official module lists
and the proposed module lists, please see our colorful 3.23 page:

I can take ownership of:
https://wiki.gnome.org/Initiatives/GnomeGoals/AddCodeCoverage

I will update the description.

For the list of modules, I can merge the current list with the list
from:
https://wiki.gnome.org/Initiatives/GnomeGoals/Template

I'll not actively see if more modules can be marked as done, nor file
bugs for every module, that's a task for each individual module
maintainer.

I'm not sure it is a good idea to merge the two goals (installed tests +
code coverage). When filing a bug in bugzilla, it should cover only one
task. The installed tests make sense only if it'll actually be used, for
example by GNOME Continuous. I don't know if all modules listed in the
Template page are built by GNOME Continuous.
