I was unaware of that problem and I kept using all the services. It looks like software center used 'ivoks-y' account for my purchases. Now, when I try installing previously purchased applications in Software Center, it still sets private PPA repositories with 'ivoks-y' username. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 836250] Re: [Oneiric] [Regression] Intel Corporation Centrino Ultimate-N 6300 poor networking, packet loss and very slow Lenovo X201 and T500 laptops
I have just attached a kernel patch, I'd appreciate if somebody could try it out. This patch was prepared against 3.2-rc kernel, and parts of it (the changes in the iwl-mac80211.c file) will not directly apply to older kernels as we moved some code around. Those parts should apply to iwl- agn.c instead. Alternatively, I might work with somebody more familiar with ubuntu to provide backport packages including this patch. The patch allows a more fine-grained 11n_disable. Instead of 11n_disable=1, it would be interesting to see if, for example, 11n_disable=2 also helps. The possible values are: 11n_disable=1: disable HT completely 11n_disable=2: disable TX aggregation only 11n_disable=4: disable RX aggregation only 11n_disable=6: disable both RX and TX aggregation (the other bit combinations don't make sense since disabling HT already disables aggregation) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to network-manager in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/836250 Title: [Oneiric] [Regression] Intel Corporation Centrino Ultimate-N 6300 poor networking, packet loss and very slow Lenovo X201 and T500 laptops Status in The Linux Kernel: In Progress Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu: Triaged Status in “network-manager” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in “linux” source package in Oneiric: Triaged Status in “network-manager” source package in Oneiric: Confirmed Status in “linux” source package in Precise: Triaged Status in “network-manager” source package in Precise: Confirmed Bug description: This may be either network-manager or kernel, depending on triage... The only way to access it is to have the button placed on the toolbar. Usually, on wide-screen machines, people hide toolbars and such to maximize vertical space. Also, the ubiquitous keyboard bindings for back and forward is Alt+Left and Alt+Right (say, in Adobe reader). But in Evince this is assigned to rotating pages. Given that the latter is a least-used functionality, no only it's a wastage of key binding, but also does it cause confusion for users migrating from common programs like Adobe reader. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 900791] Re: Add printer takes too long (users cancel before completing)
Jeff, we need improvement on the response times of the OpenPrinting web server. They are also rather long for requests via the web query API (query.php, which is used by the printer setup tools for finding drivers to download automatically). [Desktop-packages] [Bug 900791] Re: Add printer takes too long (users cancel before completing)
In which situation does it happen? And with which printer setup tool? With which printer? Note that if you are using Unity, you will get system-config-printer as printer setup tool and if you are using gnome- shell you get the new tool of GNOME 3. system-config-printer is capable of calling Jockey to download drivers for locally unsupported printers from OpenPrinting. The mentioned delay and the bouncing/progress bar window can be from Jockey polling OpenPrinting to find a driver. If you choose a detected printer in the first step of the wizard and click Forward a driver will be searched for, first locally and in case of failure from OpenPrinting through Jockey. This takes some time until you get presented with the confirmation window from Jockey (if driver got found) or with the manual make/model selection (if no driver got found). So the problem can also be in Jockey needing improvement on the wait dialogs and in the OpenPrinting web server needing to be faster to answer requests. ** Also affects: jockey (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to jockey in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/900791 Title: Add printer takes too long (users cancel before completing) Status in Ayatana Design: New Status in “jockey” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Status in “system-config-printer” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: Watching a new user install a Network printer takes too long. If yes, what can I do? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to libreoffice in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/873702 Title: some function names in Calc appear in english others in local language (mixed up) Status in “libreoffice” package in Ubuntu: Fix Committed Status in “libreoffice” source package in Oneiric: Triaged Bug description: Ubuntu 11.10 LibreOffice 3.4.3 OOO340m1 (Build:302) (Ubuntu-build) UI is set to German Function Wizard shows some function names in english others in german demonstrated this bug to Björn Michaelsen at LibreOffice-Conference in Paris today. This is severe, because in order to use the functions one must use english function names for some functions and german function names for other functions, but you don´t know for which function exactly which language is to be used. ** No longer affects: linuxmint ** Also affects: openoffice Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to libreoffice in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/903608 Title: LibreOffice text remains superscript if typed right after footnote Status in LibreOffice Productivity Suite: Unknown Status in The OpenOffice.org Suite: New Status in “libreoffice” package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: If you are editing some files which were created in MS Word(it doesn't matter if you re-save them in .odt or not), which have superscript position in footnote character styles, text remains in superscript if inserted right after footnote characters. Steps to reproduce: 1. Open an attached MS Word file 2. Type text right after footnote, see that the text remains superscript. Current behavior: Text style remains superscript if inserted right after footnote. Expected behavior: Text style must change to default if inserted right after footnote. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 903651] [NEW] When opening files from network share, applications try to cache entire file locally
Public bug reported: Say you have a 80gb tar file. Say this tar file is on a SAMBA share on the network. Trying to open the tar using file-roller is something you will deeply regret. 1) file-roller VERY SLOWLY attempts to cache the entire file locally (I mean it takes it ages) 2) file-roller does not check that the local drive can store the file its copying File-roller has no good reason to copy locally, and the practice is entirely counter productive, and in the case of multi-GB files can lead to a) access to the samba share for other applications (say a media player) being overwhelmed and causing them to error b) makes file-roller appear hung c) leaves massive files in your local cache (~/.cache/.fr-randomcharacters) and no way to clear them except manually d) can cause your machine to run out of diskspace e) is very very slow, copying the file locally, manually is many times faster and doesn't cause other applications to error (see a) f) very bad user experience ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 11.10 Package: file-roller 3.2.1-0ubuntu1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.0.0-13.22-generic 3.0.6 Uname: Linux 3.0.0-13-generic x86_64 NonfreeKernelModules: nvidia ApportVersion: 1.23-0ubuntu4 Architecture: amd64 Date: Tue Dec 13 10:37:10 2011 ExecutablePath: /usr/bin/file-roller InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 11.10 Oneiric Ocelot - Release amd64 (20111012) ProcEnviron: LANGUAGE=en_GB:en PATH=(custom, no user) LANG=en_GB.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash SourcePackage: file-roller UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) ** Affects: file-roller (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug oneiric -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to file-roller in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/903651 Title: When opening files from network share, applications try to cache entire file locally Status in “file-roller” package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: Say you have a 80gb tar file. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 774312] Re: making link from Nautilus doesn't use the correct working directory
The bug is still there when you use LibreOffice Writer and tested with the live cd. 1) Create a Writer document. Write test into it and save it into Documents 2) Quit Writer. 3) Make a link to your document. 4) Writer accepts to open both the original file and the link-file and start to edit them both. I'm not able to use any software to check the original reported error with the live cd. ** Changed in: nautilus (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete = New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to nautilus in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/774312 Title: making link from Nautilus doesn't use the correct working directory Status in “nautilus” package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: Binary package hint: nautilus When making a link from nautilus and using it from another folder doesn't set the correct working folder. Example steps to reproduce: 1) Find a file and make a link to it by right clicking in nautilus. 2) Move the link-file to desktop. 3) Double clicking runs the action, but it is not the correct working folder The working folder should be where the file is, not, as in this example, on desktop. Always reproducible. I use some programs that depend on being started in the folder where data is. This is not a problem if there is only one data file, but it is, when there are several files necessary such as an IDE.
