Title:
  pulseaudio switches microhpones randomly

Status in pulseaudio package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  Problem
  ===

During Skype calls, pulseaudio switches input to front microphone
randomly. I need to manually switch back to rear mic every time that
  happens.

  Expected
  ===

I select the rear microphone as input (pavucontrol) and it stays
  that way.

  Workaround
  ==

I disabled this module in /etc/pulse/default.pa:

  # load-module module-switch-on-port-available

and then restarting pulseaudio obviously solves this.

  Ideal workaround
  ==

Disable port switching for (selected?) input devices in pavucontrol.

Or at least somehow honor my selection, e.g. if the input is marked as
a fallback device, it shouldn't switch.

  Possible cause 1
  =

After pulseaudio startup, pactl shows these lines:

  analog-input-microphone-front: Front Microphone (priority 8500,
available: yes)
analog-input-microphone-rear: Rear Microphone (priority 8200, available:
no)

Note: I don't use the front mic port at all.

  Possible cause 2
  =
My sound card or ports may be creating noise that triggers "jack activation"
events

  Possible cause 3
  =

Bios, hardware related issues trigger jack activation events.

Example of pulseaudio switching mics during Skype call:

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1542846] Re: [HP ProBook 450 G3, Intel Skylake HDMI, Digital Out, HDMI] No sound at all

2016-02-11 Thread Marc Deslauriers
Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but this appears
to be a "regular" (non-security) bug. I have unmarked it as a security
issue since this bug does not show evidence of allowing attackers to
cross privilege boundaries nor directly cause loss of data/privacy.
Please feel free to report any other bugs you may find.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1267742] Re: Screen artifacts appear after restart and cold boot

2016-02-11 Thread Mélodie
PS: I want to check next in Trusty if the newer kernel 3.13.0-77 is less
friendly than the former one, 3.13.0-76 in this situation, with that one
hardware (the town on which I installed yesterday : I'll have it back to
run tests on it). So I'll report the full specs to help debug this
issue.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 797485] Re: Status Bar Covers File Name at Bottom

2016-02-11 Thread Axel Hanusch
In May 2016 the corresponding gnome bug (#651293) will have it's fifth
anniversary and is still status "NEW". I would not expect this to change soon
and waiting for it does not contribute to Ubuntu bug #1 very well. They
probably have other priorities.
When searching on Google for "ubuntu nemo instead of nautilus" I get 13400
results.
Maybe Nautilus' time as default file manager for Ubuntu should be over.

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: nautilus

In Nautilus when you have an even number of files on the bottom row it
becomes difficult to rename the last file as the status bar covers the
  text area.

I realize this is likely a rare occurrence, and can be gotten around
by adjusting the width of the window, but it is a minor bug.

  Possible solutions:

Move status bar to the left side when working with files in that
  corner.

Do not show status bar while renaming.

Best IMHO: Give the file area a bottom margin of the height of the
  status bar.

Ubuntu 11.04, Gnome-Shell (Although it should just be nautilus in general.)

.Xmodmap not automatically loaded on start

Status in xorg package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
I'm using a ~/.Xmodmap file to define two keycode mappings.

13.10 doesn't seem to automatically load this file any more.
13.04 did. (same file, same laptop)

manual execution of "xmodmap ~/.Xmodmap" works on 13.10!
That means I'm e.g. able to use this key in a terminal or in geany.

I discovered, that by switching the keyboard layouts using "gnome-
control-center region layouts" the mappings of the "xmodmap
~/.Xmodmap" will be lost again. Then another manual execution of
"xmodmap ~/.Xmodmap" has to be executed and it works again.

Perhaps the ~/.Xmodmap is loaded and lost by the the gnome-control-
  center () later.

Sorry, I can't figure out which packet this bug has to be asigned to.
By using apport-bug "xorg" was choosen, but it could be "xorg-server"
  or "gnome-control-center", also.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1232873] Re: "could not back up files" dialog never shown; breaks scheduled backups

2016-02-11 Thread palmerito0
Bump. Affects me on Linux Mint 17.3 Rosa.

Title:
"could not back up files" dialog never shown; breaks scheduled backups

Status in Déjà Dup:
  Confirmed
Status in deja-dup package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed
Status in deja-dup package in Arch Linux:
  New

Bug description:
On the conclusion of a backup, if any nonreadable files exist in the
backup source directories, Deja Dup shows a notification at the bottom
of my screen telling me that the backup completed but not all files
were able to be backed up; "see dialog for details". However, this
dialog never appears. As a result, the "deja-dup --backup --auto"
process never terminates, as it's waiting for me to close a dialog
that never appeared in the first place.

This effectively breaks the automatic, "set-and-forget" backup
strategy, as deja-dup-monitor will not launch another scheduled backup
until the deja-dup process exits, which will never happen.

This only happens when deja-dup is launched with "deja-dup --backup
--auto"; launching with "deja-dup --backup" (no auto) does show the
dialog at the end of the process, allowing me to close it and properly
  terminate the backup.

  ~$ lsb_release -d
Description: Ubuntu Saucy Salamander (development branch)

  ~$ dpkg-query -W deja-dup duplicity
  deja-dup 27.3.1-0ubuntu1
  duplicity 0.6.21-0ubuntu4

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1544612] Re: Missing fix for 1299975 claimed to be in pm-utils (1.4.1-13ubuntu0.1)

2016-02-11 Thread Dirk F
NB The mod identified in the line from the automated package report
Package: pm-utils 1.4.1-13ubuntu0.1 [modified:
usr/lib/pm-utils/pm-functions]
arises from my manually applied fix for
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=52572.

It would be good to get that into the repos too.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1243642] Re: .Xmodmap not automatically loaded on start

2016-02-11 Thread Lalo Martins
One thing to add (I'm shocked nobody mentioned yet): edits in anything
in /usr/... will be lost next time the respective package is updated.
So, even on single-user machines, a per-user (or at least /etc) option
is *needed*.

Title:
.Xmodmap not automatically loaded on start

Title:
  sftp does not set timestamps

Status in gvfs:
  Confirmed
Status in gvfs package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: gvfs

when copying or moving files to a directory mounted over sftp, the
  time stamps are not preserved.

this affects both hardy and intrepid (in hardy, it was tested with a
patched version of nautilus hence that version used to forget
timestamps on copy anyway). in both cases, i tested it locally and
everything was preserved as it should be.

moreover, when moving, nautilus first displays the correct time stamp
and only on refreshing shows the wrong updated one.

as timestamps can be considered considered important information, i
suggest this bug be treated as "losing data without notice".

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 968759] Re: adobe-flashplugin 11.2.202.228-0lucid1freezes firefox display - crashes some webkit programs (depends on cpu)

2016-02-11 Thread A. Eibach
Hopefully, Marius.
This despotic attitude of Adobe people is simply disgusting, as it's showing
here.

BTW, why "Fix Released" in Debian? Trying to crack a good joke??

NO FIX WAS EVER RELEASED. Period. Bart was right that the Debian people
cannot do anything about it, as "upstream ain't giving a damn" as
pointed out so verbosely (and correctly) above by Rafal.

As Flash is closed source, it would have to be done by Adobe
themselves...OR...by some genius who knows about reverse engineering
(disassemble everything and kickout all SSE2 shit). But knowing how big
these files are, this may become a 1-year job...

*** WARNING *** UNOFFICIAL ***

Back in 2012, I decided to put up a Debian package back in 2013, and I
stll get an insanely lot of download requests each week for it (even
though I have never pestered any distro teams directly that they should
include it)

http://www65.zippyshare.com/v/78802631/file.html

Install it, and it will work OOTB on any non-SSE2 machine. Created from
an older maverick package, I simply replaced the Flash bloatware by yet
another Chrome build (11.2.202.236) and fired this up to ZippyShare.

This is apparently caused by the use of SSE2 instructions in new versions of
adobe flash binaries, but only on older CPU's not implementing SSE2. There is
an upstream bug reported for this:

Note that this code is binary only outside of Adobe.

Where lernid, and apparently epiphany-browser use webkit they don't

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1539597] Re: nvidia-304 fails to install properly causing unity-control-center to crash

2016-02-11 Thread Erick Brunzell
I changed the title to more properly represent the underlying problem.
As mentioned above I suspect this is a duplicate of (or related to)
either bug 1477593 or bug 1498146. In fact one or the other of those
might be a duplicate of the other. Currently the Wily HWE stack seems to
be working OK in 14.04.4 but I'll have to verify that after trusty-
proposed is switched off and the 14.04.4 release candidates build. I'll
then follow up testing the current state of Xenial and Wily ASAP.

** Summary changed:

- unity-control-center crashed with SIGSEGV in
_cogl_renderer_handle_native_event()
+ nvidia-304 fails to install properly causing unity-control-center to crash

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1284308] Re: Can't copy files from a bluetooth device: Another operation in progress

2016-02-11 Thread johannes
Confirmed on Linux Mint Debian with gvfs 1.22.2. Also, browsing with Thunar is
quite sluggish.

Workaround for some Nokia (Symbian) phones:

obexfs -b

where is the Bluetooth address of the device and is the
directory where you want to mount the device.

No root privileges required. Make sure you own the path, otherwise you
can only access it as root.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1421923] Re: No notifications for new mails

2016-02-11 Thread Michael Mess
With version 0.6.11 (Download: see bug 1501912 ), dekko sometimes seems
to receive an incoming email automatically, sometimes it needs manual
refresh.

But I would expect that dekko could play a sound and/or display a
notification message in the Notifications slider of Ubuntu Phone when a
new message gets available.

That should be configurable.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1537824] Re: firefox opens two windows on every second start with error on console: "Error loadCiphersTab rows is null"

2016-02-11 Thread Michael Mess
Thank you for the update. Good to know that this bug cannot be
exploited.

Now with firefox 44, the bug behaviour has worsened, now firefox opens
two windows or tabs, closes them and then opens a new window with an
empty tab.

When firefox is started with a link, the link may be opened the first time,
then closed as above and a new empty window is opened, thus as a result the
link is not shown.
When starting firefox with a link while it is running, the link is opened as
expected.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1506358] Re: libmirclient gives up and terminates prematurely with "std::exception::what: disconnected: no new buffers" via ExchangeSemantics::submit()

2016-02-11 Thread Daniel van Vugt
In the description I mentioned the server does not die at all. Only the
client dies and the server keeps working (can reconnect to it).

The strange thing is it's only the client that died. The server

Duplicate bug reports now show Unity8 is another such client suffering
from this crash. It's occurring on phones in the wild.

Using Xmir, app menus don't always close when you click outside of
  them.

They only close (in some cases) if you click on the app itself or are
forced to select a menu item.

This is an expected problem, as Mir does not yet implement pointer
grabs, which is what toolkits use to auto-close menus when you click
  outside them.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1168146] Re: Null account (twitter) cannot be deleted

2016-02-11 Thread BlackDalek
My twitter account turned to null after I upgraded from 15.04 to 15.10.
Installing account-plugin-twitter fixed that, but I still have another
account listed as (null) which won't go away. I have no idea what type
of account is was supposed to be though. Only clue it gives is an email
address (hotmail). So could be anything really.

[2545A25, Conexant CX20582 (Pebble), Speaker, Internal] No sound at

Bug description:
Sound through speakers of my Lenovo Edge 11 laptop doesn't work in
Ubuntu 14.04 nor 12.04 nor 15.10 (LiveCD); I think it last worked in
10.04 or maybe even only in 8.04.

This was tested on a clean installation of 14.04 (64bit) onto a USB
stick, with all upgrades; but it neither works in my normal
installation (14.04 32bit) which was upgraded over the years. I also
tried it on a LiveCD boot of 15.10 (64bit), and speakers don't work
  there either.

The hardware appears to be fine though, because after booting, I
sometimes hear the short "drum roll" when the login screen comes up,
  but no sound afterwards.

Headphones work fine; microphone appears to work fine as well (at
least the input level in Gnome mixer shows that it gets input).

I had already started to debug the speaker problem some months ago and
it looked like a problem with power saving mode for the sound chip. If
you have any hints how to debug this for real, I'm open for
suggestions. Also, is there any more info I can provide?

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1544576] Re: New upstream microreleases 9.1.20, 9.3.11, 9.4.6

2016-02-11 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
This bug was fixed in the package postgresql-9.4 - 9.4.6-0ubuntu0.15.10

---
postgresql-9.4 (9.4.6-0ubuntu0.15.10) wily-security; urgency=medium

  * New upstream security/bug fix release: (LP: #1544576)
- Fix infinite loops and buffer-overrun problems in regular expressions.
Very large character ranges in bracket expressions could cause infinite
loops in some cases, and memory overwrites in other cases.
  (CVE-2016-0773)
- Prevent certain PL/Java parameters from being set by non-superusers.
This change mitigates a PL/Java security bug (CVE-2016-0766), which was
fixed in PL/Java by marking these parameters as superuser-only. To fix
the security hazard for sites that update PostgreSQL more frequently
than PL/Java, make the core code aware of them also.
- See release notes for details about other fixes.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1544480] [NEW] after upgrading to 16.04 (xubuntu) network drive not mounted

2016-02-11 Thread Willem Hobers
Public bug reported:

after upgrading to 16.04 (xubuntu) network drive not mounted
Asked by Willem Hobers on 2016-02-06

I upgraded from Xubuntu 14.04 to 16.04, because I would like to
attribute to the testing.

After the upgrade my network drive does not mount.

fstab
//192.168.178.73/Thuis /media/Thuis cifs
noserverino,guest,user=,nounix,_netdev,dir_mode=0777,file_mode=0777 0 0

This worked until the upgrade.

When trying to mount I get:

mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on //192.168.178.73/Thuis,
missing codepage or helper program, or other error
(for several filesystems (e.g. nfs, cifs) you might
   need a /sbin/mount. helper program)

In some cases useful info is found in syslog - try
   dmesg | tail or so.

And if I do dmesg | tail, it gives:

[ 21.141585] cgroup: new mount options do not match the existing superblock,
will be ignored

Title:
Merge libvoikko 4.0.1-2 (main) from Debian unstable (main)

Status in libvoikko package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
Please merge libvoikko 4.0.1-2 (main) from Debian unstable (main).

A pre-requirement is MIRing of foma (bug #1544453) at which point
malaga can be demoted to universe.

  Explanation of the Ubuntu delta:

The only change is the Conflicts/Replaces/Provides of libvoikko1v5. Ubuntu
went ahead and did a g++5 transition before Debian noticed it's not needed.

The Ubuntu specific change can be dropped after 16.04 LTS.

Changelog entries since current xenial version 3.8-1ubuntu2:

  libvoikko (4.0.1-2) unstable; urgency=medium

    * Fix python install location.

   -- Timo Jyrinki Wed, 10 Feb 2016 17:39:20 +0200

  libvoikko (4.0.1-1) unstable; urgency=medium

    * New upstream release.
    * Now requires Python 3.
    * Use VFST backend only, HFST currently not in Debian.
    * Disable tests because it'd mean circular dependency regarding voikko-fi.
    * Breaks voikko-fi <= 2.0

2016-02-11 Thread nour
Hi,

I read an article stating that this board needs patching so that audio
functions:

http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/index.php/HCL_10.5.0#Intel_2

DP35DP  Intel P35 Chipset   All working except for audio and LAN ;
Time Machine not working Audio and LAN don't workUnknown

what they mean by patching?
anything to be done regarding this.

Thanks
