I had a look at what is required for libunity-webapps and it just
appears to be using geoclue to work out what country you are in to show
the appropriate Amazon store. Since Geoclue 2.0 doesn't provide this (it
just gives a co-ordinate) the easiest solution is to make libunity-
webapps contact http://geoip.ubuntu.com/lookup directly to get the
country.

Bug description:
  Geoclue2 (source package geoclue-2.0) is a separate, parallel-
  installable version of geoclue1 (source package geoclue).  We will
  likely shortly have both in main (see MIR bug 1388294) and it would be
  great to be able to demote geoclue1 to universe and only support one
  version of the service.

  The packages associated with this bug all have a reverse depends on
  geoclue1 in some form or patches to remove support for geoclue-2.0
  because it wasn't in main yet (e.g. gnome-settings-daemon).

  Porting from geoclue-1.0 to 2.0 apparently isn't terribly trivial.
  But we have at least six months to do it.

I spoke with Michael, and we are going to reject the patch for the
nvidia packages in xenial-proposed (already reverted in Yakkety), as he
has a better plan now (so that we don't run into LP: #1589006).

For this reason I am closing the tasks for the nvidia drivers for now.

  When starting /etc/init.d/lightdm (either directly from root console
  or through SysV init), it will get stuck because lightdm doesn't fork
  into background when starting.

  Please could you add --background option to start-stop-daemon to fix
  this? (note: the debian lightdm package already does this)

  This change is needed for ubuntuBSD (which uses SysV init to manage
  system daemons).

Running steam now on Kubuntu 15.10 I still get the lines:

  language-selector-gnome includes a GUI to configure the input method
  via im-config. Besides the installed IM frameworks (IBus, Fcitx, etc.)
  the IM selector shows a "none" option, which actually represents the
  value "xim". This was an intentional simplification, made under the
  assumption that "none" and "xim" are approximately the same. However,
  it has proven to be an oversimplification. For example there is a need
  sometimes to control whether the X11 compose keys should be active or
  not.

  This SRU adds an explicit "XIM" option, and converts the "none" option
  to actually set "none".

  A recent reason why an explicit "none" option is needed is Ubuntu
  MATE, which does not install any IM framework by default for non-CJKV
  users. Currently, when such a user opens Language Support for the
  first time, the input method selector shows a blank value. With this
  SRU it will correctly show "none".

  [Test Case]

  An example test case would be:

  * Make a fresh install of Ubuntu MATE 16.04.
  * Open Language Support and find that the input method value is blank.

  [Regression Potential]

  Low. This won't *change* the input method setting, but the currently
  set value will be showed more correctly in some cases.

  regression or not with Bluez5.  I'm guessing it is though.

  work for me.  I expected to be prompted to enter a random PIN code

  [Impact]

  language-selector-gnome includes a GUI to configure the input method
  via im-config. Besides the installed IM frameworks (IBus, Fcitx, etc.)
  the IM selector shows a "none" option, which actually represents the
  value "xim". This was an intentional simplification, made under the
  assumption that "none" and "xim" are approximately the same. However,
  it has proven to be an oversimplification. For example there is a need
  sometimes to control whether the X11 compose keys should be active or
  not.

  This SRU adds an explicit "XIM" option, and converts the "none" option
  to actually set "none".

  A recent reason why an explicit "none" option is needed is Ubuntu
  MATE, which does not install any IM framework by default for non-CJKV
  users. Currently, when such a user opens Language Support for the
  first time, the input method selector shows a blank value. With this
  SRU it will correctly show "none".

  [Test Case]

  An example test case would be:

  * Make a fresh install of Ubuntu MATE 16.04.
  * Open Language Support and find that the input method value is blank.

  [Regression Potential]

  Low. This won't *change* the input method setting, but the currently
  set value will be showed more correctly in some cases.

  /usr/lib/x86_64-linux, 2.1.0 in /usr/lib * mv'ed the.2.1.0 to
  x86_64-linux * rm'ed the sym links to 2.2.0 * new sym link to 2.1.0 *

Bug description:
  Since being standardised XDG_CURRENT_DESKTOP supports specifying
  multiple Desktop Names seperated by a colon, however many of the
  patches in Ubuntu pre-date this change so don't correctly support the
  current format in some cases.

  These days XDG_CURRENT_DESKTOP will look something like
  Unity
  GNOME (gnome-shell)
  GNOME-Classic:GNOME (gnome-shell classic mode)
  GNOME-Flashback:Unity (Flashback sesison, although upstream and debian use 
GNOME-Flashack:GNOME for this)

  Many of the patches only check for == "Unity" or == "GNOME", so
  misbehave for the latter cases in the list above.

  I suspect this will be more widespread than just nautilus, but fixing
  that would be a good start. Since most of this code is still Ubuntu
  specific (upstream mainly use XDG_CURRENT_DESKTOP for onlyShowIn etc),
  probably taking the last value in the string would get the desired
  result of Unity vs GNOME3 behaviour

Installed 16.4. No sound through the speaker jacks or HDMI. Ran trouble
shooter. No luck. Not sure if sound card is being recognized properly:
only options in sound control are for HDMI, Digital output and
Headphones, no option for speakers. Headphones works, don't use digital
output.

Just upgraded to 16.04 from 14.10 and have the same problem - after
suspending and resuming, Ubuntu doesn't reconnect. This regression is
pretty annoying and should be listed in the known issues before
prompting the user to upgrade.

  not work. I can see the SSID in the available networks list. After
  insert the network password I pressed "Connect" but nothing happens.

  Note: I tried 2 other WI-FI networks and there it works. I did not
  change anything on my home WI-FI

to be a "regular" (non-security) bug.  I have unmarked it as a security
issue since this bug does not show evidence of allowing attackers to
cross privilege boundaries nor directly cause loss of data/privacy.

There is no snap package on Krita website they only provide appimages.

Also the current snap for Krita is 3.0-snap12. That's 3rd revision of

This ticket ( https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=70258 )
claims that Steam uses its own fontconfig runtime which is too old which
causes this errors. Also on executing "fc-cache -v | grep -i err"
nothing is shown anymore so could it be that all is fine now with that
configuration file and only Steam does cause its own issue here?

It does look like it might be fwupd spinning on some device or gnome-software 
spinning on fwupd's output.
Can you share the output of the following commands:

# sudo lsusb -vv
# fwupdmgr get-devices

Hopefully that should help in debugging.

  I have fresh installed Ubuntu 16.04 Desktop 32-bit. After each install
  for years one of the first thing I do is uninstall some of the
  applications that I don't need to preserve some downloading/installing
  of applications that I don't need.

  I opened Ubuntu Software, click on Installed tab and now the problem
  appears. Every two seconds whole screen gets to gray and refreshing
  appears which takes 2 seconds. This loops endlessly. It is very
  frustrating, because Ubuntu Software is unusable in my case.

  I have asked the question on forum:
  http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2326701=13498876 and one of
  suggestion was to remove the software and install it back.

  I did:
  sudo apt install gnome-software
  sudo apt purge gnome-software
  sudo apt autoremove
  sudo apt autoclean
  sudo apt install gnome-software

  Started Ubuntu Software and the problem remains the same.

  P.S. New problem appeared now Ubuntu Software icon on Launcher is not
  the same (orange color), but it has changed (white color). But this is
  not huge problem, just annoyance.

  After the upgrade my network drive does not mount.

  This worked until the upgrade.

  When trying to mount I get:

 In some cases useful info is found in syslog - try

icon in the top right panel, the connection should be added to network-manager, 
even if typing the password takes a while.

  If typing the password takes longer than ~25 seconds, upon clicking the 
"Connect" button in the password prompt dialog: nothing happens

  Steps to reproduce:

  - Install Ubuntu MATE 16.04 LTS (possibly other Ubuntu flavours using 
nm-applet too)
  - Run normal post-install full system update and reboot
  - Click the network icon in the top right corner of the default panel layout
  - Select from the Wi-Fi network list a network using WPA/WPA2 Personal
  - Enter the password, wait 30 seconds to click 'connect'

  Note:

  While this issue might seem trivial (using 'System -> Preferences ->
  Internet and Network -> Network Connections' allows one to correctly
  save the password) (and quickly copy/pasting the password from a text
  file works too) it is a serious usability problem for many people in
  France.

  The default home router Wi-Fi setup in France is WPA/WPA2 Personal
  with a random 26-character hexadecimal password. It takes a while to
  type.

  evolution-calendar-factory uses lots of memory

Bug description:
  As filed under bug #1342123 (under Canonical System Image, i.e. for mobile 
installs) by several users, including desktop installs, 
evolution-calendar-factory (previsouly in 14.04) then 
evolution-calendar-factory-subprocess (in 16.04) run using several hundreds of 
megabytes of memory (~ 300 Mio in my case).
  This might have to do with having lots of linked calendars (Google Agenda or 
other). Another user on my system has much fewer Google Agendas than me and her 
memory usage of evolution-calendar-factory-subprocess is less, but still close 
to 100 Mio.
  There have been random crashes of the process, mostly directly upon login, 
always caused by addressing memory out of range.
  There used to be a workaround by invoking the process a second time, which 
caused it to exit more or less gracefully. This is not the case anymore in 
16.04.
  Unfortunately, searching Google leads to the bug #1342123 which concerns 
"Canonical System Image", and several users have replied even though it does 
not only concern mobile installs, which is not immediately self-evident when 
you are not aware what "Canonical System Image" stands for…

  The Network Manager applet shows WiFi is enabled and shows just one or

  available and in use on other computers.

  Disabling and enabling networking does not fix the problem.

  Adding the following does not help:

Bug description:
  I installed Ubuntu with some layout mainly used the other users (standard 
layout). I selected another layout for my own session (Dvorak type layout).
  No issues so far, after logon my Dvorak layout is selected by default on my 
account only.

  Nevertheless, when I am on the logging screen (for logging on, when my 
session is not yet opened), the kb layout applet let's me choose the layout I 
want to use, but whatever the choice, it is the main layout which is chosen.
  In case of screen lock, my Dvorak layout remains active which is correct to 
log back in.

  This was working fine on 14.04. This bug happens with a  fresh install
  of 16.04 .

I can confirm I still see this (or particularly do not see the state
update after resume from sleep) on an Acer C720p in 16.04 as well; I had
previously seen it in 15.10 on this machine but have seen it work on a
modified 14.04 sometime ago.

The upower -d suggestion is not working for me (and running upower
--monitor has no state changes when plugging/unplugging), nor is running
gnome-power-statistics (it eventually fails with the following).

Failure of gnome-power-statistics:
(gnome-power-statistics:17074): libupower-glib-WARNING **: 
up_client_get_devices failed: Timeout was reached

If I run upower -e to enumerate power sources I end up with a
segmentation fault. I'll post the strace output as an attachment.

Also under 16.04 I see the acpi(1) command and /sys paths work to get the 
status fine:

  I had Firefox 46.0.1 installed previously which worked fine and when
  having the Global Dark Theme enabled was, well, dark, as I like it.
  However after upgrading to Firefox 47 I have found that Firefox is all
  completely white, it looks as it would if the Global Dark Theme option
  in the gnome-tweak-tool were disabled, which it is not, and it is the
  only application behaving as such. I am running Ubuntu GNOME 16.04
  with GNOME 3.20. I have attached a screenshot of what it looks like
  (though I have blacked out some private stuff).

I installed Ubuntu with some layout mainly used the other users (standard

  At boot the process is using over 100MB on my mako (build 129)
  I sync'd a fairly large set of calendar events from google previously

  Does this process need to be running all the time?
  Can we streamline it to not read so much of the data set, which it appears to 
be doing?

  With no calendar entries (i.e. removing 
.local/share/evolution/xxx/calendar.ics) the process still uses over 30MB
  (looking at RSS with  ps aux --sort -rss )

And one more thing I forgot to write. Don't know if this is related or
is separate problem. I have also noticed that despite I close down
Ubuntu Software center GUI "gnome-software" process is still occupying
50% of CPU endlessly. In top it gets 50%, then gets lower to 20%, to 0%
and after two three seconds it gets back to 50 sometimes 60%.

This is another pain because on my laptop battery is eaten up.

I have fresh installed Ubuntu 16.04 Desktop 32-bit. After each install
for years one of the first thing I do is uninstall some of the
applications that I don't need to preserve some downloading/installing
of applications that I don't need.

I opened Ubuntu Software, click on Installed tab and now the problem
appears. Every two seconds whole screen gets to gray and refreshing
appears which takes 2 seconds. This loops endlessly. It is very
frustrating, because Ubuntu Software is unusable in my case.

I have asked the question on forum:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2326701=13498876 and one of
suggestion was to remove the software and install it back.

I did:
sudo apt install gnome-software
sudo apt purge gnome-software
sudo apt autoremove
sudo apt autoclean
sudo apt install gnome-software

Started Ubuntu Software and the problem remains the same.

P.S. New problem appeared now Ubuntu Software icon on Launcher is not
the same (orange color), but it has changed (white color). But this is
not huge problem, just annoyance.

hmm, this bug seems ot have been dragged away from the actual topic by
the audience, please note that this bug talks about phone and tablet
installs (as the "Canonical System Image" task implies) where we use a
reduced and slightly different installation compared to desktops (and
definitely no support for things like ~/.config/autostart and such).

Plus, the nice little workaround does not seem to function in 16.04.
Simply re-invoking the process does not lead to it exiting. I've seen it
crash several times in a row with no obvious pattern to it (except it
happens fairly soon after login).

Bug description:
  I have paired my phone with my car as always (connection did work in
  the past). Connection runs as expected and everything like display,
  phone book, ... but this evening I wanted to place a call from my car
  and it did not work. I was then also not able to take a call (I could
  not hear the conterpart and the counterpart could not hear me).

  Since yesterday I am on:

  current build number: 259
  device name: krillin
  channel: ubuntu-touch/rc-proposed/bq-aquaris.en
  last update: 2016-02-16 12:09:18
  version version: 259
  version ubuntu: 20160216
  version device: 20160108-efc96d8
  version custom: 20160111-926-36--vivid

  With OTA9 I did not have the issue. I have attached my logs. I have
  enabled the following bug-settings for bluetooth:

  sudo sed -i 's/exec \/usr\/sbin\/bluetoothd/exec
  \/usr\/sbin\/bluetoothd -d/g' /etc/init/bluetooth.conf

  sudo sed -i 's/--start/--start --log-level=debug/g'
  /usr/share/upstart/sessions/pulseaudio.conf

  I have modified the line in ofono.override to:

  exec ofonod -P -d provision,udev*,dun*,smart*,hfp_bluez5,stktest,sap

  I hope my reporting helps to trace down this issue.
