[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1657092] Re: deja-dup refers to "Files" instead of "Caja"
Yes, it works in Caja. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1659922] Re: Firefox 51.0.1 does not display pages/shows blank pages.
Google translate translates comment 19 to "Thomas Mayer (thomas303), after adding the owner /dev/shm/org.chromium.* rw in the patch and Apparmor profile for Firefox Firefox earned. Thank you. But this is a crutch, an update on the issue as there was no and no. Employees of Canonical - Students who do not test software security." @anikitushkin There's no reason to believe that the package maintainers lowered security by NOT applying necessary changes to the new requirements of FF 49+. It's rather the other way round: Not widening the apparmor profile to the new requirements of FF is pretty conservative in terms of security. It's just that apparmor blocking requirements of FF renders it broken now - be it because of that conservative approach or because of not testing at all. I agree, that should and could have been tested in the first place, namely before releasing new major versions of FF. Of course, the FF package needs to be updated to fix this issue for average users. I'm not the maintainer of the FF package, which basically means that I don't have permission to do that myself. I guess that you can speed up Canonical's integration of the patch into the official package by testing it and reporting back if it works. The reason for that is that package maintainers hopefully become more confident that the patch really fixes exactly this issue as long as multiple users report exactly that, independently of each other. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to firefox in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1659922 Title: Firefox 51.0.1 does not display pages/shows blank pages. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1462515] Re: fglrx ldconfig priority should be above mesa's
Status changed to 'Confirmed' because the bug affects multiple users. ** Changed in: fglrx-installer (Ubuntu) Status: New => Confirmed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to fglrx-installer in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1462515 Title: fglrx ldconfig priority should be above mesa's Status in fglrx-installer package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: I'm using Ubuntu 14.10 on x64 with the latest updates. The Factor language dynamically loads ``libGL.so`` for its graphical environment. On machines with a Radeon card and the ``fglrx-updates`` package, the preferred ``libGL.so`` path is ``/usr/lib/fglrx/libGL.so``. However, if ``libgl1-mesa-dev`` is installed, there's another ``libGL.so`` in ``/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libGL.so``. Now, I would like to remove `libgl1-mesa-dev`, except that it is required for `libgtkglext1-dev` which contains the function `gtk_gl_init()`, which is required for the graphical environment for Factor. The crux of the issue is that ``/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu`` has higher priority than ``/usr/lib/fglrx``, so programs that load ``libGL.so`` find the mesa version first: ``` erg@erglinux:~$ ldconfig -v | grep "^/" /sbin/ldconfig.real: Path `/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu' given more than once /sbin/ldconfig.real: Path `/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu' given more than once /sbin/ldconfig.real: /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/ld-2.19.so is the dynamic linker, ignoring /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libfakeroot: /usr/local/lib: /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu: /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu: /sbin/ldconfig.real: /lib32/ld-2.19.so is the dynamic linker, ignoring /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/mesa-egl: /usr/lib/fglrx: /usr/lib32/fglrx: /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/mir/client8driver/mesa: /lib32: /usr/lib32: /lib: /usr/lib: ``` Would there be anything wrong with moving the ``/usr/lib/fglrx`` entries above ``/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu:``? This appears to be an issue with nvidia's binary drivers as well, since ``/usr/lib/nvidia`` gets searched after ``/usr/x86_64-linux- gnu``. Finally, if ``libgl1-mesa-dev`` wasn't required for ``libgtkglext1-dev``, that would also solve my problem because I wouldn't have the mesa drivers installed at all. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1458322] Re: NetworkManager doesn't hide virtual interfaces (e.g. Docker, VMWare)
I tried it out on 1.2.2, since that's the version I have to work with. I also had to patch applet-device-ethernet.c , otherwise it still listed the header for each interface. Pushed my version up to https://github.com/ohthehugemanatee/network-manager-applet for convenience. I only applied this hiding behavior to ethernet interfaces, because this ticket is specific to virtual ethernet interfaces from docker, vagrant, etc. I'm sure there are people who would like to hide other unmanaged interfaces, too. TBH I would prefer a flag for "show-unmanaged", but that discussion probably belongs in a separate ticket. Patch attached. Sorry if the format isn't right, this is my first contribution here. ** Patch added: "Hide unmanaged ethernet interfaces" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/network-manager/+bug/1458322/+attachment/4810606/+files/0001-applet-hide-unmanaged-ethernet-interfaces.patch -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to network-manager in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1458322 Title: NetworkManager doesn't hide virtual interfaces (e.g. Docker, VMWare) Status in One Hundred Papercuts: Confirmed Status in network-manager package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: Previously in Ubuntu 14.04 NetworkManager hid the veth interfaces that were created by Docker. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1659922] Re: Firefox 51.0.1 does not display pages/shows blank pages.
I'm seeing this for the first time with my update yesterday, 28 Jan 2017 23:00 PST, pushed out with standard Ubuntu updates for Ubuntu 12.04.5 LTS. I can see the default entrance page, the preferences page, and about:config. But I cannot see any html pages. However, html does appear to render in the frame title bar, and rolling the mouse seems to show urls behind links in the normal way at the lower left corner of the frame. I'm not building firefox from source. Is there a fix in about:config? Otherwise could you push out a fixed build for the dpkg package "firefox" within a few days? I expect to see the WiFi icon anytime while being connected to my WiFi network. Also, I expect to see all the WiFi networks around me (at least one other network with good reception and about 3 with bad reception). 4) What happened instead After waking up the laptop from suspend, there appears the ethernet icon (arrow symbols) instead of the WiFi icon. Also, in this state there are no other WiFi networks visible in the network-manager. However, the laptop is still connected with my WiFi and the connection works as usual. The patch of @Thomas Mayer only applies cleanly to LTS 16.04, while I run 14.04. @Sami Jaktholm: I had to add another line to your proposal in comment #3 in /etc/apparmor.d/local/usr.bin.firefox to get it running: /dev/shm/org.chromium.* rw, /run/shm/org.chromium.* rw, Not only "/dev" but also "/run" seems to be necessary for 14.04. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to firefox in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1627239 Title: Web pages not rendering with e10s enabled and AppArmor profile in enforce mode Status in firefox package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: STR: 0. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1540110] Re: gnome-disk-utility (shown as "Disks") shows SMART option grayed for USB connect disks despite being available.
Maybe it is due to the fact (https://www.smartmontools.org/wiki /Supported_USB-Devices) that USB connected disks usually need a '-d' option to enable S.M.A.R.T. support. In fact, for the same disk, trying first: $ sudo smartctl -d scsi -H -i -A -l error -l selftest '/dev/sdb' gives "SMART support is: Unavailable - device lacks SMART capability.", whereas: $ sudo smartctl -d scsi -d sat -H -i -A -l error -l selftest '/dev/sdb' gives "SMART support is: Available - device has SMART capability.//SMART support is: Enabled", and the full output expected. And also in GSmartControl I have to add the "-d sat" option to Preferences/Drives to enable S.M.A.R.T. support and view attributes. The difficulty to include this in gnome-disk-utility is that each disk needs a different "-d" option... -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to gnome-disk-utility in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1540110 Title: gnome-disk-utility (shown as "Disks") shows SMART option grayed for USB connect disks despite being available. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 875676] Re: Backing up fails with 'IOError CRC check failed'.
I think I've got the same problem. DejaDup with Ubuntu 16.04 prints the same error message and even duplicity can't do anything in the backup folder. ("remove-older-than" fails with "(, IOError('CRC check failed 0xb1276c7b != 0x9b944aa5L',), )".) If I delete or move duplicity-new- signatures.20160922T090645Z.to.20160929T083644Z.sigtar.gz, it might work again. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1627239] Re: Web pages not rendering with e10s enabled and AppArmor profile in enforce mode
I do not think the proposed patch by @Thomas Mayer https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/firefox/+bug/1659988/+attachment/4809979/+files/usr.bin.firefox.patch completely disables apparmor for firefox, but allows access to certain aspects of the system. Those access rights seem to be necessary to run with e10s. The thread author Sami proposed to just add shm/chromium rw in #3 but this workaround does not fix the issue for me. So there have to be other restrictions which prevent firefox e10s from running smoothly. I will try the patch and report back. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1627239] Re: Web pages not rendering with e10s enabled and AppArmor profile in enforce mode
@Thomas Mayer 1659988 proposes to disable appamor for firefox. This works, but is a very poor solution in terms of security. I prefer the solution proposed by Sami Jaktholm (sjakthol) on 2016-09-25 in his 3'rd post.
