  To reproduce:

As a standard non-admin user, download Google Chrome .deb file and open it
with software install.
  Click the Install button

Authenticate prompt for administrator password, and proceeds with
installation on clicking install the first time.

If you want ibus 1.5.11, please upgrade to Ubuntu 16.04 LTS.

ibus 1.5.11 looks to big too big of an upgrade to backport to 14.04 LTS

newest release of Intellj IDEA does shows a warning:
"IBus prior to 1.5.11 may cause input problems."

that's why i request for an update of ibus to that version.

Version 1.5.5 distributed with Trusty is quite old and causes several
problems to the users. Upgrading the package should help. It has some
dependencies, and I'm not sure if they wouldn't need an update, too.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1728467] Re: All files on ntfs partitions are marked executable

2017-12-25 Thread Matt Lu
Thank you very much for your offer, but I have messed up my system
trying to fix that and at this point I don't want to complicate matters
further (17.10 is quite buggy for me).

Would it be possible to submit your patch for official inclusion?

Status in caribou package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
Unable to type capital letters using onscreen keyboard:

  1. Launch a program where you can type text (gedit for example).
  2. Activate on screen keyboard (by touching the screen, foe example).
  3. Notice all the keys on the on screen keyboard display lowercase letters.

  4. Begin typing. Lowercase characters are typed into the text area.

  5. Tap on the Shift (up arrow at left side of on screen keyboard) key of the
on screen keyboard.
  6. Notice all the keys on the on screen keyboard now display capital letters.
  7. Begin typing.
  8. A lowercase character will be typed into the text area.

  This is not expected behavior.
Instead, a capital letter should have been typed.

(All the keys on the on screen keyboard revert to lower case. This is
expected, since the on screen shift key would need to be pressed again
in order to attempt to type another capital character).

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1725863] Re: Logitech G930 drops connection and reconnects in 17.10 (But not in 17.04)

2017-12-25 Thread Luis Alvarado
Hi Daniel, wanted to share my findings for the last weeks. So I tested
16.04,16.10,17.04 and 17.10. The issue is now showing on all versions.
In 17.04 I remember not seeing the issue although I might not have
enough testing as am doing right now. Previously I used it for about 5
to 20 minutes in 17.04 compared to 4 to 6 hours in 17.10 and 16.04 when
I tested. So it's giving the same error on all 4. What do you recommend
I do now to follow up with you. Merry Christmas buddy.

Bug description:
Ubuntu version: 17.10 (most recent updates as of October 3rd)
  vlc version: 2.2.6-6

Whan I expect to happen: When playing a video in vlc and switching to
fullscreen mode everything should work fine. Also when changing to a
different position of a movie in fullscreen I expect the player to
  just switch to that position.

What actually happens: It seems to depend a little on the file type of
the video, mostly I get problems when going to fullscreen mode and
then switching to a different position with the playback position bar.
With some videos it was even enough to just open the fullscreen mode.
The video freezes just displaying a frame while the audio keeps
playing. The computer does not react any more to mouse or keyboard
input, I have to perform a hard reboot.

This problem only appears under the Wayland session, in the Xorg session
everything works fine as expected.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1673677] Re: NBA.com flash movies will not load in Firefox

2017-12-25 Thread madbiologist
Firefox and Chromium and most other web browsers are phasing out support
for Flash. Firefox now requires the user to click to allow flash on
each site that uses it. Flash support will be completely removed from
consumer versions of Firefox in early 2020. See
https://blog.mozilla.org/futurereleases/2017/07/25/firefox-roadmap-
flash-end-life/ and https://developer.mozilla.org/en-
