[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1794033] Re: i965: Failed to submit batchbuffer: Bad address
I'm encountering this about once/day on my Lenovo X1 carbon laptop with kernel 5.3.0-24-generic. I'm a developer, but I don't know much beyond that background about how to fix this. I just know that I'm kind of quickly losing my mind, and that it wasn't happening when I first started using the laptop. Are there any solutions that I can try? I can run commands but if somebody says to install a particular kernel, that's a half-day affair that'll 50/50 fail as I research things. I'm happy to help though if there's any way I can, because I can't live with a laptop that completely crashes every 10 hours or so. The crash occurs when opening the "Load Project" file requester. I have three monitors. The application does not crash if the window is moved to the leftmost or rightmost monitor. It crashes on the center monitor only. This is irrespective of the primary monitor setting, and also of monitor numbering (I changed the physical connections). The resolutions are 1920x1200 (left), 1920x1200 (center), 1920x1080 (right), on an AMD RX 580. Note especially that the find window must be on the other monitor - if it's on the same monitor as geany, gnome-shell doesn't crash. (Note: I originally thought that if I moved the find window to the other window and then searched, gnome-shell crashed, but I think what happens is a) I open the window, b) I move it, search for something, and it works, c) I close it and re-open it - it then opens on the other monitor and searching will crash gnome-shell.) gnome-shell restarts, but the crash causes data loss, as most of the running applications don't reappear when it restarts. Go to https://extensions.gnome.org/extension/1379/mpris-indicator-button/ 2. Click the toggle switch to install it. 3. Use the extension after it is installed. Here's what should happen: 1. I am prompted for confirmation to install the extension. 2. I click Install. 3. The toggle switch goes from Off to On and the extension is added to my top bar. Here's what happens instead: 1. I am prompted for confirmation to install the extension. 2. I click Install. 3. The toggle switch stays in the Off permission, and the extension is not added to my top bar. Here's what I see in journalctl: Nov 06 13:13:24 jik-d42-x1 gnome-software[2200]: State change on user /*/*/shell-extension/mprisindicatorbutton_JasonLG1979.github.io/* from available to installed is not OK I've also tried unzipping by hand into a subdirectory of ~/.local/share/gnome-shell/extensions, restarting gnome-shell, and enabling the extension at extensions.gnome.org/local, but that doesn't work either. The toggle switch goes to On when I toggle it, but the extension isn't actually enabled and when I reload the page the switch is Off again. I've tried with https://extensions.gnome.org/extension/779/clipboard- indicator/ and https://extensions.gnome.org/extension/7/removable- drive-menu/ too. They won't install and activate either. *** I do not have this problem on a second Ubuntu 19.10 computer I use. *** I have no idea what is different between the two computers or how to troubleshoot further. After the initial connection when I disconnect the headphones and reconnect them later on when I view the headphones with the blueman-applet and look at the Audio Profile it shows Off. If I try to play audio I get no sound in the headphones. If I select High Fidelity Playback (A2DP Sink) most of the time audio will play through the headphones. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1845046] Re: Bluetooth headphones/speaker default to low quality headset mode and fails to switch to A2DP when selected
Progress, and some bad news... Testing with Sony WH-1000XM3 I can reproduce the bug easily. But it's not a recent regression if at all. The same bug occurs in an original Ubuntu 18.04 install without any updates. I'm tempted to clarify that Sony WH-1000XM3 is our main test case here. Any future fix might benefit multiple different models, but it seems the WH-1000XM3 is presently very popular and is what the original reporter(s) of three quarters of these bug reports are using. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to gnome-control-center in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1845046 Title: Bluetooth headphones/speaker default to low quality headset mode and fails to switch to A2DP when selected Status in PulseAudio: Unknown Status in bluez package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in gnome-control-center package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in pulseaudio package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: Whenever I turn on my headphones theyll connect to my computer but im able to hear the input audio from my microphone and low quality output audio.
