I've noticed this at least in Firefox and thunar. It also occurs when displaying these applications from a Virtualbox machine or from another server running something other than Ubuntu. The VM was running CentOS 8 and the remote server was running Mageia. Both Firefox and thunar run fine with Mageia's Xorg. It seems like the issue may be with the Xorg server on Ubuntu. I tried setting the GDK_SYNCHRONIZE variable to various settings but was unable to produce further debug output. The only other debug output I was able to gather is when running thunar with the --gtk- debug parameter (attached). That used to be a patch that Canonical contributed to Firefox, which is long since dropped.' Filing this bug as maybe a community member would want to re-introduce this patch. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1921592] [NEW] Software app - snap interfaces management, under hood
Public bug reported: GNOME guys kindly informed me it is Ubuntu Software app team where Software app got snap support, hence my point raised here. Ubuntu 20.04 with all updates installed, Firefox snap of latest stable released version. Gnome makers stress it was Ubuntu where Software app got snap support. GNOME Software app > Firefox snap > Permissions > User your camera > ON at the same time: (I can't get proper text presentation/formatting, sorry) $ snap connections firefox Interface Plug Slot Notes camera firefox:camera :camera manual Let's change this setting as next: GNOME Software app > Firefox snap > Permissions > User your camera > OFF at the same time: $ snap connections firefox Interface Plug Slot Notes camera firefox:camera - Similar behavior for Avahi interface (I guess all remaining too) - slot side gets manipulated. Actually setting in GUI is placed in Firefox snap. It doesn't seem to be reasonable for engine under hood to manipulate interface slot-side. Interface slot-side is under control of other snap or resource controller not the Firefox snap. Reasonable would be rather to modify plug-side on changes of shown app snap setting. ** Affects: gnome-software (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to gnome-software in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1921592 Title: Software app - snap interfaces management, under hood Status in gnome-software package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: GNOME guys kindly informed me it is Ubuntu Software app team where Software app got snap support, hence my point raised here. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1888598] Re: Pulseaudio breaks HDMI audio on sleep/wake
is this a pulseaudio bug ? If so where are reported the bug upstream, someone has a link? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to pulseaudio in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1888598 Title: Pulseaudio breaks HDMI audio on sleep/wake Status in pulseaudio package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: on a fresh Ubuntu 20.04 x64 install, I've noticed some troubling bugs with pulseaudio after putting my system to sleep and then waking it up. these bugs aren't present on a fresh boot, only after resuming from sleep: - it forgets which sound output device it's set to, and always reverse to the motherboard's S/PDIF output. - I have two devices connected to my video card, one is a displayport monitor, and one is a home theater receiver via HDMI. it confuses the two, and randomly switches which device it thinks is capable of surround sound. - it sometimes refuses to switch to the correct audio device, and just resets any choice back to the internal S/PDIF, until the system is rebooted. as you can imagine, this a pretty frustrating state of affairs. Public bug reported: Currently, Firefox doesn't support HUD ( `mate-hud`, I assume Unity's HUD is also affected as per https://ubuntuunity.org/2020/06/05/hud- globalmenu-firefox/ ), as Martin Wimpress said in his Wimpy's World Discord server 27/03/2021 15:12 UTC 'Some apps are removing support for ModelMenu. That used to be a patch that Canonical contributed to Firefox, which is long since dropped.' Filing this bug as maybe a community member would want to re-introduce this patch. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1921587] [NEW] Login screen language is same as last used application
Public bug reported: When the screen locks, the keyboard language will be the same as the last used application. To reproduce: 1. Ensure that at least two keyboard layouts are added. 2. Tick the "allow different sources for each window" option in the input sources selection configuration. 3. Start an application and switch keyboard layout using the chosen hot key combination. 4. Wait until the screen locks. The login screen will now use the keyboard layout of the selected application. Furthermore, the hot-key combination to switch keyboard layout only works partly when the screen is locked. This is annoying since the keys will now be in the wrong place for typing the password, and it is necessary to use the mouse to get the correct layout. To fix this, the login screen should reset the keyboard language to the default one when it locks the screen. Hello, I am using Rhythmbox 3.4.3-2 on debian 10 and this bug is a real problem when it comes to import tracks from a cd where the names of said tracks can not be found one the internet.
