[Expired for gnome-shell (Ubuntu) because there has been no activity for 60 days.] ** Changed in: gnome-shell (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => Expired -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to gnome-shell in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1941140 Title: Gnome Shell freeze Status in gnome-shell package in Ubuntu: Expired Bug description: Given that I am using Google Chrome (updated to 25/08/2021) and I try to take a selected screenshot, using the command Ctrl + Shift + PrintScreen. While the website visited is displaying dropdown options (after clicking an html selector which displays options). Then the mouse can't click on any icon except the current opened windows "minimize" button. So a manual restart had to be done. Using firefox I couldn't do the screenshot because the dropdown dissapears while taking it. But nothing else occurs. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1683383] Re: Keyboard layout change on hotkeys press instead of release and do not work well with shortcuts (reopen)
** Changed in: xorg-server (Ubuntu) Assignee: Alex (alexvaa) => (unassigned) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to xorg-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1683383 Title: Keyboard layout change on hotkeys press instead of release and do not work well with shortcuts (reopen) Status in X.Org X server: Unknown Status in xorg-server package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in xorg package in Debian: New Bug description: From duplicate bug 1720364 report. Steps to reproduce: 1. Install ubuntu-mate-desktop on Ubuntu 16.04 LTS with HWE (Xorg 1.19.5), or 17.10 or 18.04 LTS. 2. Set-up two keyboard layouts - English and Russian 3. Set as keyboard layout switcher in mate-control-center 4. Try to use shortcuts starting from : 4.1. Open Firefox, open new tab, go to some site in it, close tab, try to click to restore closed tab. 4.2. Open mate-terminal, try to open new tab with , or copy (), or paste (). 4.3. Open pluma, write some text, try to navigate in it with . Expected results: switches keyboard layout, shortcuts starting from work normally. Actual results: switches keyboard layout, shortcuts starting from do not work. Notes: 1. Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xorg 1.18.4) with Marco and Compton work normally with keyboard layout switcher. 2. This problem was discovered before on 13.10, 14.04 and other modern versions with GNOME desktop (Metacity and Compiz) - see bug 1245473. --- Original description below: This is a reopen of bug #36812, which has reappeared in Kubuntu 17.04 Zesty Zapus. This is a bug about shortcuts mapped to combinations which include each other. For example, if we have Ctrl+Shift (for keyboard layout) and Ctrl+Shift+N (to open a new terminal), then we are practically unable to use the second shortcut; this is what happens: Ctrl press (nothing happens) Shift press (keyboard layout change) N (a simple N appears, since a shortcut has already fired) The expected behavior is to fire shortcuts on the release (not on press) of the special keys (ctrl, shift, alt, etc) which is also how Windows behave. This is a serious problem for bilingual layouts, typically using Alt+Shift or Ctrl+Shift for keyboard layout change. Apparently, the bug has reappeared after the patch that used to fix the problem (208_switch_on_release.diff) has been removed from X.Org 1.19 packages. There is an updated patch in the upstream ticket https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=865 (link to the attachment: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=129861). *** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1843588 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1843588 ** No longer affects: gnome-shell-extension-desktop-icons (Ubuntu Impish) ** This bug has been marked a duplicate of bug 1843588 Nautilus doesn't copy filenames for paste to other programs anymore -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to gnome-shell-extension-desktop-icons in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1948008 Title: Copying and pasting to/from Nautilus does not work Status in gnome-shell-extension-desktop-icons package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Status in gnome-shell-extension-desktop-icons source package in Hirsute: Won't Fix Bug description: [Impact] * After upstream Nautilus has reverted the following commit [1] related to upstream bug [2] the desktop icons extension lost it's ability to copy to/from nautilus. * This is related to the fact that before there was some metadata passed along in the clipboard along with text data. This was causing issues with compatibility with some applications that were not expecting any metadata (MIME type in this case) was glued to the text clipboard contents. Hence, it was reverted upstream [3]. * Fixing the root cause of this issue required changes to Nautilus [3], gnome-shell [4] and desktop-icons [5] [6]. Nautilus and gnome- shell parts are already implemented and present in Hirsute and Impish. [Test Plan] 1) Make sure desktop-icons extension is enabled. 2) Open nautilus window and copy any file from there by right-clicking and selecting "Copy" from the popup menu. 3) Right-click on desktop and select "Paste" from the context menu. Expected result: selected file is copied to the desktop. Actual result: "Paste" item is disabled in the menu. [Where problems could occur] * Mixing a version of nautilus without commit [3] and fixed version of desktop-icons may still lead to a scenario when copying will not work. * Any extension/application copying to desktop using the smuggled-in- text clipboard behavior should be expected to stop working. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1948599] [NEW] Nautilus icon missing from taskbar (21.10; Xorg)
Public bug reported: Upgraded to 21.10. I am using Ubuntu Tweaks to set a bottom of screen taskbar. Nautilus (Files) was pinned to the taskbar. I discovered that Waland was incompatible with my graphics card, so switched to Xorg. I think at this point the Files icon disappeared (and just possibly some others I have not noticed). I can launch Nautilus from the launcher, but the icon does not appear. Nautilus version 1:40.2-1ubuntu1 Expected behaviour 1: The pinned icon would remain visible on the taskbar. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1946525] Re: Removable media are not mounted automatically
No, the only indication of me inserting a removable storage is in dmesg where the device is acknowledged. I have to either mount the device manually from shell or go through the Gnome Disks utility. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1940417]
I tested 95.0a1 (Nightly), and opening the hamburger menu (using the steps I outlined above) works now. Closing it is still partly broken though, as clicking on the menu button doesn't close the menu; I think that is [bug 1694514](https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1694514). For a workaround, clicking outside the menu (and the menu button) does close the menu. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to firefox in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1940417 Title: On Wayland toolbar menus are sometimes invisible/flickering Status in Mozilla Firefox: Invalid Status in firefox package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Ubuntu; Linux x86_64; rv:91.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/91.0 Steps to reproduce: Open Downloads panel, Library or Application menu form the Toolbar by clicking on the corresponding icons. Steps to reproduce: 1. Install ubuntu-mate-desktop on Ubuntu 16.04 LTS with HWE (Xorg 1.19.5), or 17.10 or 18.04 LTS. 2. Set-up two keyboard layouts - English and Russian 3. It turns out that several keyboard shortcuts are allowed while Ubuntu Mate is locked (arctica-greeter): - Mod4 + S (mate-search-tool) - Mod4 + E (Open Caja / File Explorer) - CTRL + Shift + Esc (mate-system-monitor) - PRNT (Screenshot) All of the mentioned shortcuts could be used to spawn a file explorer (Caja) or various other binaries as user "lightdm", who owns the logon screen. Although an interactive terminal like mate-terminal, xterm, lxterm etc. could not be opened directly, there are various options to run commands as the lightdm user, for example by creating a shell script using "caja", and execute it directly using the GUI. I've attached Proof-of-Concept GIFs for all shortcuts mentioned above. There might be additional shortcuts that could be used to achieve the same, however I'm not aware about every shortcut that is configured, but I suppose that the root cause is located somewhere in arctica- greeter, rather than within every single binary launched by shortcuts. The bug was reproduced on a fresh installation of Ubuntu Mate 21.10. I haven't tested other versions of Ubuntu Mate yet.
