[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1978853] [NEW] Volume keys on USB keyboard do not work
Public bug reported: I use a USB keyboard plugged into a laptop running Ubuntu. The USB keyboard has volume adjustment integrated into the function row: mute is Fn + F1, decrease volume is Fn + F2, and increase volume is Fn + F3. On Ubuntu 20.04.4, I could use these keys to do volume adjustment. But, when I upgraded to Ubuntu 22.04, these keys no longer work. Hi, I tried to validate the patch, the issue still persists if I try to right click any app on the dock while an application is full window mode, attached the video, let me know if I am missing something. In the video you can see my chrome window is in full screen mode and I open the dock by hovering the mouse pointer to the bottom of the screen as my dock is set to auto hide, when I make a right click on any of the items in the dock, the dock immediately hides making it impossible to select any item in the right click menu. ** Attachment added: "Bug still exists in when app is in full screen mode" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell-extension-ubuntu-dock/+bug/1967121/+attachment/5597483/+files/Screencast%20from%2006-15-2022%2012%3A26%3A10%20PM.webm -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to gnome-shell-extension-ubuntu-dock in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1967121 Title: Dock auto-hides when a right click context menu is opened while a window is under the dock Status in Dash to dock: Fix Released Status in ubuntu-dock: Unknown Status in gnome-shell-extension-ubuntu-dock package in Ubuntu: Fix Committed Status in gnome-shell-extension-ubuntu-dock source package in Jammy: Triaged Bug description: [Impact] If the dock is set to auto-hide and a window is under the dock, then the dock hides prematurely when a menu is opened from one of its icons. Please guide me in a more simple way if you please. Where can I find this ascii filename? The only thing I could say (if it is not irrelevant to your1 comment) is that the issue doesn't include any file or it's encoding. It is about the nautilus search box. After waiting about 1min (!) doing nothing, the search results appear. After this happy long time, if I try other searches without closing the window, they work as expected. I would have posted this a week earlier, but then the strange result first came out. So I thought that I could figure it out, but I couldn't. The network status will still be seen as online in gnome since ipv4 is still active. The user then have to manually remove the dhcpv6 lease files and restart ipv6 connection/restart network manager to regain IPv6 connectivity. * This is a cherry-pick from Network manager 1.10.8 (Ubuntu's version is based on 1.10.6): https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/NetworkManager/NetworkManager/-/commit/7fbbe7ebee99785e38d39c37e515a64a28edef0f * Upstream bug: https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=783391 [Test Plan] * The exact conditions for reproducing this bug on mixed IPv4/IPv6 networks are not known but includes using both IPv4 and IPv6, both using dhcp. [Where problems could occur] * The change is in the dchp lease expiration handling so verify that there is no regression in dhcp renewals on different type of configuration include IPv6 [Other Info] * We have tested this patch on a couple of clients where we have seen this this problem. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1970994] Re: /usr/libexec/gnome-remote-desktop-daemon:11:setChannelError:rdpgfx_server_thread_func:thread_launcher:start_thread:clone3
This needed rebasing onto to the security update 2.6.1+dfsg1-3ubuntu2.1. To save time I've done that and sponsored a re-upload for you, using the version string 2.6.1+dfsg1-3ubuntu2.2. I trust that's OK. This upload contains a significant rewrite of thread handling code. Normally that would be unsuitable for an SRU on the basis of a microrelease update. It's not something I'd expect to see in an upstream "stable" branch, and I think casts doubt on whether this is an appropriate upstream project to take "stable" microrelease updates from in general without a change-by-change analysis an individual justifications each time. So, thank you for submitting this change on an individual basis. I think the error counts for this particular issue do justify the SRU in this case. However, I do think there is considerable regression risk. Because of the nature of the change being introduced, the scope of a regression appears to be wide. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1713226] Re: systemd-networkd messes up networking
Netplan generates configuration snippets to make sure an interface is only handled by the backend renderer (networking-daemon: sd-networkd or NetworkManager) that is instructed to control that interface nowadays. This logic has been improved recently: https://github.com/canonical/netplan/pull/276 Please re-open if this is still an issue. ** Changed in: nplan (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => Won't Fix -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to network-manager in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1713226 Title: systemd-networkd messes up networking Status in ifupdown package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in network-manager package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in nplan package in Ubuntu: Won't Fix Status in systemd package in Ubuntu: Won't Fix Bug description: Since systemd-234-2ubuntu8 systemd-networkd is enabled by default. This causes problems existing configurations ex1: if the network has ipv6 enables (the host recieves a router advertisement), networkmanager does not configure the network anymore so you get only ipv6 and no ipv4 connections (since systemd-networkd seems to bring only the link up) ex2: if you use systemd-nspawn and configured static ip addresses in /etc/network/interfaces, systemd-networkd adds a dhcp obtained address on the host0 adapter and a 169.254 address For the average user both is not expected, so my solution was systemctl disable systemd-networkd, but since you seem to insist having this enabled, it must be made sure systemd-networkd does not touch existing configurations. My suggestion is: 1) if /etc/network/interfaces contains anything other than lo -> do not enable systemd-networkd 2) if network-manager is enabled, systemd-networkd must be disabled and vice versa To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ifupdown/+bug/1713226/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages Post to : desktop-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1976567] Re: Desktop resolution was set incorrectly (1024x768) until I booted up the PC AFTER turning on the monitor
I just encountered the bug again. When I turned on the monitor the login screen is at 1024x768 and the system log shows it is using Wayland: Jun 15 14:03:49 nine gnome-shell[1225]: Running GNOME Shell (using mutter 42.1) as a Wayland display server Although the monitor was plugged in when the system booted, the kernel failed to get a working connection: Jun 15 14:03:50 nine kernel: i915 :00:02.0: [drm] *ERROR* Link Training Unsuccessful That's _after_ the login screen had started. So the bug is occurring when the kernel can detect a monitor (hence bug 1919400 doesn't happen) but can't establish a reliable display signal. For me, the fix was just to log in as usual. Then the correct screen resolution is detected and used. If the problem persists for you after logging in then it's a sign you probably need to replug or replace the monitor data cable. I don't see any real bug here unless it's the kernel failing to train when it shouldn't fail. ** Package changed: xorg-server (Ubuntu) => linux (Ubuntu) ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => Opinion ** No longer affects: mutter (Ubuntu) ** Summary changed: - Desktop resolution was set incorrectly (1024x768) until I booted up the PC AFTER turning on the monitor + [i915] Desktop resolution was set incorrectly (1024x768) until I booted up the PC AFTER turning on the monitor -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to xorg-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1976567 Title: [i915] Desktop resolution was set incorrectly (1024x768) until I booted up the PC AFTER turning on the monitor Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Opinion Bug description: Whenever I boot up my PC, I turn on the monitor as well. I have checked if there is an error in the Wifi module by running the same, within Windows 11 updates, which worked normally as expected. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1976204] Re: Screen freeze
Thanks for creating bug 1978764. The freeze does not appear to be one that is visible in stack traces so my next theory is a KMS/DRM screen update failure. To investigate that please try these separately: * Disable atomic KMS in /etc/environment: MUTTER_DEBUG_ENABLE_ATOMIC_KMS=0 and reboot. * Follow the instructions in comment #19 so we can see all the interaction with the kernel DRM functions at the time of the freeze. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to gnome-shell in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1976204 Title: Screen freeze Status in OEM Priority Project: Confirmed Status in gnome-shell package in Ubuntu: New Status in gnome-shell-extension-desktop-icons-ng package in Ubuntu: New Status in mutter package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: [Summary] The system will run into freeze if I connect the external monitor through DP/HDMI with dongle DA310 or Docking WD19TB [Steps to reproduce] 1.
