Bug description:
  Pop_OS 22.04 LTS (Upgraded from Pop_OS 20.04 LTS)

  LibreOffice 7.3.2.2

  Everything worked under Pop_OS 20.04

  Current System:
   lsb_release -rd
  Description: Pop!_OS 22.04 LTS
  Release: 22.04

  Version: 7.3.2.2 / LibreOffice Community
  Build ID: 30(Build:2)
CPU threads: 8; OS: Linux 5.16; UI render: default; VCL: gtk3
  Locale: en-US (en_US.UTF-8); UI: en-US
  Ubuntu package version: 1:7.3.2-0ubuntu2

Bug description:
  [Impact]

If the dock is set to auto-hide and a window is under the dock, then
the dock hides prematurely when a menu is opened from one of its
icons. This only seems to happen with GNOME 42.

  [Test Plan]

  1. Set the dock to auto hide.
  2. Move a window under the dock's position so that it wants to auto-hide.
  3. Open the dock and right click on one of the icons to open a menu.

Expected: Dock stays open while the menu is open.
Observed: Dock closes while the menu is open.

  [Where problems could occur]

This fix may affect any scenarios relating to the dock auto-hiding.

Status in mutter package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
External screen flickers on and off (image is present and then signal is
lost, flickering is random, but very often, ~3 times in 10 seconds) on a fresh
installation.
  Details:
  - I'm using a laptop (ASUS GL552VW) with external monitor connected via HDMI.
The HDMI port is connected to my iGPU, Intel HD 530 (there is no way to make
that HDMI work with NVIDIA GTX 960M in my laptop).
  - Nothing was installed after installing the OS - i connected to the Internet
while installing the system and marked the option to download the updates.
  - I had that issue on Windows 10 - I fixed it by installing a latest Intel
GPU driver from laptop manufacturer's (ASUS) site, uninstalling drivers
installed by Windows - they were the latest Intel drivers.
  - Internal screen works fine.
  - If I mirror external and internal monitor, external isn't flickering, but
internal monitor's resolution is lower that external's one.

Hello,

Do you think to make gstreamer1.0-pipewire not register device provider
by not set HAS_GSTREAMER_DEVICE_PROVIDER can be a temporary fix to
maximize the compatibility?

Thanks,

Bug description:
  * Impact
wpa built with in openssl3 fails to connect to TLS 1.1 or lower server

  * Test case
try to connect to a TLS <= 1.1 access point

  * Regression potential
the patch lowers the security level in some situation for compatibility, it
shouldn't prevent connecting to newer hardware, still try to connect to
different type of wifi with different security levels

  ---

those uses MD5-SHA1 as digest in its signature algorithm which no
longer meets OpenSSL default level of security of 80 bits

  http://lists.infradead.org/pipermail/hostap/2022-May/040563.html

Workaround are described in #22 and #36 by basically using
  CipherString = DEFAULT@SECLEVEL=0

  which lowers the security level

  ---

With the current jammy version of wpasupplicant (2:2.10-1), I cannot
connect to the WPA Enterprise network eduroam, which is used by
Universities worldwide. I get a "Connection failed" message or a
  request to re-enter the password.

  - I've re-tried the credentials: no fix ;-)

  - Tried a 21.10 live session on the same machine: works fine!

  - Manually downgraded wpasupplicant to the impish version
  (2:2.9.0-21build1): connected normally.

  - Upgraded wpasupplicant to the latest version: fails to connect

Bug description:
  [ Description ]

We should keep up with GStreamer's bugfix releases in the 1.16 series
  that 20.04 shipped with.

  [ QA and testing ]

Play a range of videos in Totem. Play a range of audio tracks in
Rhythmbox. Try to stream audio and/or video. Try to install a missing
  codec.

In all cases, make sure that everything which worked before still
  works.

  [ Regression potential ]

If one of the fixes is bad then it might break video or audio
playback, or could crash any application that tries to use gstreamer.

  ---

On ubuntu-20.04 "apt-get" default installs gstreamer version 1.16.2,
though gstreamer has subsequent minor version gst-1.16.3 with fixes
  incorporated.

Hence, Ideally default gstreamer-1.16 minor version support with
ubuntu-20.04 should be upgraded to use gstreamer version 1.16.3

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1978853] [NEW] Volume keys on USB keyboard do not work

2022-06-15 Thread Derrick Dominic
Public bug reported:

I use a USB keyboard plugged into a laptop running Ubuntu. The USB
keyboard has volume adjustment integrated into the function row: mute is
Fn + F1, decrease volume is Fn + F2, and increase volume is Fn + F3. On
Ubuntu 20.04.4, I could use these keys to do volume adjustment. But,
when I upgraded to Ubuntu 22.04, these keys no longer work.

I also have volume keys on my laptop integrated into the function row,
but the Fn key does not need to be held: mute is just the "F1" key,
decrease volume is just the "F2" key, and increase volume is just the
"F3" key. These keys adjust volume as expected.

I tried plugging in my USB keyboard into a Macbook Pro, and I can use
the keyboard to do volume adjustment as expected.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1967121] Re: Dock auto-hides when a right click context menu is opened while a window is under the dock

2022-06-15 Thread Aravind Datla
Hi, I tried to validate the patch, the issue still persists if I try to
right click any app on the dock while an application is full window
mode, attached the video, let me know if I am missing something.

In the video you can see my chrome window is in full screen mode and I
open the dock by hovering the mouse pointer to the bottom of the screen
as my dock is set to auto hide, when I make a right click on any of the
items in the dock, the dock immediately hides making it impossible to
select any item in the right click menu.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1978547] Re: nautilus crash on search

2022-06-15 Thread Fusion
In var/crash, there is no nautilus crash. There are 3 files. One named:
_usr_bin_gnome-shell.1000.crash, another: _usr_bin_gnome-
shell.1000.upload and another: _usr_bin_gnome-shell.1000.uploaded.

On the step two, I manage to find these links which are nautilus crashes

https://errors.ubuntu.com/oops/098c138c-d2a5-11ec-a51f-fa163ef35206

I don't understand your second comment. Please guide me in a more simple way if
you please. Where can I find this ascii filename? The only thing I could say
(if it is not irrelevant to your1 comment) is that the issue doesn't include
any file or it's encoding. It is about the nautilus search box. When I try to
write to any folder eg. 123 or test.. on "tes" nautilus is already stop
responding.

  nautilus crash on search

Status in nautilus package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
Ubuntu 22.04 LTS (updated from 21.10)
  nautilus 1.42.1.1-0ubuntu
  15.15.0-37-generic
  flatpak installed
  Type=x11

  Expected to happen:
  1. open nautilus
  2. type anything in search box in any folder (remote or not, empty or not)
  3. nautilus do the search.

  What happens:
  1. open nautilus
  2. type anything in search box in any folder (remote or not, empty or not)
  3. nautilus crashes and prompt to end the process

  What I've tested:
  1. sudo apt install --reinstall nautilus
  2. rm ~/.config/nautilus
  none worked

  Strange result:
sometimes (same search, same folder) it doesn't crash. After waiting about
1min (!) doing nothing, the search results appear. After this happy long time,
if I try other searches without closing the window, they work as expected.

I would have posted this a week earlier, but then the strange result
first came out. So I thought that I could figure it out, but I
couldn't. Before that I didn't realize how important the search box
was. Now I have installed nemo as I was waiting nautilus to be fixed.
If I could test anything that it could help, I would love to help!

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1969315] Re: text in torrent info tabs change after opening it to gibberish

2022-06-15 Thread tlk
>A workaround is to use transmission-qt

Some workaround...
And yes it does spew all these errors for me as well. Ultimately it just
crashed.

I fully understand everything and all and I do try to withhold from
ranting/ whining especially towards a "freebie" service, but managing to
make a something of an essential piece of offered by default software
nigh unusable EVEN THOUGH THE UPSTREAM HASN'T CHANGED BETWEEN THE LTS
RELEASES (the -v switch gives the very same version/signature as in
20.04) must take the cake.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1978757] Re: Can't playback preview on Intel IPU6 camera platform

2022-06-15 Thread Shih-Yuan Lee
libcamera is a long term solution that Intel is still working on.
Currently it still needs to use a mid term solution that is to use libcamhal in
https://launchpad.net/~oem-solutions-group/+archive/ubuntu/intel-ipu6 with
v4l2-relayd in jammy/universe to bind the MIPI camera to a v4l2video device
made by v4l2loopback kernel module.
We are still working on making the MIPI camera userspace stack to
jammy/restricted.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1978838] [NEW] Couldn't connect to accessibility bus

2022-06-15 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Public bug reported:

* Impact

the apparmor profile blocks the connection to the accessibility bus
since it hasn't been updated for the new socket location,
https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/at-spi2-core/-/issues/43

* Test Case

start evince, it shouldn't print the warning

dbind-WARNING **: Couldn't connect to accessibility bus: Failed to
connect to socket /run/user/UID/at-spi/bus_0: Permission denied

* Regression potential

The change is only allowing an extra location in the apparmor profile,
we kept also the old path for compatibility reasons and for making the
profile easier to share between series. Allowing the extra location
shouldn't create a regression but if the change was incorrect it is
possible that evince would still bot be able to connect to the bus

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1961508] Re: Dock displaying over window after resuming from blank screen

2022-06-15 Thread Sebastian
If I may add, it seems not all application windows are equally subject
to this super annoying bug, at least subjectively some more so than
others. For example, I "lose" Geary behind the dock almost all of the
time, whereas Vivaldi is always respectful of where it is supposed to
start and end :)

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1969901] Re: network-manager fails to renew ipv6 address

2022-06-15 Thread Robie Basak
Thank you for the comments. These seem like good ideas, but need details
before they are actionable.

I think this update is still blocked on having a specific, step-by-step
test plan please.

Title:
network-manager fails to renew ipv6 address

Status in network-manager package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released
Status in network-manager source package in Bionic:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  [Impact]

   * This affects Ubuntu 18.04 where Network Manager version 1.10.6 is
  used.

   * Network manager might kill dhclient(6) and fail to start it again
causing the IPv6 address to be lost on a network that uses mixed
     IPv4/IPV6.
The network status will still be seen as online in gnome since ipv4
     is still active.
The user then have to manually remove the dhcpv6 lease files and
restart ipv6 connection/restart network manager to regain IPv6
     connectivity.

   * This is a cherry-pick from Network manager 1.10.8 (Ubuntu's version
     is based on 1.10.6):

https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/NetworkManager/NetworkManager/-/commit/7fbbe7ebee99785e38d39c37e515a64a28edef0f

   * Upstream bug:
     https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=783391

  [Test Plan]

   * The exact conditions for reproducing this bug on mixed IPv4/IPv6
networks are not known but includes using both IPv4 and IPv6,
     both using dhcp.

  [Where problems could occur]

   * The change is in the dchp lease expiration handling so verify that
there is no regression in dhcp renewals on different type of
  configuration include IPv6

  [Other Info]
   * We have tested this patch on a couple of clients where we have seen this
this problem. If this patch is feasible to include in Ubuntu 18.04 we
could request more users to test.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1970994] Please test proposed package

2022-06-15 Thread Robie Basak
Hello errors.ubuntu.com, or anyone else affected,

Accepted freerdp2 into jammy-proposed. The package will build now and be
available at
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/freerdp2/2.6.1+dfsg1-3ubuntu2.2 in
a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how
to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this
update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested, what testing has been
performed on the package and change the tag from verification-needed-
jammy to verification-done-jammy. If it does not fix the bug for you,
please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to verification-
failed-jammy. In either case, without details of your testing we will
not be able to proceed.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance for helping!

N.B. The updated package will be released to -updates after the bug(s)
fixed by this package have been verified and the package has been in
-proposed for a minimum of 7 days.

The Ubuntu Error Tracker has been receiving reports about a problem regarding
gnome-remote-desktop. This problem was most recently seen with package version
42.0-4ubuntu1, the problem page at
https://errors.ubuntu.com/problem/77f41623474304919ac793c6665505547b583b60
contains more details, including versions of packages affected, stacktrace or
traceback, and individual crash reports.
If you do not have access to the Ubuntu Error Tracker and are a software
developer, you can request it at http://forms.canonical.com/reports/.

  Test Case 1
  ---
Unfortunately, we weren't able to identify a reliable test case.

We will know if this bug is fixed if errors.ubuntu.com stops reporting
that error with a fully upgraded system. However, that means this
update will need to be pushed to -updates

  Test Case 2
  ---
Install all updates. Log out and log back in.
Open the Settings app to the Sharing page. Turn on Sharing and turn on Remote
Desktop Sharing.
Turn it off then on because there may be a gnome-control-center bug with
initial enabling.

From a second computer, connect to the first computer using Remmina.

The Remote Desktop page on the first computer provides the username
and password to use. I wasn't able to get the "Remote Desktop Address"
to work (maybe avahi doesn't work well?) so just use the first
  computer's IP address.

  So something like:
  RDP jeremy@192.168.1.1

  Ensure that the connection works.

Then repeat the test after updating the second computer to use the
updated freerdp2 since Remmina itself uses freerdp2. Basically we want
to make sure things keep working after the update but also continue to
work for connections between systems that aren't using the same
  version of freerdp2.

  What Could Go Wrong
  ---

[racb] This upload contains a significant rewrite of thread handling
code. So the scope of a regression appears to be wide. Deadlocks,
crashes and other race conditions may appear anywhere.

RDP Sharing using freerdp2 is a new feature for Ubuntu 22.04 LTS as
  part of GNOME 42.

RDP Sharing can be used for providing remote support so it's important
that this feature works well because it may be difficult for the
remote admin to fix issues in person.

freerdp2 is also used by the Remmina and GNOME Connections apps as the
"client" app for RDP Sharing. (The GNOME feature is the "server"
  side.)

This fix is cherrypicked from the stable freerdp2 branch.

2022-06-15 Thread Robie Basak
This needed rebasing onto to the security update 2.6.1+dfsg1-3ubuntu2.1.
To save time I've done that and sponsored a re-upload for you, using the
version string 2.6.1+dfsg1-3ubuntu2.2. I trust that's OK.

This upload contains a significant rewrite of thread handling code.
Normally that would be unsuitable for an SRU on the basis of a
microrelease update. It's not something I'd expect to see in an upstream
"stable" branch, and I think casts doubt on whether this is an
appropriate upstream project to take "stable" microrelease updates from
in general without a change-by-change analysis an individual
justifications each time.

So, thank you for submitting this change on an individual basis. I think
the error counts for this particular issue do justify the SRU in this
case.

However, I do think there is considerable regression risk. Because of
the nature of the change being introduced, the scope of a regression
appears to be wide. Deadlocks, crashes and other race conditions may
appear anywhere. Please look out for this during SRU verification.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1958267] Re: wpa can't connect to servers using TLS 1.1 or older

2022-06-15 Thread Jeroen Bruinink
I enabled propsed and updated wpasupplicant to 2:2.10-6ubuntu2 and I'm
now able to connect to the corporate WiFi network again. Thanks!

Title:
wpa can't connect to servers using TLS 1.1 or older

Status in wpa package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released
Status in wpa source package in Jammy:
  Fix Committed
Status in wpa package in Debian:
  New

Bug description:
  * Impact
wpa built with in openssl3 fails to connect to TLS 1.1 or lower server

  * Test case
try to connect to a TLS <= 1.1 access point

  * Regression potential
the patch lowers the security level in some situation for compatibility, it
shouldn't prevent connecting to newer hardware, still try to connect to
different type of wifi with different security levels

  ---

those uses MD5-SHA1 as digest in its signature algorithm which no
longer meets OpenSSL default level of security of 80 bits

  http://lists.infradead.org/pipermail/hostap/2022-May/040563.html

Workaround are described in #22 and #36 by basically using
  CipherString = DEFAULT@SECLEVEL=0

  which lowers the security level

  - Upgraded wpasupplicant to the latest version: fails to connect
  again.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1978805] [NEW] Using a hardware key during login sometimes fails asking for smart card instead

2022-06-15 Thread Islam
Public bug reported:

I'm using a Yubikey with U2F during gdm3 login which works however
sometimes without a reason, gdm asks for smart card instead, ignoring
the inserted key and doesn't allow me to login at all unless gdm is
restarted from another TTY.

/etc/pam.d/common-auth: auth required pam_u2f.so

The workaround to avoid this issue completely was to modify the file:
/etc/xdg/autostart/org.gnome.SettingsDaemon.Smartcard.desktop

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1713226] Re: systemd-networkd messes up networking

2022-06-15 Thread Lukas Märdian
Netplan generates configuration snippets to make sure an interface is
only handled by the backend renderer (networking-daemon: sd-networkd or
NetworkManager) that is instructed to control that interface nowadays.
This logic has been improved recently:
https://github.com/canonical/netplan/pull/276

Please re-open if this is still an issue.

** Changed in: nplan (Ubuntu)
   Status: Confirmed => Won't Fix

Status in ifupdown package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed
Status in network-manager package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed
Status in nplan package in Ubuntu:
  Won't Fix
Status in systemd package in Ubuntu:
  Won't Fix

Bug description:
Since systemd-234-2ubuntu8 systemd-networkd is enabled by default.

  This causes problems existing configurations
ex1: if the network has ipv6 enables (the host recieves a router
advertisement), networkmanager does not configure the network anymore so you
get only ipv6 and no ipv4 connections (since systemd-networkd seems to bring
only the link up)

ex2: if you use systemd-nspawn and configured static ip addresses in
  /etc/network/interfaces, systemd-networkd adds a dhcp obtained address
on the host0 adapter and a 169.254 address

For the average user both is not expected, so my solution was
systemctl disable systemd-networkd, but since you seem to insist
having this enabled, it must be made sure systemd-networkd does not
  touch existing configurations.

  My suggestion is:
  1) if /etc/network/interfaces contains anything other than lo -> do not
enable systemd-networkd
  2) if network-manager is enabled, systemd-networkd must be disabled and vice
versa

Bug description:
  in LibreOffice: Tools>Options…: the font of the dialog-window is too small;
  same problem:
  Help>About LibreOffice: the font of the dialog-window is too small;
it's because the VLC is set to qt5+cairo (this information can be found in:
Help>About LibreOffice)

  maybe this problem exists for more dialog-windows in LibreOffice;
this problem does not occur in the open/save-dialog-window (I think, it is
because the open/save-dialog-window uses the LXQt File Dialog)

now run those 2 lines on the terminal:
  sudo apt install libreoffice-kf5
  sudo apt remove libreoffice-qt5

now the VLC is set to gtk3 (this information can be found in: Help>About
LibreOffice)
  now the font of the dialog-windows is not too small any more;
so, the problem has got something to do with the package libreoffice-qt5

I think a dongle is fine. I just wanted to avoid getting stuck on
unrelated bugs that docking stations might trigger.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1976567] Re: Desktop resolution was set incorrectly (1024x768) until I booted up the PC AFTER turning on the monitor

2022-06-15 Thread Daniel van Vugt
I just encountered the bug again. When I turned on the monitor the login
screen is at 1024x768 and the system log shows it is using Wayland:

Jun 15 14:03:49 nine gnome-shell[1225]: Running GNOME Shell (using
mutter 42.1) as a Wayland display server

Although the monitor was plugged in when the system booted, the kernel
failed to get a working connection:

Jun 15 14:03:50 nine kernel: i915 :00:02.0: [drm] *ERROR* Link
Training Unsuccessful

That's _after_ the login screen had started. So the bug is occurring
when the kernel can detect a monitor (hence bug 1919400 doesn't happen)
but can't establish a reliable display signal.

For me, the fix was just to log in as usual. Then the correct screen
resolution is detected and used.

If the problem persists for you after logging in then it's a sign you
probably need to replug or replace the monitor data cable. I don't see
any real bug here unless it's the kernel failing to train when it
shouldn't fail.

** Package changed: xorg-server (Ubuntu) => linux (Ubuntu)

** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu)
   Status: Incomplete => Opinion

** No longer affects: mutter (Ubuntu)

2022-06-15 Thread Andy Chi
@vanvugt,
Sure, but we don't have type-c monitor in Lab. I'm using a type-c to HDMI
dongle.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1976204] Re: Screen freeze

2022-06-15 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Thanks for creating bug 1978764. The freeze does not appear to be one
that is visible in stack traces so my next theory is a KMS/DRM screen
update failure. To investigate that please try these separately:

 * Disable atomic KMS in /etc/environment:
   MUTTER_DEBUG_ENABLE_ATOMIC_KMS=0
   and reboot.

 * Follow the instructions in comment #19 so we can see all the
interaction with the kernel DRM functions at the time of the freeze.
