[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1942702] Re: Ubuntu Dock "Show Applications" button: click target doesn't extend to screen edges

2022-07-30 Thread Dimitrij Mijoski
Still not fixed in 22.04. Now the button visually reacts in a weird way
when clicked in the pixel in the corner, but the Applications menu is
not opened.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1983185] [NEW] Recent commit breaks /etc/X11/Xsession

2022-07-30 Thread Alexis Dinno
Public bug reported:

The following command:

$/etc/X11/Xsession true

opens a dialog with the following error message:

"Xsession: unable to launch "true" X session --- "true" not found;
falling back to default session."

There is a "Okay" button on this message, and clicking it does bad
things if one happens to be running Ubuntu 22.04 on Xorg (or running
Gnome on Xorg, which is seemingly a different option for the the low
latency installation I am running: 5.15.0-43-generic #46-Ubuntu SMP Tue
Jul 12 10:30:17 UTC 2022 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux).

See Brendan O'Dea's related comment about this behavior on debian-bugs-
dist: https://www.mail-archive.com/debian-bugs-
d...@lists.debian.org/msg1857023.html

This has consequences in my use of xpra. For example, if I use xpra via
the run_scaled-master script to magnify a single application's interface
for a 4K display I get the error dialog mentioned above, often with
resulting system instability.

This behavior cropped up last month.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1983183] [NEW] miss button on pop up window due to notification server limiation

2022-07-30 Thread zongtao wang
Public bug reported:

Hi,

This issue is related with emacs and ubuntu gnome. In emacs if we eval
below code:

(progn (require 'notifications)
(notifications-notify
:title "only show aa bb cc"
:body "d e are missing"
:timeout 10
:urgency :normal
:actions '("a" "aa" "b" "bb" "c" "cc" "d" "dd" "e" "ee")
:on-action (lambda (id key) (message "id: %s key: %s" id key

There should be 5 buttons shown on pop up window, "aa", "bb", "cc", "dd", "ee".
But it only shows three button "aa", "bb" and "cc", the other two button "dd"
and "ee" are missing.
I have issue this bug to emacs
https://debbugs.gnu.org/cgi/bugreport.cgi?bug=56834, but they conclude this is
notification server limitation, so I suppose I should issue the bug here, hope
issue can be solved here.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1951210] Re: libreoffice help doesn't open in firefox (404 error on file:///tmp/lu417531j7po.tmp/NewHelp0.html)

2022-07-30 Thread kubuntu4u2
The bug is still consistently present in LO 7.3.4.2. Even when using a
browser like FF or Chromium to open
/usr/share/libreoffice/help/index.html results in the "File not found"
error.

Copying the index.html file to ~/Downloads fixes the error (but produces
a blank page in both browsers).

Om my Kubuntu 22.04.1 LTS PC the access rights of the folder
/usr/share/libreoffice/help and index.html file are:
-rwxr-xr-x (755), owner = group = root

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1983175] [NEW] In Wayland, can't wake up monitor after it has gone black

2022-07-30 Thread Coeur Noir
Public bug reported:

Hi,

sorry I don't know if it's about GDM or else.

Ubuntu 22.04.1 LTS
jammy
Linux 5.15.0-41-generic x86_64 x86_64
ubuntu / wayland
installed DE's are :
ubuntu.desktop ubuntu-xorg.desktop

My system is set to turn screen black after some minutes. And after some
other minutes later, it locks the screen → no sleep nor hibernate
involved ( even if sleep and hibernate are ok on that machine. )

On Xorg, after screen's gone black, any mouse or keyboard solicitation
fires up again the screen, as expected.

On Wayland, after screen's gone black, any mouse or keyboard
solicitation just does nothing, screen stays black.

BUT

keyboard is not turned off : only thing that works for « waking up » the screen
is
key-combo [ ctrl ] + [ alt ] + [ F1 ]

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1034999] Re: libreoffice-calc very slow to open/save documents with large cell contents

Title:
libreoffice-calc very slow to open/save documents with large cell
  contents

Status in LibreOffice:
  Unknown
Status in libreoffice package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  Libreoffice-calc 3.6 takes a long time (30sec to minutes) to open/save
spreadsheets containing cells with a lot of content. This is a
regression from libreoffice 3.5 in 12.04 (tested with
  1:3.5.4-0ubuntu1)

  To reproduce:
  1) Open the attached spreadsheet, which contains 1 cell with ~4k characters
in it

  Expected results:
Spreadsheet opens quickly (<2sec on my 2.4Ghz Core2Duo w/ SSD)

  Actual results:
Libreoffice splash screen shows, libreoffice window is displayed as a gray
rectangle with no content, and libreoffice window then becomes unresponsive.
CPU usage is at 100% on one core. The system stays in this state for ~30sec.
The document eventually opens and libreoffice functions normally.

Saving documents with lots of data in a cell takes just as long as
opening/reading those documents, with similar symptoms - libreoffice
becomes unresponsive, one CPU core is at full utilization, etc.

The amount of text in the cell is directly correlated to the length of
time required to open/save the doc.

  ProblemType: Bug
  DistroRelease: Ubuntu 12.10
  Package: libreoffice-calc 1:3.6.0~rc4-0ubuntu2
  ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.5.0-8.8-generic 3.5.0
  Uname: Linux 3.5.0-8-generic x86_64
  ApportVersion: 2.4-0ubuntu6
  Architecture: amd64
  Date: Thu Aug 9 13:20:27 2012
  InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 10.10 "Maverick Meerkat" - Beta amd64 (20100901.1)

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1926218] Re: Disable or Remove FLoC features and the provider service

2022-07-30 Thread Aurora
>So, if that is a correct assessment, although this bug report will
technically solve itself with time (insofar as it is targeted at Floc)

If this closed, someone will open another report in the future

>All in all, apparently Floc is being phased out we have a moving
target. we will still keep an eye for future tracking mechanisms inside
Chromium, under whatever name they may come to be.

It's perfect decision to keep an eye on them and try to keep the
chromium browser free from tracking mechanisms & data collection
possibilities. Some browsers come with privacy model at first but later
change to business models or add third-party services, additional
features, closed-source parts, domains connectivities etc or delay
release updates.

Disable or Remove FLoC features and the provider service

Status in chromium-browser package in Ubuntu:
  Triaged

Bug description:
  Disable or remove entire FLoc,
  - FLoC component
  - Any other FLoC functionalities shipped in Chromium
     - FLoC client-side determinations of cohorts
     - Any reporting of FLoC cohort determinations to Google (or otherwise)
servers (i.e., the reporting used for k-anonymity cohort protections)
     - FLoC JS methods (i.e. document.interestCohort)

Brave, Vivaldi, Bromite have addressed FLoC issue and edge browser has
