*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1971058 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1971058 Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. This particular bug has already been reported and is a duplicate of bug 1971058, so it is being marked as such. Please look at the other bug report to see if there is any missing information that you can provide, or to see if there is a workaround for the bug. Additionally, any further discussion regarding the bug should occur in the other report. Feel free to continue to report any other bugs you may find. ** Package changed: xorg (Ubuntu) => yaru-theme (Ubuntu) ** This bug has been marked a duplicate of bug 1971058 package yaru-theme-gnome-shell ... failed to install/upgrade: new yaru-theme-gnome-shell package pre-installation script subprocess returned error exit status 1 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2007747 Title: dist-upgrade package yaru-theme-gnome-shell could not installed Status in yaru-theme package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: Sorry for my bad english, I am a german ;-) Yesterday I do a dist-upgrade from 20.04. LTS to 22.04 LTS. I do it with the gui "update management" or "Aktualisierungsverwaltung" in german During the process the following problems ocur: 1. During "package installation" a MessageBox pops up, with the following msg: new yaru-theme-gnome-shell package pre-installation script subprocess returned error exit status 1 2. During step "installing firefox snap" there is a second window over the normal one (snap install) that "hangs" After a while (~2min) I am able to abort this one (geting process hangs are You like to kill it) Problem 1, More details: After the upgrade, the system boots right into the logon screen, but I am unable to log in. When I click mei User and enter my passwd, the screen flickers and I get a message: Oh, no, something went wrong logout and try again I do this 3-5 times but always with the same result. Now i switch to a console (Ctrl-Alt-F2) Try to install the package manually sudo apt install yaru-theme-gnome-shell reports a "not owned" file in /usr/share/themes/Yaru-dark/gnome-shell I lock into this folder and found a file "gnome-shell.css.save". After I removed this installation worked and I am able to log into the GUI. That seems to fix problem 1, but not fully. When I try to login imediatly after the system has booted I got the same error as mentioned above. Only when I wait a bit (~20sec) login is possible. I belive that is some kind of timing problem Problem 2, More details: when I start firefox I got a "garbed" window, so it seams that firefox wasn't correctly installed. I will try to reinstall it later and report the result (That's not so importent for me, because I don't use firefox often, I use chrom). X.server dereferences a NULL pointer while trying to access to the PCI device info. * The reason why it only happens while the hyperv_drm kernel module is loaded is that the hyperv_drm module does not expose PCI hardware information since it's a virtual device. * The upstream patch [2] addresses the issue and it's confirmed that the xserver with the patch does not experience the crash. * Ubuntu Focal `xorg-server` package does not include the patch [2] at the moment (xserver-xorg-core=2:1.20.13-1ubuntu1~20.04.6). [Desktop-packages] [Bug 2007683] Re: ubuntu crash randomly after awake from sleep
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It sounds like some part of the system has crashed. To help us find the cause of the crash please follow these steps: 1. Look in /var/crash for crash files and if found run: ubuntu-bug YOURFILE.crash Then tell us the ID of the newly-created bug. 2. If step 1 failed then look at https://errors.ubuntu.com/user/ID where ID is the content of file /var/lib/whoopsie/whoopsie-id on the machine. Do you find any links to recent problems on that page? If so then please send the links to us. Please take care to avoid attaching .crash files to bugs as we are unable to process them as file attachments. It would also be a security risk for yourself. ** Package changed: gnome-shell (Ubuntu) => ubuntu ** Changed in: ubuntu Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to gnome-shell in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2007683 Title: ubuntu crash randomly after awake from sleep Status in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: after suspend ubuntu being lazy and crash , when restart computer i will be okey ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 22.04 Package: gnome-shell 42.5-0ubuntu1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 5.19.0-32.33~22.04.1-generic 5.19.17 Uname: Linux 5.19.0-32-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.20.11-0ubuntu82.3 Architecture: amd64 CasperMD5CheckResult: pass CurrentDesktop: ubuntu:GNOME Date: Fri Feb 17 17:35:23 2023 DisplayManager: gdm3 InstallationDate: Installed on 2022-04-23 (300 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 22.04 LTS "Jammy Jellyfish" - Release amd64 (20220419) RelatedPackageVersions: mutter-common 42.5-0ubuntu1 SourcePackage: gnome-shell UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/2007683/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages Post to : desktop-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

Unfortunately, on the current Jammy image, totem simply reports "The specified movie could not be found" when attempting to play the file (the exit code is 0, no other errors are reported at the command line). I've attempted to install a few gstreamer codecs, in case that might've been the issue (this was necessary on some older versions), but neither gstreamer1.0-plugins-ugly, nor gstreamer1.0-libav made any difference. Just to ensure the video file was intact and playable, I then installed vlc from the archive, which played the video happily. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1739635] Re: Can we please get Mouse Acceleration as a GUI control?
Yes, I requested "Mouse Acceleration" not any other name for it, or behaviour. And this bug/feature request should implement it as "Mouse Acceleration" as that is the term used when humans talk about it, namely in the gaming community/industries. I have posted in that thread you've linked to, thanks for pointing me to this. It would be a mistake to call this feature anything but "Mouse Acceleration" as that is what a human is expecting to see when looking for that setting, and using any other term or verbiage would tangibly make it harder to actually know which setting disables "Mouse Acceleration". The fact there are guides showing how to disable "Mouse Acceleration" in other operating systems reliably demonstrates that the terms used by Windows/macOS, etc, are not sensible or self-indicative terms. If the term used were "Mouse Acceleration", a guide realistically would likely not be needed at all. Adding a function should always take usability into consideration, and there is a very tangible usability difference between "Mouse Acceleration" as a term for the function, or _any other term used_. The devs will do as they may, but again, it would be a tangible mistake to not use "Mouse Acceleration" as the name. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to gnome-control-center in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1739635 Title: Can we please get Mouse Acceleration as a GUI control? [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1199409] Re: Xrandr twitches when using DVI-VGA adapter via triple AMD card setup
If you lose confidence by stabbing yourself then visit this site : https://selfdefensekeychain.shop/ -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-ati in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1199409 Title: Xrandr twitches when using DVI-VGA adapter via triple AMD card setup Status in xserver-xorg-video-ati package in Ubuntu: Triaged Bug description: What I expected to happen is a normal picture on all four of my monitors. What happened instead xrandr will twitch when using a DVI-VGA adapter via ubuntu 12.04-14.04: lspci | grep VGA 01:05.0 VGA compatible controller: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] nee ATI RS880 [Radeon HD 4250] 02:00.0 VGA compatible controller: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] nee ATI RV610 [Radeon HD 2400 PRO] 06:06.0 VGA compatible controller: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] nee ATI RV250/M9 GL [Mobility FireGL 9000/Radeon 9000] (rev 02) fglrx-* in Precise did not recognize all my cards so I was unable to test it. The IGP is connected via DVI to a 24" monitor and via VGA to a 17" monitor, all good so far. Then I have three monitors left, two 15" VGA and one 17" vga, so to use all monitors, I have to use one DVI-VGA adapter. No matter in what order/combination I connect the monitors to the video cards, the monitor that is connected via the adapter always flickers along with the other monitor on that same card (does not matter which card). It seems like the two monitors have two sperate framebuffers, but by default they both show the framebuffer for the monitor with adapter, but when I move the mouse they switch rapidly from that framebuffer to the other and back. Here are three video's showing the problem: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tQiJADHGuZg (Top-Right monitor connected via adapter, in the same card as Bottom-Right) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lk9muK8f06c (Top-Left monitor connected via adapter, in the same card as Bottom-Right) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Ses1jUcu2k (Top-Left monitor connected via adapter, in the same card as Top-Right) I think it's a xrandr problem because using the same setup with zaphodhead mode and xinerama, it works but its EXTREMELY slow. I have already tried another DVI-VGA adapter, but with the same results. Another strange thing is that xrandr seems to think that two monitors are clones, but one of which is not connected. xrandr --verbose log: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1199409/+attachment/3944844/+files/xrandr%20--verbose I have cut out the various supported modes, the full xrandr --verbose output is attached. As you see, VGA-2 and DVI-1 apparently are clones, but in this case only VGA-2 is connected, I don't know if that is normal. I now have connected two monitors (both 15") to VGA-2 and DVI-1, and the xrandr output has not changed, it still shows VGA-2 and DVI-1 as cloned, but the two displays still twitch as in the video's... --- .tmp.unity.support.test.0: ApportVersion: 2.12.7-0ubuntu3 Architecture: amd64 CasperVersion: 1.336ubuntu1 CompizPlugins: No value set for `/apps/compiz-1/general/screen0/options/active_plugins' CompositorRunning: compiz CompositorUnredirectDriverBlacklist: '(nouveau|Intel).*Mesa 8.0' CompositorUnredirectFSW: true CurrentDesktop: Unity DistUpgraded: Fresh install DistroCodename: trusty DistroRelease: Ubuntu 14.04 DistroVariant: ubuntu ExtraDebuggingInterest: No LiveMediaBuild: Ubuntu 14.04 LTS "Trusty Tahr" - Alpha amd64 (20140105) MachineType: To Be Filled By O.E.M.
