It includes a suite of services and commands that empower administrators to efficiently manage policy updates and maintain compliance with organizational business rules. Given that ADSys directly interfaces with Active Directory and needs to align with new business requirements in LTS releases, it has been essential to keep the package consistently updated with the latest changes of ADSys upstream source. As ADSys is a key component of our commercial offerings, our customers anticipate the availability of recently implemented features in the 22.04 release. Now that ADSys has a complete set of features, the request is to proceed with a one-off release of ADSys 0.14.1 to 22.04. Please note that any new features introduced in subsequent versions will be exclusively available in 24.04 and later releases. This version includes a comprehensive end to end automated test suite that runs ADSys against a real Active directory environment. Version 0.14.1 is available for 22.04 in a PPA (https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-enterprise- desktop/+archive/ubuntu/adsys) and already used in production by customers. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 2060350] [NEW] all windows under gnome shell lack the close, minimize and maximize buttons
Public bug reported: Using gnome-shell 46 on noble, no window seems to be rendering the close, maximize and minimize buttons. Trying to click in the top right corner to look for buttons that are transparent yielded no result. The buttons seem to not be present at all. I'm using Rhythmbox 3.4.7 and as you can see on the picture bellow, there are some Unnamed options on Rhythmbox's icon right-click menu: I've tried to copy org.gnome.Rhythmbox.desktop and org.gnome.Rhythmbox.device.desktop files data from Rhythmbox's GitLab to /usr/share/applications (same .desktop files), but nothing has changed. Oddly they don't appear in KDE, but this is a GNOME bug either way because Rhythmbox is made by GNOME. # Analysis The self-answerer added names for the 4 desktop actions. This appeared to fix the problem. However, the new names lack localization. One thing is that the 4 actions will show all the time even if Rhythmbox is not open. Based on the behaviour on KDE, I think that the GNOME developers' original intent was to populate the 4 entries using the running application and hide them otherwise. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 2060331] [NEW] add-apt-repository --list not returning any deb822 repositories
Public bug reported: Recreating the following bug report (#2052851) with a new title per Jeremy Bícha's (jbicha) request: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/software- properties/+bug/2052851 --- On Ubuntu 23.10: * When adding a PPA, 'add-apt-repository' will add the repository in the new deb822 format as a '.sources' file in '/etc/apt/sources.list.d' * However, 'add-apt-repository --list' cannot see/understand the new '.sources' file For example, with the flacon ppa (https://launchpad.net/~flacon/+archive/ubuntu/ppa): 1. 'sudo add-apt-repository ppa:flacon/ppa' adds the flacon repo as '/etc/apt/sources.list.d/flacon-ubuntu-ppa-mantic.sources' 2. apt can install and update from the new repo, as expected. you can also remove the repo, as expected, by running 'sudo add-apt-repository --remove ppa:flacon/ppa' 3. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 2060358] [NEW] Please add German (Noted) layout
Public bug reported: Please add the newest layout of the German Neo keyboard layout family. Noted is a layout designed to make typing as comfortable and efficient as possible in both German and English. It was developed with the help of a layout optimizer, which is based on the metrics and concepts of ArneBab's optimizer and adapts and extends them. I switched from Neo 2 via Mine to Noted and I like to see this variant to be available out of the box in Ubuntu. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1968887] Re: Save As Dialog Box does not get focus in Ubuntu 22.04
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1949340 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1949340 Is there any estimate when this is being solved? This is really annoying. We upgraded the family to 22.04 LTS (using Firefox) and are now affected by this. Everything is updated to the most current level. Thank you. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to gnome-shell in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1968887 Title: Save As Dialog Box does not get focus in Ubuntu 22.04 Status in gnome-shell package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: When using a browser to right click a file and save as, the save as window does not get focus, which means you can't just type the name of the file you want, you have to force focus onto the window to use it by clicking it. This defeats the entire purpose of 2 built in features, 1 being the pre-selected original file name (since you can't rename until you re- aquire focus for that window, thereby undoing the pre-selection programmed in) and 2, the ability to quickly save the file with a keystroke. A side note to this, ubuntu-bug should have an option to report bugs with other WITHOUT having to specify a package. This is a bug in ubuntu-bug. Not a feature. Because we don't always know what package(s) are involved. This needs to be addressed. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 2059847] Re: Input lag or freezes on Nvidia desktops with X11
Probably not related, but "nvidia-driver-535" was mentioned above in a post. I'm now using ppa:vanvugt/mutter and it seems to be fine, but apt also upgraded nvidia driver from 525 to 535 (maybe not related at all just the new nvidia driver was presented now?). Since then I have hard lock-ups on my system what I've never seen before (no keyboard and mouse works). After forced power-off I see this in the kernel log file: Apr 5 15:42:57 rygel kernel: [ 3282.354685] NVRM: GPU at PCI::01:00: GPU-78091d7e-2007-c450-19a1-f764cae07b00 Apr 5 15:42:57 rygel kernel: [ 3282.354689] NVRM: Xid (PCI::01:00): 79, pid='', name=, GPU has fallen off the bus. This bug was fixed in the package pulseaudio - 1:16.1+dfsg1-2ubuntu10 --- pulseaudio (1:16.1+dfsg1-2ubuntu10) noble; urgency=medium * debian/patches/git_tests_alignment.patch: - cherrypick an upstream change to fix a test failure with the new orc version -- Sebastien Bacher Wed, 03 Apr 2024 10:18:51 +0200 ** Changed in: pulseaudio (Ubuntu Noble) Status: Fix Committed => Fix Released -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to pulseaudio in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2051895 Title: Lenovo XT99 BT headset can't work in HFP profile Status in HWE Next: New Status in pulseaudio package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Status in pulseaudio source package in Jammy: Fix Released Status in pulseaudio source package in Mantic: Fix Released Status in pulseaudio source package in Noble: Fix Released Bug description: [Summary] When use the ThinkPluse xt99 bluetooth head set to run the test com.canonical.certification::bluetooth/audio_record_playback, it cannot record the sound and playback. It seems this device cannot switch to Hand free mode in this platform. [Steps to reproduce] Connect the ThinkPluse xt99, use the Handfree mode, then try to record some voice. [Expected result] The bluetooth headset ThinkPluse xt99 can use as a MIC to input sound. [Actual result] The bluetooth headset xt99 cannot work in the Handfree mode. [Failure rate] 100% [Impact] With the current Ubuntu 22.04 oem image, we try to connect the LENOVO XT99 bt headset and let it work in HFP mode, we select HFP profile from gnome sound-setting, but the microphone will not auto change to bt microphone and the bt output could not work too. So this BT headset could only work in A2DP mode with the current 22.04 OEM image. And we tried ubuntu 22.04 generic image, mantic image and noble image, none of them could make the headset work in HFP mode. [Fix] Cherry-pick a pulseaudio commit from upstream. [Test] I installed ubuntu 22.04 and 23.10 on 2 different Thinkpad laptops, then upgraded the pulseaudio from my ppa (ppa:hui.wang/pa-testing), in theory my change only affects bluetooth audio devices, it will not bring any impact to non-audio bluetooth devices, here I did the test with 7 bluetooth audio devices and 2 non-audio devices: BT audio devices (pairing, connection, re-connection, playback and capture all worked well): PLT_BBTGO2 (headset) Xiaomi Air3 SE (headset) Crusher Wireless (headset) SOAIY S18 (sound box) HK Soho Wireless (headset) Thinkplus XT99 (headset) Wl-1000X (headset) BT non-audio devices (pairing, connection, re-connection, key input all worked well): BT3.0 Keyboard The Pinao 2 keyboard [Where problems could occur] This change will impact bt headset negotiation process in the pulseaudio, so the possiblity of regression is limited to bt headset, it could make the bt headset fail to connect, but this possibility is very low, we tested the patch with different bt headset and bt speaker, all worked well. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 2017452] Re: On run, nautilus opens two windows instead of one
Wow, this one's weird. Some observations: 1. It only happens once. 2. It also happens if you click on the menu entry instead of using the runner. 3. Doesn't happen if you run `nautilus` in terminal. 4. The Exec line of the desktop file is `nautilus --new window`. 5. Doesn't happen if you run `nautilus --new window` in terminal. Don't have any clue how one fixes or where it's coming from exactly, but I suspect that desktop file is somehow involved. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to nautilus in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2017452 Title: On run, nautilus opens two windows instead of one Status in nautilus package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: Narrative: I boot into a live Lubuntu operating system -- either 22.10 or 23.04; bug is the same in both -- and open up the terminal where I run 'sudo apt update && sudo apt install nautilus' Next I use the "Superkey + R" keyboard shortcut to open up the dialog to run a program. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1987159] Re: Drop VNC support from GNOME Remote Desktop in Kinetic
This should at the very least be a setting, or you should provide a way to hook an arbitrary screen sharing service into the control panel so a 3rd party developer can still provide an integrated interface to manage the service. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to gnome-control-center in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1987159 Title: Drop VNC support from GNOME Remote Desktop in Kinetic Status in gnome-control-center package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Status in gnome-remote-desktop package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Bug description: RDP has significantly improved privacy and performance compared to VNC. I am struggling to find any use cases where GNOME's VNC should be preferred to RDP. GNOME is so far unwilling to provide full VNC options in the GNOME Settings app. The VNC feature was labeled as Legacy in Ubuntu 22.04 LTS. There is value in only providing a single remote desktop method by default that works well. gnome-remote-desktop 43 by default only builds the RDP provider and so far I haven't seen complaints about that. Therefore, I think we should drop the VNC feature for Ubuntu 22.10. Otherwise, we need to: 1. enable VNC in gnome-remote-desktop 43 2. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 2052851] Re: add-apt-repository Cannot Manage deb822 Repository Sources
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 2033949 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2033949 I marked this as a duplicate because Ubuntu 24.04 LTS does handle PPAs now. I recommend trying Ubuntu 24.04 LTS Beta when it is released soon. Could you open a separate issue for add-apt-repository --list not returning any deb822 repositories? ** This bug has been marked a duplicate of bug 2033949 Does not work with Ubuntu sources in deb822 format -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to software-properties in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2052851 Title: add-apt-repository Cannot Manage deb822 Repository Sources Status in software-properties package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: On Ubuntu 23.10... * When adding a PPA, 'add-apt-repository' will add the repository in the new deb822 format as a '.sources' file in '/etc/apt/sources.list.d' * However, 'add-apt-repository --list' cannot see/understand the new '.sources' file For example, with the flacon ppa (https://launchpad.net/~flacon/+archive/ubuntu/ppa): 1. However, 'add-apt-repository --list' does not list the repo as it should. GUI package managers such as Muon and Synaptic also do not see the new repo. It makes working with packages quite frustrating, and unfortunately, per Julian Andres Klode (juliank), there seems to be no plan to fix the broken 'software-properties-common' any time soon. > All of us connecting from our macbooks really really resent this decision.
