[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1987157] [NEW] Slow right mouse click does not show context menu

2022-08-20 Thread 2green
Public bug reported:

Slower Right mouse clicks don't show the context menu on desktops and several
tested apps.
(Technically the context menu is shown and disappears again when letting go of
the right mouse button).

Steps to reproduce:
* boot fresh (fresh installed) ubuntu 22.04
* login
* do a slow right mouse click on destkop wallpaper e.g. hold right mouse key
for 2 seconds (the actually needed amount of time can be much shorter, 2
seconds is just for reproduction purposes)

Results:
Menu appears on right mouse press
Menu disappears when letting go of the right mouse button (even if the button
is clicked relatively faster than holding it down for 2 seconds)

Expected result:
Menu appears when clicking right mouse buttun
Menu stays visible when letting go of right mouse button.
Menu only disappears when clicking somewhere else of holding down the right
mouse button extremely long.

Problem:
currently the context menu is a hit or no hit to get shown, giving the user the
annoyance to have to click serveral times to show the context menu. This gets
tedious real fast. It got this complaints from regular users, but actually
noticed this myself on regularly as well, while I'm a fairly fast mouse user.
In fact I find it hindering my daily workflow as well.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1153734] Re: Corrupt graphics on Ubuntu 13.04

2013-03-30 Thread 2green
@Nick, you can also use a live boot from cd or usb drive with ubuntu
13.04 on it.

After booting you can see if the problem still occurs and run 'apport-
collect 1153734' as suggested by Dave Lentz.

  twitchy, it got so bad I started saving my document frequently. It's
  not just OO, it does it all the time. I thought it was the display
  connection failing as tapping the laptop would return the display
  normal. It never crashes, keeps going but just can't see what I'm
  typing. Even now, I see the screen twitching. I have re-inserted my
  old drive, booted up and everything is stable. The old system was
  12.10 32bit. Anyone got any idea's??

  Shortcuts - shortcuts don't work when application indicators are

Status in “unity” package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
  Shortcuts will not work with:
  - open application indicators (e.g. switch user account, time and date
settings, etc)
  - opened sound level bar in movie player and similar stuff from other apps.
  - opened dash home
  - etc.

  This bug blocks an efficient work proces for the user and the usage of
  shortcuts is no longer predictable. Also the chance it occurs is
  pretty high.

  * Steps to reproduce

  Open a windowed app (e.g. firefox)
  Show desktop using the shortcut ctrl-alt-d
  Maximize the windowed app again (e.g. firefox)
  Left click on 'time and date' in the upper right corner (leave the
application indicator opened)
  Show desktop using the shortcut ctrl-alt-d

  * Expected behavior

  The windows app is minimized.

  * Current behavior

  Nothing happens (the windowed app is not minimized)

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 968231] Re: Incorrect work keyboard shortcuts in the main menu

2012-05-27 Thread 2green
Hello 7Azimuth,

Just retested this bugs following the steps you described on 12.04 with
latest updates.

1. open the main menu.
2. Go to the section Applications.
3. Press the Tab key to move down, and then press Shift+Tab key to move up and
see that the focus is lost when I move up.

With the latest updates of 12.04 this scenario no longer gives problems
because the 'shift' key tranfers the focus to the searchfield itself.

I'm closing this bug with the status 'fix commited'. Please change back
the status if I missed something of this problem still occurs on your
system.

Kinds regards,

John

Bug description:
  TESTCASE:
  1. Open a window and minimize it.
  2. Show desktop; Ctrl+Alt+D in Ubuntu 11.10, Ctrl+Super+D in 12.04. Or
Alt-Tab to the desktop.
  3. Show desktop again.
  4. Unminimize the window. Its title bar now can't be clicked.

  ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION:
  windows A and B are open (but not maximized), and windows C and D are
minimized. If I hit ctrl+alt+D to show the desktop (which minimizes A and B),
then when I open windows C and D, the title bars are unclickable. Note, in this
case, the title bars of windows A and B are not affected. Hitting ctrl+alt+D
only affects the title bars of windows that were minimized when ctrl+alt+D was
hit.

  If I then open all windows and hit ctrl+alt+D to close them, then the
  title bars of all windows go back to normal (i.e., they are all
  clickable again).

  Please see the screencast (do note that I have menubars because of
  another bug; however, it does help demonstrate that only the titlebars
  are not receiving clicks.

  dragged shortcut from dash-menu stays on desktop when opening

Status in “unity” package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
  Dragged shortcut from dash-menu stays on desktop when opening
  application menu

  * Use case
  - minimize or close all windows in current workspace
  - drag firefox icon from the dash menu to the desktop using the left mouse
button
  - press the 'alt' button while not moving the mouse and still holding the
left mouse button
  - let the left mouse button go

  * Expected behavior
  - the icon that was dragged to the desktop disapears when letting the mouse
button go.

  * current behaviour
  - the icon stays on the desktop until the user is moving an item on the
dash-menu

  * Extra information
  - In this example firefox is used, but this problem occurs with other icons
as well.
  - Dragging a shortcut from the dash-menu to the desktop should probably not
be possible.
  - At this moment the only way to put a icon from the dash menu on the desktop
is by holding the alt-key.
  - currently only one icon from the dash can be put on can be put on the
desktop
  - the icon from the dash on the desktop does not work
  - the icon from the dash on the desktop stays hovering above every window
  - as soon one of the icons in the dash menu is reordered, the icon on the
desktop disapears

  - Pressing ctrl - alt - D to minimize windows
  - Super + W to show windows

  * expected behavior
  all windows in current workspace are spread (as mentioned in the super Help

  System opens launcher, displays shortcuts, laucher stays hovering above other
windows.
  Launcher and shortcuts stay hovering in the screen until the user taps two
time on the super key.

  * Extra information
  The same problem occurs with any other non-existing super+[any key]

  Not every user understands why the laucher appears or how to make it

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 962544] Re: dragged shortcut from dash-menu stays on desktop when opening application menu

2012-03-23 Thread 2green
Reading Bilal Akhtar's reaction its clear that the current behavior is
not working well or is incomplete.

current problems:
- At this moment the only way to put a icon from the dash menu on the desktop
is by holding the alt-key.
- currently only one icon from the dash can be put on can be put on the desktop
- the icon from the dash on the desktop does not work
- the icon from the dash on the desktop stays hovering above every window
- as soon one of the icons in the dash menu is reordered, the icon on the
desktop disapears

  dragged shortcut from dash-menu stays on desktop when opening

Status in “unity” package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
  Dragged shortcut from dash-menu stays on desktop when opening
  application menu

  * Use case
  - minimize or close all windows in current workspace
  - drag firefox icon from the dash menu to the desktop using the left mouse
button
  - press the 'alt' button while not moving the mouse and still holding the
left mouse button
  - let the left mouse button go

  * Expected behavior
  - the icon that was dragged to the desktop disapears when letting the mouse
button go.

  * current behaviour
  - the icon stays on the desktop until the user is moving an item on the
dash-menu

  * Extra information
  - In this example firefox is used, but this problem occurs with other icons
as well.
  - Dragging a shortcut from the dash-menu to the desktop should probably not
be possible.

2012-03-19 Thread 2green
@Alex, iḿ sorry but the super help pop-up says all windows should be
spread. So this includes minimized windows

this is the bug I was going to file, but just to be sure:

- Pressing ctrl - alt - D to minimize windows
- Super + W to show windows

expected behavior
all windows in current workspace are spread (as promised in the super Help
pop-up)

unexpected behavior
minimized windoas are not spread.
