And in its actions it demostrates that it has become slower. Is any way to improve the performance of Inkscape (for example, using a separate thread to loading the plugins, using a load of components by demand, using OpenGL+Shaders for drawings,...) This label is inappropriate for a couple of reasons: 1. False implication that the buttons apply some sort of visual effect (blur, noise etc). Most (perhaps all?) other toolbar labels are nouns for the related property (Width:, Force:, Angle X etc). Affect: is a verb. Fonts can be changed via the Text and Font dialog from the menu. After changing font once, fonts can then be selected also from the drop-down list. Details: I start Inkscape, select the Text tool and draw a boundary box. The Text properties toolbar appears. In the Font list, the first font listed is 'Bitstream Vera Sans' followed by an exclamation mark icon with the mouse hover-above description 'Font not found on system'. After writing some text, I cant change its font using the drop-down font list in the toolbar. All fonts are marked with the icon and the text 'Font not found on system'. I confirmed that fonts are indeed installed on the system. To change fonts of text I need to click on the text box and select Text - Text and Font from the main menu. Selecting a new font and clicking Apply will then change the font. After closing the Text and Font window the fonts in the drop-down list in the toolbar are no longer marked as 'not found' (as described above). Expected behavior: It should be possible to change fonts directly from the drop-down list immediately after starting Inkscape, without having to do it once via the Text and Font dialog first. I have not found an existing bug for this. bob@Harvey10:~$ lsb_release -rd Description: Ubuntu 10.04.3 LTS Release: 10.04 bob@Harvey10:~$ apt-cache policy inkscape inkscape: Installed: 0.47.0-2ubuntu2 Candidate: 0.47.0-2ubuntu2 Version table: *** 0.47.0-2ubuntu2 0 500 http://gb.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ lucid/main Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape/+bug/840625/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages Post to : desktop-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

Please update Ubuntu 15.04 packages to the latest stable Inkscape version. Packages for Uuntu 14.x, 12.04 and 15.04 are available at ppa:inkscape.dev/stable - see https://launchpad.net/~inkscape.dev/+archive/ubuntu/stable This release marks the culmination of a multi-year effort to switch to a new internal graphics rendering engine, Cairo. This brings performance enhancements and more accurate rendering of drawings. A new Trace Pixel Art feature enables creation of vector art from bitmaps, sprites, and icons. A new Symbols Library provides reusable graphics elements - you can even read in Visio symbol libraries. New Snapping options and improved Snap preferences make it easier to quickly place items in the alignments you need. The tools for arranging objects offer several new ways to position the elements of a drawing. Tons of other little improvements have been made across all the other tools as well. Several new file formats are supported, including FXG, SIF and HTML5 export; and VSD and CDR import. EMF/WMF are now readable and writable for all platforms. And XCF, PDF, EPS, and PS+LaTeX support are improved. Inkscape has a rich Extension ecosystem, which is well known for bringing clever, cool, and innovative new ideas. Over a dozen new extensions are added in this release, including an Isometric Grid Generator, a Bitmap Cropper, a Text Extractor and a Text Merger, an HSL Adjuster, a Font Replacer, a Voronoï Diagram Creator, and more. The above barely scratches the surface of all the new stuff included in this release. Reverting fixed status pending confirmation ** Changed in: inkscape Status: Fix Released = Triaged -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to inkscape in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/167262 Title: In the Text and Font dialog, Ctrl+Z (Undo) destroys text Status in Inkscape: A Vector Drawing Tool: Triaged Status in “inkscape” package in Ubuntu: Triaged Status in “inkscape” package in Debian: Confirmed Bug description: Problem: When typing text directly into the Text and Font dialog (Shift+Ctrl+T, Text tab), pressing the Ctrl+Z key or Edit menu Undo, removes the text, with no possiblity of recovery. The Redo action (Shift+Ctrl+Z) does not recover the text. Even if Redo did recover the text, it would be easy to lose the text if more text were typed after the undo. Workaround: Enter text into a separate text editing application, then copy and paste the text in. This avoids accidental loss of text. Proposed Solutions: Disable Undo while the Text and Font dialog (Text tab ) text entry dialog, has keyboard focus. Or, if Undo is pressed, alert the user of the loss of data with a Yes/No dialog. It still pops up a dialog whether to save the current document when trying to close the window, but the buttons in this dialog are also inactive. One has to forcefully kill it from htop or the like. Steps to reproduce: 1) draw or select an arbitrary bezier curve 2) retract the handles of a node by Ctrl+clicking on them 3) try to pull the handles out again by Shift+dragging from the node edit: The system information below is for my 32bit system which shows the same behavior as the 64bit one from which I reported this bug. --- Architecture: i386 DistroRelease: Ubuntu 11.04 InstallationMedia: Kubuntu 10.10 Maverick Meerkat - Release i386 (20101007) Package: inkscape 0.48.1-2ubuntu2 PackageArchitecture: i386 ProcEnviron: LANGUAGE=en_US LANG=de_DE.utf8 LC_MESSAGES=en_US.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.38-8.42-generic 2.6.38.2 Tags: natty Uname: Linux 2.6.38-8-generic i686 UpgradeStatus: Upgraded to natty on 2011-05-09 (23 days ago) UserGroups: adm admin cdrom dialout lpadmin plugdev sambashare To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape/+bug/790677/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages Post to : desktop-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

But there is still at least one object missing - the gray factories background. I am unable to access that. ** Also affects: inkscape Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to inkscape in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1329900 Title: fix flowed text in svg Status in Inkscape: A Vector Drawing Tool: New Status in “inkscape” package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: I ran into the problem described at http://wiki.inkscape.org/wiki/index.php/FAQ#What_about_flowed_text.3F If however you really need flowed text, you will have to convert it to regular (non-flowed) text by the Convert to text command in the Text menu. THIS COMMAND FULLY PRESERVES THE APPEARANCE AND FORMATTED OF YOUR FLOWED TEXT but makes it non-flowed and SVG 1.1-compliant. (emphasys added) The part in uppercase is bullshit. If you chose the text and do convert to text, the text completely changes its positioning. For example, I have a text centered to a certain area, and it moves to the left to an apparently random position. Also, if you have decided to keep the flowed text feature, it makes NO SENSE to keep it in its current broken status which corresponds to an obsolete version of the specs until the SVG 1.2 draft becomes final. You should fix the implementation to conform to the current status of the standard. ** Also affects: inkscape Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to inkscape in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1329886 Title: saves ghost empty text boxes Status in Inkscape: A Vector Drawing Tool: New Status in “inkscape” package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: Steps to reproduce: - select the text tool - draw the area where you want to write the text - Whops, that was not exactly the area I want it, let's redraw it from scratch - One more time - save into plain SVG (I guess Inkscape SVG would do as well) Expected result: the empty textboxes should be completely forgotten and deleted; OR they should be visible and accessible, so that you know they are there and you can move, modify, or remove them Observed: everything looks like those text boxes you accidentally drew and left empty don't exist. You can't see them, you can't select them, you can't reuse them and write into them, or delete them. YET they are saved into the SVG file. You get garbage empty useless invisible text areas that you can't even delete.
