[Desktop-packages] [Bug 998750] [NEW] Accounts Manager doesn't open, sometimes means empathy can't sign in.
Public bug reported: The Empathy Accounts manager doesn't open for managing accounts. Often after the first time empathy is closed and reopened empathy doesn't sign in and presents an error message saying: Error contacting the Account Manager There was an error while trying to connect to the Telepathy Account Manager. The error was: Did not receive a reply. Possible causes include: the remote application did not send a reply, the message bus security policy blocked the reply, the reply timeout expired, or the network connection was broken. Also strange behaviour occurs when attempting to open chat windows, sometimes slow, sometimes they won't open at all, these bugs seem related as they started occurring at the same time, however I will submit a separate report. Steps to reproduce: 1) Log in 2) Open Empathy 3) Try to access Edit Accounts or press F4 4) Nothing happens Further steps for second open problem: 5) Quit empathy Chat Quit or press Q 6) Open empathy again 7) Observe aforementioned error message. Alternatively, running empathy-accounts from the terminal has the same problem, the command hangs, no output to the terminal, and after a while exits. I was able to fix the problem by uninstalling, removing it's gconf
settings with gconftool-2 --unset-recursive /apps/banshee-1. this has
rectified the problem although I lost all my settings.
