Title:
App Grid icons out of alignment when opening from overview

Status in Dash to dock:
  New
Status in gnome-shell-extension-ubuntu-dock package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  Affected version:
  Ubuntu 20.04
  Gnome Shell Version 3.36.1
  Only tested on xorg

  Bug summary:
When opening the App Grid (aka "Show Applications) from the window overview
(I don't know the technical terms) the icons shift out of alignment. This gets
worse if you have multiple pages of apps (as I do), and it gets even worse the
more you open and close the App Grid in this manner.
I cannot see the same bug if you just open the App Grid from the desktop.

  Steps to reproduce:
  1. Open the overview window using the Super Key
  2. Click the "Show Applications" icon
  3. You will see the icons in the App Grid shift downwards
  4. Scroll down to see the icons move further out of alignment

What did GNOME Shell do that was unexpected?:
Display the App Window icons out of alignment when accessing the app grid via
the window overview (pressing the Super key)

What did you expect to happen:
I expected the icons to display properly.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1876352] Re: App Grid icons out of alignment when opening from overview

2020-05-08 Thread Carwyn Nelson
I've tried to see if I can find this bug in dash-to-dock master but if
it is there it's like finding a needle in a haystack.

Do you have any advice for how to track this down?

I'm beginning to think that this bug somehow only exists in the ubuntu-
dock branch, although I have no strong evidence to support that.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1876352] Re: App Grid icons out of alignment when opening from overview

2020-05-04 Thread Carwyn Nelson
When I was bisecting git threw me into a few commits that did not have
the ubuntu-dock modifications and I was not able to spot the bug in
those.

I've tried to see if there is anything obviously broken in the bisected
commmit, but my lack of knowledge in gnome extensions means I haven't
found anything yet.

I will try and find some time to delve into the upstream dash-to-dock
commits and see if the bug existed there, and if so what fix was
applied.

2020-05-01 Thread Carwyn Nelson
After some further help from the upstream bug ticket it looks like this
is an issue with the Ubuntu Dock (dash-to-dock).

If you disable that extension this issue no longer occurs.
