Status in “poppler” package in Ubuntu:
  Triaged

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: evince

This is a feature request to verify digital signatures. I'm receiving more
and more digitally signed PDF's and evince already acknowledges them with:
  Signature Not Verified
  Digitally signed by signer
  Date: time stamp
  Reason: reason
  Location: location
but it would be great if Evince would be integrated into the distro's
ca-certificate infrastructure to verify these signatures.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1091567] [NEW] upgrade.py crashes if a captive portal is used

2012-12-18 Thread Daniël van Eeden
Public bug reported:

The hp-upgrade --check command downloads info from
http://hplip.sourceforge.net/hplip_web.conf. This fails if a captive
portal is used for WLAN authentication (Hotels, Airports, etc)

This could have a security impact as it downloads information without
verifying the source. A specially crafted config file or limitless
(/dev/null, /dev/random) file could have an impact.

1. Use TLS and verify certificates
2. Use GPG to sign the file and verify on the client.
3. Limit the maximum amount of bytes downloaded
4. Validate the config file.
5. Retry the upgrade check at a later time (after wlan authentication)
6. Use APT to check for updates if that's possible

PythonArgs: ['/usr/bin/hp-upgrade', '--check']

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 934887] [NEW] Firefox user-agent string is too unique

2012-02-18 Thread Daniël van Eeden
Public bug reported:

As shown on http://panopticlick.eff.org

The useragent string Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Ubuntu; Linux x86_64; rv:10.0.2)
Gecko/20100101 Firefox/10.0.2 is too unique and in combination with a
fairly unique plugin list this allows browser fingerprint tracking,
which is bad for privacy.

I would suggest this change:
Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Ubuntu; Linux x86_64; rv:10.0.2) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/10.0.2
Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Ubuntu; Linux x86_64; rv:10.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/10.0

This removes makes the version number less unique. Also the Gecko
version could be made a bit more generic.

** Affects: firefox (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 720466] Re: When I try burning DVDs it ejects and say that it's impossible to link plugin pads.

2012-01-15 Thread Daniël van Eeden
To reproduce:
1. Start Brasero
2. Choose video project
3. Add a .dvd file which is produced with OpenShot (DVD-PAL export)
4. Click Burn…
5. Set disk image type to Video DVD image and choose Native format and
4:3
6. Click create image

Brasero calles /usr/bin/genisoimage -input-charset utf8 which
generates an error if I try it.

--
$ /usr/bin/genisoimage -input-charset utf8
/usr/bin/genisoimage: Missing pathspec.
Usage: genisoimage [options] -o file directory ...

Use genisoimage -help
to get a list of valid options.

Report problems to debburn-de...@lists.alioth.debian.org.

2012-01-15 Thread Daniël van Eeden
The brasero_vob_error_on_pad_linking in plugins/transcode/burn-vob.c is
only called by brasero_vob_new_decoded_pad_cb. This could have something
to do with PulseAudio.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 408903] Re: Thinkpad T400s, T410s, T410, T510 W510 microphone mute button does not work

2011-12-15 Thread Daniël van Eeden
With kernel 3.0.0-14-generic on oneiric with a T410s this is the output
from xev when I press the micmute button. There is no event when I
release the key. Pressing the micmute button emits a KeyPress and a
KeyRelease event.

KeyPress event, serial 35, synthetic NO, window 0x461,
root 0xc1, subw 0x0, time 93097135, (103,-18), root:(1544,10),
state 0x0, keycode 248 (keysym 0x0, NoSymbol), same_screen YES,
XLookupString gives 0 bytes:
XmbLookupString gives 0 bytes:
XFilterEvent returns: False

KeyRelease event, serial 35, synthetic NO, window 0x461,
root 0xc1, subw 0x0, time 93097135, (103,-18), root:(1544,10),
state 0x0, keycode 248 (keysym 0x0, NoSymbol), same_screen YES,
XLookupString gives 0 bytes:
XFilterEvent returns: False

As far as I known there is still no micmute shortcut defined in gnome3.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 675039] Re: NetworkManager asks pin code numerous times on 3G cards while the code is in the nm config

2011-11-06 Thread Daniël van Eeden
This is still an issue with network-manager 0.9.1.90-0ubuntu5 and
modemmanager 0.5-1ubuntu1 on Ubuntu 11.10 (oneiric) with gnome-shell.

The pin dialog pops up after every suspend/resume so this is quite
annoying. As more and more laptops are equipped with 3G cards this might
affect many users. I think the importence of this bug should be set to
something other than Undecided.

I've noticed this bug also exists in Gutsy and Hardy as well. This
