Thanks, Martin! Does this mean bug #1628431 is also fixed?

Title:
[Wayland] Sharing indicator window is not frameless

Status in Mozilla Firefox:
  Fix Released
Status in firefox package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
I'm running updated hirsute with the firefox 87.0+build3-0ubuntu4 deb,
just as it comes. This system was a fresh install of 20.10 that was
  then upgraded to 21.04.

When I have a tab that will start using my webcam/mic, there is a new
ff window that is created with these icons. The window is (more or
less) minimized to fit the size of the icons (see screenshot). I can
close the window by clicking the normal x, and closing this window
does not interrupt my webcam/mic usage.

What I normally expect is that when my webcam/mic is being used by some ff
tab, the ff/webcam/mic icons are displayed constantly in the top middle of my
display.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 606365]

2018-12-29 Thread Dennis Schridde
Does the import work when using nmcli (`nmcli connection import type
openvpn file $FILENAME`)?

If nmcli works, I would think this is mostly caused by Plasma NM not
using the NetworkManager OpenVPN code to import configuration files (bug
#396530), but implements an own buggy version.

  Binary package hint: network-manager-openvpn-gnome

So a client of mine runs an OpenVPN setup. It exported a client.ovpn
file but it fails to completely import this file using the network-
  manager (gnome) on Ubuntu 10.04.

When I import the file, it gives me the name ("client") and gateway
("vpn.example.org") on the initial screen. No other fields are
populated even though the client.ovpn file also includes a user
certificate, server certifikate and a private key.

When I go to advanced, some (most) of the settings obviously seem to
import correct, others not at all. E.g. none of the TLS settings (key
  and key direction) are imported.

From what I understand I should be able to use this without any
  additional settings.

The following software is installed through aptitude:

   * openvpn (2.1.0)
   * openvpn-blacklist
   * network-manager-openvpn
   * network-manager-openvpn-gnome

The segfault in chromium does not happen anymore (as I do not use chromium

Thus if the issue persists for anyone else, please report it in the way
Christopher described above.

I usually get an application-crashed information in the systray, but
due to apport bug #1058376, no crash report ever gets send to
  Launchpad.

This does not seem to depend on the website being looked at. It
appears randomly and is not reproducible when watching the same
website again. It seems to happen only when leaving one page / loading
another, but never when the page is already loaded. Sometimes Chromium
does not crash, but freezes instead and has to be killed.

It happens only since a few weeks (maybe 1-2 months at max), so it
could be caused by an update to some library. Chromium was also
  updated during that timeframe: chromium-browser:i386
  (18.0.1025.168~r134367-0ubuntu0.12.04.1,
  20.0.1132.47~r144678-0ubuntu0.12.04.1), from /var/log/apt/history.log.
I downgraded to a version archived on Launchpad [1], which does not
  show the bug.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 828756] Re: getting connection is untrusted warnings

2013-12-26 Thread Dennis Schridde
I get this error within my Enlightenment session.

I originally installed Ubuntu as Bodhi, but then disabled its
repositories and have since reinstalled *every* package with --force-
confnew --force-confask to get rid of this issue. This did not help at
all.

What did help is the instruction in comment #39. Instructions for E17:
* Settings Console - Applications - Desktop Environments:
+ Start GNOME Services on login
* Settings Console - Applications - Autostart Applications:
+ PolicyKit Authentication Agent (this bug is also reported against p11-kit,
so I figured I might enable it, even though it seems unrelated)
+ Certificate And Key Storage (this is probably the most important one, but
I did not bother to test it alone)
   + Secret Storage Service
   + GPG Password Agent
   + SSH Key Agent

Please note that *both* settings were necessary. Just starting the GNOME
Services did not help.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1094032] Re: telepathy-gabble generates 100% CPU load and probably leaks memory when unable to connect

I am also affected regularly since I updated to net-voip/telepathy-

Title:
telepathy-gabble generates 100% CPU load and probably leaks memory
  when unable to connect

Status in “telepathy-gabble” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  Description: Ubuntu 12.10
  Release: 12.10

  telepathy-gabble:
Installed: 0.16.1-2
Candidate: 0.16.1-2
Version table:
   *** 0.16.1-2 0
  500 http://cz.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ quantal/main amd64 Packages
  100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

When behind the proxy telepathy-gabble cannot connect to jabber server
as the empathy/telepathy framework does not seem to support proxy (see
bug 893031). While it tries to connect, telepathy-gabble takes single
of CPU cores and generates 100% load (probably polling in endless loop
  or so).

Also, it is very likely that there's a memory leak in telepathy-gabble
as after 10mins of it's process being stuck it takes around 3gigs of
virtual memory according to htop's output.

Now I can print perfectly from gedit for example. After sending the print

But with LibreOffice it never asks the credentials, so the printing fails
(ACCESS DENIED in cups).

Think this should be fixed asap :) Cause not being able to print in an Office

Title:
  right mouse click disabled

Status in “firefox” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: firefox

  Hi,

when loading Firefox and checking whether the right-mouse click works,
everything is fine but after a while, for some unknown reason, this appears to
have become disabled.
  When that happens, I can't re-enable it.

The only way to use the right mouse button again within Firefox is by closing
Firefox and restarting it.
After that it works just fine again (for as long as it takes).

This issue does not only occur on my (orriginally Vista) Laptop but also on
my old (orriginally Windows XP) computer.
On both machines I have installed the same Linux Kubuntu 10.04 LTS operating
system.

  1. Description: Ubuntu 10.04.1 LTS, Release: 10.04
  3. show me the appropriate popup menu
  4. nothing

  Cheers,
  Jo
  (The Netherlands)

Drop downs, drag-and-drop and right click menus don't work with
  Mozilla ff/tb 14.0

Status in “firefox” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed
Status in “unity-2d” package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid
Status in “unity-2d” source package in Natty:
  Won't Fix

Bug description:
This bug is similar to bug 1016386, which was recently fixed for
thunderbird 13.0.1. When testing the latest Mozilla betas from the
  mozillateam/firefox-next and mozillateam/thunderbird-next PPAs, I
noticed that firefox and thunderbird 14.0 have a similar problem.

I believe this is specific to unity-2d in Natty. I cannot reproduce it
in the default Natty fallback (Ubuntu Classic) when unity-2d is not
  installed.

Thunderbird drop down menu test case:
  1. Launch thunderbird from the Unity launcher
  2. Edit - Account Settings
  3. Click on account actions, it should show a drop down of choices, but
doesn't

Firefox drop down menu test case:
  1. Launch firefox from the Unity launcher
  2. Edit - Preferences
  3. Click the When Firefox starts drop down. It should show several choice
but doesn't.

NOTE: Only after triggering the drop down menu bugs, will the
  following test cases fail.

Firefox drag and drop test case:
  1. Launch firefox from the Unity launcher
  2. Enable the bookmarks toolbar: View - Toolbars - Bookmarks Toolbar
  3. Now attempt to drag the globe from the left side of the URL box into the
bookmarks
toolbar area. It should add the URL as a bookmark and create an icon but
doesn't.

  Firefox right click test case:
  1. Launch firefox from the Unity launcher
  2. Try right clicking (on a link or in a dead area). The right click menu
doesn't
     display.

Title:
(Firefox) Pop Ups don't display after switching virtual desktop

Status in Compiz:
  New
Status in Unity:
  Invalid
Status in “firefox” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
I got a very strange issue when switching from virtual desktop to
  another:

Firefox Pop Ups are not shown anymore when i switch to another virtual
  desktop an immediately switch back.

To get a common base to talk about:
By saying Firefox Popups i think of such things as

  * the notification (displayed as a yellow bar beneath the address entry
field) of the popup blocker. The notification itself is displayed, but not the
properties window where you can choose to block the pop up or to show it.
  * the right click menu. It is shown, but as soon as you move the mouse onto
the popup, it's gone.
  * any popups/drop downs displaying suggestions when you're entering text. Eg.
the address entry, or entries on websites

  This strange behaviour occurs when:

I switch from the desktop with the firefox window to another one and then
immediately back, keeping STRG and ALT pressed.
If i then switch to another desktop and the release all keys, and the switch
back to the firefox window, everything works as excpeted again.

Please tell me what extra information you need, as I don't know
exactly where the config of unity/compiz is stored.

I'm on a lenovo T500 with intel graphics using a complete up to date and
default natty 64 bit install.
The issue is connected to compiz/unity, because everything's fine when
running gnome or unity2d

If the problem is with udev, why it fails with Unity, and not in KDE?.

I actually have sound, but not trough pulseaudio; the speaker icon in
the system tray shows disabled and I don't have login sound, I know it
is disabled by default, I enabled it, so I expect to hear login sound
  and have pulseaudio working.

I noticed this problem with pulseaudio since an upgrade that the system made
automatically on January 18, these packages:

  Start-Date: 2013-01-18 10:24:02
  Install: linux-headers-3.2.0-36:amd64 (3.2.0-36.57, automatic),
linux-image-3.2.0-36-generic:amd64 (3.2.0-36.57),
linux-headers-3.2.0-36-generic:amd64 (3.2.0-36.57, automatic)
  Upgrade: linux-generic:amd64 (3.2.0.35.40, 3.2.0.36.43),
x11proto-gl-dev:amd64 (1.4.14-2, 1.4.16-1~precise1),
linux-headers-generic:amd64 (3.2.0.35.40, 3.2.0.36.43),
linux-image-generic:amd64 (3.2.0.35.40, 3.2.0.36.43), linux-libc-dev:amd64
(3.2.0-35.55, 3.2.0-36.57), x11proto-dri2-dev:amd64 (2.6-2, 2.8-1~precise1)
  End-Date: 2013-01-18 10:30:02

I personally can't find any relation of these packages with
pulseaudio, but after I installed the new kernel, pulseaudio sucks
when I log on with Unity.

ibus GUI not loading, unable to use input

Status in “ibus” package in Debian:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
I'm using oneiric since alpha3, and despite all the updates and
bugfixes, ibus is just not working under ubuntu, nor kubuntu.

  kernel: 3.0.0-11 (also previous versions)
  ibus: 1.3.99.20110419-1ubuntu3 (also ibus-gtk, ibus-gtk3, ibus-qt4,
ibus-pinyin packages are installed and up-to-date, with all dependencies)
  kubuntu 11.10

The problem is that even though ibus-daemon starts up at login, but it
doesn't do anything, the icon doesn't appear in the notificaion area,
and I can't seem to switch to a different method with the hotkey
either. When I try running ibus-daemon from the command line, i get
the answer that it's already running for this session. Also there is
no way under language support to install chinese language pack, only
the translations, all the other options are greyed out (input methods,
  etc) since oneiric.

There isn't any error messages whatsoever, it just doesn't work, and
also the same with scim and uim too.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1065961] [NEW] chromium-browser: general protection (fault)

I usually get an application-crashed information in the systray, but due
to apport bug #1058376, no crash report ever gets send to Launchpad.

This does not seem to depend on the website being looked at. It appears
randomly and is not reproducible when watching the same website again.
It seems to happen only when leaving one page / loading another, but
never when the page is already loaded. Sometimes Chromium does not
crash, but freezes instead and has to be killed.

It happens only since a few weeks (maybe 1-2 months at max), so it could
be caused by an update to some library. Chromium was also updated during
that timeframe: chromium-browser:i386

downgraded to a version archived on Launchpad [1], which does not show
the bug.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 382167] Re: LCD backlight flickers when adjusting it and when the system is idle

2012-08-21 Thread Dennis Schridde
I have the same issue on Ubuntu 12.04 with KDE 4:4.8.4a-0ubuntu0.2:
Sometimes the screen becomes very bright and after a while the backlight
starts to flicker and then switches minimum brightness (as configured in
the power management settings).

Also when I use the brightness keys (Fn+Up/Dn), the backlight will often
just start to flicker instead of switching to the intended brightness.
Sometimes it just allows to toggle minimum/maximum brightness, but skips
all steps in between.

The machine is a Samsung N140 with an Intel 945GSE graphics chipset.

Title:
LCD backlight flickers when adjusting it and when the system is idle

Status in “gnome-power-manager” package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager

Since I installed Intrepid, adjusting the LCD brightness is always an
annoying experience on my Acer 5720, both on AC power and on battery power.
If I increase or decrease the brightness by one step with the
Fn+left/Fn+right one of the following will randomly happen:
  - changing the brightness (as expected);
  - resetting the brightness to the minimum;
  - the brightness rapidly goes to the minimum, then to the desired amount.
This may happen up to 2-3 times in a row, leading to an annoying short flicker.

With the +/- buttons from the Brightness applet, the brightness seems
to go to the minimum, then goes back, then to the minimum again, then
to the new value. During these operations (which last about half a
second), the applet is unresponsive, i.e. the slider changes its
  position only after it finished.

Trying to drag the slider to the desired value, it behaves like I was
pressing the +/- buttons many times, therefore the brightness flickers
and slowly changes for some seconds. Sometimes it directly reaches the
final value, sometimes it goes back for a certain amount then goes to
the final values, sometimes it stops in the middle. All of this is
  VERY annoying.

Moreover, I see some flicker happening some time after I don't move
the mouse or press any key (always returning to the current
brightness) and/or when I start again to use keyboard or the mouse.

I repeat: before using Ubuntu 9.04, everything worked almost fine.

The cause may be a conflict between gnome-power-manager and some other
piece of software (kernel? brightness applet?), therefore I'm filing
  this to the g-p-m package.
