[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1452004] Re: Pulseaudio network stream gets recurrung short interruptions

2016-08-14 Thread Dirk Seidel
I'm now on 16.04 and the problem still persists. It even got worse, as
now, the short dropout happens exactly every 2 minutes.

Title:
Pulseaudio network stream gets recurrung short interruptions

Status in network-manager package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
I use pulseaudio to stream music over wifi to a Rasberry Pi 2 at 192kb.
Exactly every 5 minutes there is a short dropout in the stream. This is always
followed by the following warning in plamashell:
  networkmanager-qt: void
NetworkManager::AccessPointPrivate::propertiesChanged(const QVariantMap&)
Unhandled property "LastSeen"
which comes from the corresponding function in accesspoint.cpp. See (line
211):

http://api.kde.org/frameworks-api/frameworks5-apidocs/networkmanager-qt/html/accesspoint_8cpp_source.html

I am running on Vivid with kubuntu-ppa-ubuntu-backports-vivid.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1510998] Re: Xorg crashes with segfault on 15.10

2016-06-09 Thread Dirk Seidel
The workaround is to disable sna.

Create the file
/etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/20-intel.conf

with the following content:

Section "Device"
 Identifier "Card0"
 Driver "Intel"
 Option "AccelMethod" "uxa"
EndSection

2015-11-03 Thread Dirk Seidel
According to comment #32 in bug #1510970 it might help to upgrade to kernel
4.3. I just tested this but unfortunately got a segfault again after only a few
minutes...

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1510998] Re: Xorg crashes with segfault on 15.10

2015-11-02 Thread Dirk Seidel
Why is the importance changed from Critical to High? I am experiencing
3-5 crashes per day and am not aware of any workaround. This is more or
less an unusable system and I am seriously thinking of downgrading
again.

Johan Tol, have you tried to get a backtrace like I mentioned in #8?
That way it works without problems.

I'm not sure what you mean with "kernel call trace".
The first entry in syslog which is related to the crash mentioned in #13 is

Nov 1 12:53:06 gondor org.a11y.atspi.Registry[4315]: XIO: fatal IO error 11
(Resource temporarily unavailable) on X server
 ":0"

But this is not always the same. See attached syslog file (#2) for the three
events at
Oct 28 15:56:36
Oct 28 12:06:58
Oct 28 09:08:51

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1510998] Re: Xorg crashes with segfault on 15.10

2015-11-01 Thread Dirk Seidel
I already had two crashes today, but no specific xorg file. One of the crashes
happened at 12:53:06 according to syslog. Only one file in /var/crash, namely
_usr_bin_akonadi_maildispatcher_agent.1000.crash is related to that crash and
occurred at 12:53:08 according to the crash file.
Unfortunately I am not really able to reproduce any crashes. It seems more
likely to happen when I watch videos (flash or vlc), but is not restricted to
those circumstances.

2015-11-01 Thread Dirk Seidel
Sorry, now I know what you mean: log messages from #3.
These appear at completely different times, so probably they are unrelated to
the crashes (see again syslog in #2). I mentioned them because they also
involve the intel graphics, so who knows...

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1510998] Re: Xorg crashes with segfault on 15.10

2015-10-30 Thread Dirk Seidel
I tried to get a backtrace according to "Already running programs" for X from
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Backtrace

I started gdb on the first virtual console (Ctrl+Alt+F1). After
executing "continue" in gdb, I can still switch between the different
consoles, but after typing Ctrl+Alt+F7 to get back to the X session,
the system is completely frozen (the virtual console is still visible).

Am I doing something wrong?

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1510998] [NEW] Xorg crashes with segfault on 15.10

2015-10-28 Thread Dirk Seidel
Public bug reported:

I updated my system from 15.04 to 15.10 yesterday. Since then the X
server has already crashed 5 times, which renders the system close to
unusable for me.

Unfortunately I have no clue how to reproduce the segfault. The last
crash happened while I was reading some document and I did not push any
button, moved the mouse or anything...

Title:
  xorg synaptic driver errors

Status in xorg package in Ubuntu:
  Triaged

Bug description:
My touchpad is behaving strangely (As far as I remember it only appeared
after some update in Utopic).
Using a two or three finger click, it needs several tries till it actually
accepts the click. Sometimes the mouse pointer jumps to a different location
on the screen when clicking with two or the fingers.
Whenever the touchpad is used, errors get logged in /var/log/Xorg.0.log which
seem to be related to the synaptic driver.

Approximately once every week my X server crashes with a segmentation
fault. First the screen turns black and after ~30 seconds the login
screen appears. In this case the Xorg.0.log ends like this:

There doesn't seem to be an usage issue in Vivid, but after an uptime
of only three days the filesize of Xorg.0.log is already 116MB due to
those error messages...

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1452004] [NEW] Pulseaudio network stream gets recurrung short interruptions

2015-05-05 Thread Dirk Seidel
Public bug reported:

I use pulseaudio to stream music over wifi to a Rasberry Pi 2 at 192kb. Exactly
every 5 minutes there is a short dropout in the stream. This is always followed
by the following warning in plamashell:
networkmanager-qt: void
NetworkManager::AccessPointPrivate::propertiesChanged(const QVariantMap)
Unhandled property LastSeen
which comes from the corresponding function in accesspoint.cpp. See (line 211):
http://api.kde.org/frameworks-api/frameworks5-apidocs/networkmanager-qt/html/accesspoint_8cpp_source.html

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1437867] Re: xorg synaptic driver errors

2015-04-07 Thread Dirk Seidel
The behaviour usually worsens after using the system for a longer time.
As I cannot run on a live system for a longer period, this is hard to
say. I will report after the upgrade to Vivid.

Title:
  xorg synaptic driver errors

Status in xorg package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Errors are still produced in Vivid Daily Build, though it seems that the
two/three finger taps and the jumping of the mouse pointer gets better.

2015-03-31 Thread Dirk Seidel
I updated the BIOS:

gondor:/etc# dmidecode -s bios-version dmidecode -s bios-release-date
V1.14
01/08/2015

Unfortunately it has no influence on the touchpad behaviour. The errors
showing up are still like the ones logged in
XorgLog.txt/xserver.errors.txt

fault. First the screen turns black and after ~30 seconds the login
screen appears. In this case the Xorg.0.log ends like this:

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1437867] [NEW] xorg synaptic driver errors

2015-03-29 Thread Dirk Seidel
Public bug reported:

My touchpad is behaving strangely (As far as I remember it only appeared after
some update in Utopic).

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1172094] Re: xorg synaptic driver crashes

2015-03-26 Thread Dirk Seidel
I'm running Kubuntu 14.10 and I am still experiencing the bug.
For me it does not seem to be related to suspend/resume, at least it happens
long after a resume. Also, there was never a particular high load on the
machine. In my case it seems to get triggered by clicking on a link which then
gets opened in the Chrome browser, but unfortunately it is not reproducible.

The screen turns black and after some time the login screen appears.
Xorg.0.log.old contains:

Many users will put different windows in different workspaces for better work
flow. If a user connects and/or disconnects an external monitor or projector,
all of these windows will be put in the first workspace. Having to go back and
move all of the windows back to their workspaces is very frustrating and time
consuming.

  [Test Case]
#. Open some applications in different workspaces.
#. Plug in an external monitor.

  [Regression Potential]
Very low possibility that a window still ends up in the wrong workspace.

  Original description:
well, i plug in my external screen.

expected behaviour would be, if all of my windows would stay in the
workspaces i aligned them to, and if they'd be on the same screen i
had them in the first place.

unfortunatly in unity, if i plug-in (or plug-off) my external screen
the windows are all around, but not where i'd expect them to be
(namely in the same place they were before). so i always have to
toggle expo-mode and re-align all of my windows.

expected behaviour would be, if all of my windows would stay in the
workspaces i aligned them to, and if they'd be on the same screen i
had them in the first place.

unfortunatly in unity, if i plug-in (or plug-off) my external screen
the windows are all around, but not where i'd expect them to be
(namely in the same place they were before). so i always have to
toggle expo-mode and re-align all of my windows.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1324136] [NEW] AirTunes support unusable

2014-05-28 Thread Dirk Seidel
Public bug reported:

Streaming to an airport express box with AirTunes (pulseaudio-module-
raop) worked fine from 11.04 till 13.10. Since the upgrade to 14.04
streaming is unusable because of stuttering (the streaming breaks down
for fractions of a second or longer many times during a song). My setup:
Kubuntu, phonon-backend-gstreamer, amarok. With phonon-backend-vlc the
stuttering is even worse.

I downgraded pulseaudio-module-raop from 1:4.0-0ubuntu10 (14.04) to
1:4.0-0ubuntu6 (13.10), but it doesn't help. My attempt to downgrade all
pulseaudio/phonon related packages resulted in a broken sound system,
even though the installation of the older packages succeeded. In the end
I downgraded to 13.10 again :-(

** Affects: pulseaudio (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

Audio stream to Apple airport express stutters

Status in “pulseaudio” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: pulseaudio-module-raop

During streaming of mp3 files to a apple airport express the audio frequently
stutters. Usually the audio stops for just a fraction of a second before audio
resumes again.
What can I do to remedy this or what can I do to narrow the problem down
further?

  Ubuntu 10.10

  pulseaudio-module-raop 1:0.9.22~0.9.21
