[Desktop-packages] [Bug 927243] Re: Search bar disappears when you stick the window to the side of the screen

2012-04-04 Thread Dylan Weremeichik
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 876653 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/876653

I'm slightly confused by the information you have given above Matthew,
In my experience First, Compiz resizes a window to less than its
minimum width if you semi-maximize it on the left, but not if you semi-
maximize it on the right. is invalid for me, it happens on both sides.
Secondly in my experience USC hides its search field even when at its
proper minimum width. is not true for me either. If neither of these
things happen in my case, are you sure that this is actually the same
bug? I'm only questioning this in hopes that it may provide you with
more information on the other issues as well.

Search bar disappears when you stick the window to the side of the
  screen

Status in “compiz” package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid
Status in “software-center” package in Ubuntu:
  Triaged

Bug description:
  To reproduce:
  1. Using a lower resolution monitor, take your window, drag it to one side of
the screen, or the other, so that it sticks/pins to the side of your screen.

You will now notice that the search bar is missing, it is my thoughts
that this is happening because when you pin the window to the side of
the screen it makes it smaller than it is supposed to go.

  screenshot: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/software-
  center/+bug/927243/+attachment/2717132/+files/software%20center%20bug.png

This is because Compiz is forcing the window to be smaller than the
  minimum software center window size.

The best fix might be to make it so the search bar can expand and
  shrink with the window, perhaps.

  Release:11.10 + 12.04

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 962277] [NEW] When switching from processor tab to laptop battery, sub-tab is unexpected

2012-03-22 Thread Dylan Weremeichik
Public bug reported:

Steps to reproduce:
1. click on battery icon, open up the statistics manager
2. Make sure you start out in the AC Adapter tab
3. Click Laptop Battery Tab
4. Observe that the selected sub-tab is Details
5. Click the Processor Tab
6. Click Laptop Battery Tab
7. Observe that the selected sub-tab is Statistics

This is odd, it is neither the last sub-tab i was on, nor is it the
default sub-tab. Most likely you would expect it to be the last sub-tab
visited.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 959780] Re: Password should be encrypted in gnome keyring

2012-03-20 Thread Dylan Weremeichik
I'm sorry for the confusion, i misinterpreted the way Canonical had set up
Ubuntu One, they don't actually store passwords, they use OAuth tokens and SSO,
thereby storing a private token on your computer.
Again, i apologize for the mistake, and am marking this as an invalid bug.

your password for that is the same for all of your Google accounts, including

Bug description:
  To reproduce:
  1. take your window, drag it to one side of the screen, or the other, so that
it sticks/pins to the side of your screen.

You will now notice that the search bar is missing, it is my thoughts
that this is happening because when you pin the window to the side of
the screen it makes it smaller than it is supposed to go. The best fix
might be to make it so the search bar can expand and shrink with the
  window, perhaps.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 891613] Re: Skype Icon shows twice while seaching for it at software-center

2012-02-05 Thread Dylan Weremeichik
Marking this as confirmed, what has failed to have been noticed here is,
well take a nice look at all of the screen shots people posted here, see
if you notice a difference. The ones with the duplicate Skype also
contain (skype:i386) in the name of them... which would imply that the
packages are different no? This bug defiantly seems like it's on a
person by person basis tho, and not a big usability problem either at
the moment

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 45018] Re: Unlock screen is invisible with Nvidia twinview

2012-01-28 Thread Dylan Weremeichik
Happens to me to on 11.10, i'm experiencing this with an Intel board, it
happens intermittently, sometimes i can see the log-in dialog box, other
times i can't, one would think that this bug would have a higher
importance, or at least a workaround... I've personally found that if i
switch between the ttys enough the box will eventually re-appear,
defiantly a nasty bug for any new user to experience

Status in GNOME Screensaver:
  Fix Released
Status in “gnome-screensaver” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: gnome-screensaver

This bug may equally be an issue with the Nvidia GLX drivers or Xorg.

When my laptop is configured with the following excerpt from
xorg.conf, the gnome-screensaver unlock dialog does not appear. I
haven't tested if the dialog box appears if a second monitor/projector
  is connected.

Further symptoms include two screensavers seeming to run at the same
time, sometimes one screensaver briefly appears over the top of the
  other.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 902677] [NEW] Application icons appear in Unity menu bar when a window is open, but its number will not display (certain applications)

2011-12-10 Thread Dylan Weremeichik
Public bug reported:

When you have an empathy chat window open, and you hold down the windows/super
key, you should see a number appear over the empathy icon indicating what
window it is, however when you do this, nothing appears, even stranger, when
you go to press the number it should be, combined with the super key, nothing
happens.
The steps to reproduce are as follows,
1. Open up a chat window with someone
2. hold down the super key

A work around for this is to open up another program after you open an
empathy window, it then receives a shortcut number

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 901791] [NEW] No option to add shade button to window menu

2011-12-08 Thread Dylan Weremeichik
Public bug reported:

Shading a window only works from it's hot key, ctrl-alt-s
It used to be that you had an option to add it to the window controls, through
gnome-control-center, this appears to no longer be the case. I suppose that
this function is very trivial, however it does seem to be wasted. Perhaps this
function is not needed at all? Or perhaps it simply needs more support in unity.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 876290] Re: Ctrl+Alt+Del mapped to log out dialogue

2011-11-30 Thread Dylan Weremeichik
This may not be so much a shortcut bug, as a bug between the development of the
log out/shutdown script.
If you go to your menu click more apps, filter to system apps, and look through
your list of installed apps you will find that log out and shut down are two
different applications(well the way they treat them at least). They can not be
one dialog. But now that you do mention it, it is weird that they would create
this application in this way.

A quick fix for you, would be to go to System Settings - Keyboard - Shortcuts
- Custom Shortcuts
then make a new shortcut called shutdown
and in the line asking for the command enter
/usr/lib/indicator-session/gtk-logout-helper -s
without the quotes, then set your shortcut to what ever you desire
hope this helps for now

Ctrl+Alt+Del used to be the keymapping for offering Shutdown, Restart,

quick way of shutting down the computer via keyboard. In Oneiric, this
has been remapped to throwing up the Log Out dialogue. This leaves no
easy way to shut down the computer using the keyboard. Even Alt+F4,
which is used to shut down applications (presumably for the comfort of
users migrating from Windows), does not throw up the Shut Down
  dialogue.

A mouse should not be necessary to shut down the computer (and running
a search in Dash is just illogical).

2011-11-30 Thread Dylan Weremeichik
I'm not quite sure i understand what your asking in the first part there.
However to be honest, i believe that i don't really know enough to be able to
be a big help here at the moment unfortunately. I am willing to learn, and help
where ever i can tho. My main problem is finding a place to start. So to answer
your question accurately, i am interested, however i don't see myself as being
a big help here at the moment, so i will have to sit this one out.
Sorry.

easy way to shut down the computer using the keyboard. Even Alt+F4,
which is used to shut down applications (presumably for the comfort of
users migrating from Windows), does not throw up the Shut Down
  dialogue.

A mouse should not be necessary to shut down the computer (and running
a search in Dash is just illogical).

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 898321] [NEW] Keyboard-Settings - Shortcuts - Custom Shortcuts deletion does not actually delete

2011-11-30 Thread Dylan Weremeichik
Public bug reported:

When you create a custom shortcut, with a key binding, and later delete it,
the item is removed from the list but the key binding is not removed
Steps to recreate:
1. add a custom shortcut with a key binding
2. make sure the key binding works
3. remove the item from the menu with the minus button
4. try your key binding again

The hackish work around i found for this was:
1.assuming the name of your first shortcut was Shutdown
2.after you deleted Shutdown create a new shortcut with the same exact
name(doing this disables the key binding)
3.you can now delete the second shortcut to completely remove the key binding

ProblemType: Bug
DistroRelease: Ubuntu 11.10
Package: gnome-control-center 1:3.2.2-0ubuntu1
